Consumer fraud or incompetent staff? Aspen Dental is an in network provider with my dental insurance. I had a root canal done in the Harrisburg office last year. I paid the portion of the costs that my insurance would not cover before my appointment. The remainder was supposed to be paid by my dental insurance. However, it turns out that Aspen Dental did not provide documentation that the root canal was medically necessary and the claim was denied. After learning of this, I contacted Aspen Dental and was informed that the inability to prove medical necessity does not mean medical necessity does not exist. Yet, the dentist purported to rely on X-rays in making his recommendation that I have a root canal. Why werent the X-rays included with the dental claim? Either they lied to me and performed an unnecessary procedure or the staff simply did not include the proper documentation when the claim was sent to my insurance. The story goes on from here but Aspen Dental fails to show any redeeming qualities so Ill save you the novel. If you choose to visit this office just know that you will need a second opinion if you want to be sure you actually need the dental work they recommend and you will also want to file your own claims if you want your dental insurance to pay. One more thing to note: I have had the same dental insurance for almost a decade. My husband and two kids are on the same policy. We have never had any problems with claims being denied other than with Aspen Dental.

Very disjointed scheduling system. Not very accomodating although they boast extended hours for patient convenience. I called as a new patient for an eval and cleaning. Was not told at the time that both could not be done at first visit. I also made an appointment for my husband who IS NOT a new patient. After a few back and forth calls the day of our appointment, was told my husband was scheduled as a new patient and he would not be seen as this was a new patient spot. I told them he left work early and it was of no importance to their scheduling system. They were not rude, but still provided horrible customer service by not being considerate of our time. I was told he would have to wait about a month for his already overdue cleaning. My 9yr old son was also scheduled at the time I scheduled my appointment and he was scheduled out 6months for an evaluation (this was the soonest new child patient appointment available). They also told me my 1 yr old son was too young for a visit, which is a load of crap as I know children see the dentist at this age. I am completely unsatisfied with this site and will be returning to my old office who we chose to leave only because of the insurance we were stuck with this year. We prefer to pay out of pocket than be seen by someone who doesnt respect their patients time. -Christina Gonzalez

I was referred by Bianca Bingaman, who has been working there for years and really knows whats going on with all positions in that establishment, minus being the actual dentist(obviously). Filled out some paper work and handed it in to Christine, who then input all the information into their computer. I was probed by one of the assistants who took x-rays of my teeth and walked me back to the area to wait for Dr. Zaid. I was able to watch a little 13" television in the chair while waiting for the doctor. Upon arriving to go over my examination, he allowed me to look at the x-rays and explained to me at what I was looking. I have issues inside my mouth and Dr. Zaid was very professional with the explanation of why he recommended the thing he did. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, take care of your teeth! Brushing your teeth regularly doesnt prevent bacteria build up alone. I now understand that flossing is very important!! Anyway, today was a good experience at the office of Aspen Dental on Union Deposit Road in Harrisburg, PA. Anna is a great manager and is a very tough cookie. Even though she hurt her arm, she is still hard at work. Way to lead by example Anna! Always friendly when I go to Aspen Dental at the Union Deposit location.

I would not recommend this office in Harrisburg. I was told i had 4 small holes that if I got them filled now that I would not have any problems with them later on. I got them filled and have had problems since they were "fixed." Not only did I have intense pain with the one filling that spread throughout my mouth and up my neck and head (they told me to talk tylenol and that it could be fine), and I also have recurring pain when chewing or biting down on anything with two out of the four fillings. I was told they were pin hole sized and were very, very minor. When I returned to have them checked, I was told that I might need root canals now (RIDICULOUS!) and that they might have "gone too deep" when cleaning out the tooth. They were not friendly when I went back to get them checked and I was actually told that "never had anyone come back to complain about their work." Well, I am complaining. For cleanings they are fine, but I would go somewhere else for any sort of work.

Hi, its my first visit today to Aspen Dental Clinic and as soon as I woke in to the receptionist I found out that my first appointment that I was excited about is changed from a regular solid appointment to an emergency one. Now I am still at the door and didnt get to see no Doctors yet and when I asked them why was that I get an answer that the call center did it then I asked if it can be fixed but I got reply I will schedule you for another appointment, seriously I dont like to go to dentist at all, I was pushing my self to be there. Whats worse than that I was talked to like I am desperate to see the dentist saying that I can wait and a doctor will see me in the room in between his patient treatments to get me by. not to mention I have a full coverage Insurance. it made me so uncomfortable to be there and I couldnt stay there at all so I canceled every thing and left, what Abad experience visit.

Avoid this place, and ALL Aspen Dental branches, like the plague. Do your homework, Google before going - they are scam artists. Since Im without insurance for a few months, Aspen Dental was all I could afford and they are discount for a reason. I was hoping that everything Id heard about them wouldnt hold true when I went.. hah! Cold and unsympathetic. The dentist roughly pried out a piece of my temporary filling and told me off..! Then I was whisked away to discuss payment options for a $5,000 bill - including wisdom tooth extraction that I specified I did not want... seriously? A few days later I got a $50 bill in the mail, for their free initial exam and X-rays! I refuse to pay - Complete scam! Collect your free X-rays and find a real dentist! So glad I didnt actually have anything done at Aspen Dental - Theres some real horror stories online.
