Went to Mt. P. office because it was after hours and I knew it would be a long wait the next day at my internists office. What a mistake. First of all, the older lady at the front desk with the blonde "soccer mom" haircut was very unfriendly and cold - despite my friendly smile and manner. It was obvious she did not want to be there - and that she didnt want ME to be there either. She needs to find a job in which shes not working with the public. The wait was very brief, which was good because its definitely not a warm, inviting waiting area. Just a large institutional-like room with chairs along the walls. No magazines, TV, or other amenities usually found in a doctors office. No artwork. Nothing. But thats okay. I was quickly called to get my vitals checked (by a friendly, sweet young woman), and then I was put in an examining room, where I waited and waited and waited. But thats how it is in most medical offices. The music in the examining room. Im fine with some Christian music, and I love rock-n-roll, but most of this was VERY loud and VERY annoying. We were told it couldnt be turned down (yeah, right) because patients could hear what was going on in the next room. The music was so loud, I was about to get up and leave, but in walked the doc, who turned the music off completely. Weird. Finally, I was misdiagnosed by a doctor who probably graduated near the bottom of the class. This could have been a dangerous misdiagnosis, but thankfully I was able to see my internist a couple of days later who gave me the correct diagnosis and the appropriate medications. Bottom line: Dont expect the care, concern, and expertise you get from your private physicians office. Youre going to one of these clinics as a last resort for whatever reason. From now on, Ill either suffer and wait until I can see my doctor or go to a hospital emergency room.

Arrived at exactly 8:02pm with an obvious dislocated shoulder (being driven from a soccer game) and in obvious distress. The two women inside had just locked up and with a big smirk, communicated by showing me their watch and signaling they had "cut off." I pleaded if there was a doctor I needed help to get it popped back in. Thank you for caring enough to even open the door, to offer suggestions or an explanation, and also smiling awkwardly at my situation. In that much excruciatingly pain, I had hoped for a little help despite you being ready to go home. Guess its just a business and could care less about peoples well-being. I went to MUSC emergency room for proper care. After 3 other terrible urgent care experiences its obvious that for anything other than having the common cold, urgent care is incapable, being mostly filled with unprofessional secretaries vs actual medically trained nurses and doctors. Last experience at (different) urgent care for a tick I came back with from camping, involved the "doctor" examining it, leaving the room, and then coming back to say "I googled it and luckily that area is not known for tick borne illness." But I digress.

I agree with the last post. This place is cold - and Im not talking temperature-wise. The staff at the front desk is unfriendly and they dont seem to like people. I actually apologized for bothering the woman who was receiving patients! (Apparently the same blonde woman.) And although the nurse was nice, and the doctor was friendly and seemed like a caring person, she misdiagnosed me, which could have been really bad if I hadnt followed up with my personal physician during normal hours the next day. I think what bothered me most though, is that this is supposed to be a "Christian" practice. Not that being Christian automatically makes people friendly and caring, but you would think theyd be a LITTLE warmer and kinder. "Walk the Talk" you know? Oh yeah - the music they play in the examining room: Holy Ruptured Eardrums! It was VERY loud and annoying. I like Christian music, but not non-stop, heavy rock. At least play a station thats soft rock or even classical, but its unfair to subject patients, clients, whomever to music thats too loud and too intense. Ill never darken the doors of this place again, thats for sure.

I went here for an allergic reaction and was given a prescription for prednisone. The pharmacy filled it incorrectly so I was taking the wrong dosage (too little). I called health first to ask some questions. I wanted to know the correct way to take the meds and if I needed more since I was taking it incorrectly. The receptionist said a nurse would call me back but was transferring me to leave a message. The call disconnected. I called back, left a message and never, ever got a call back. I went to Doctors Care and they gave me a new prescription and better care. It was night and day between the 2. I felt like they wanted me in and out at health first and were more concerned with getting back to their food than answering my questions. DOCTORS Care answered all my questions and I was not rushed out. They made sure I knew how to take the meds. I will never return to health first nor would I recommend.

My wife left work early with severe throat pain...cough...congestion...she is not one to go to the doctor for common cold. After 2 hours Dr. Alford gave a 10 second diagnosis and prescribed Flonase and Amoxicilan just in case bacterial infection...nothing for the cough and severe sore throat pain she went in for. Nurse said Strep was negative. When she asked for a standard cough/pain combo the Dr.looked at her as if she was a junkie and presribed Bromfed and take Advil...Very Rude..Very impolite and Very Unprofessional...my wife left there in tears and came home that way. And even with a $25 copay with my BCBS we always have a balance when we go back. It seems its all about the money. Thats a balance that wont be paid as we will never be back and have spent a thousand or more and keep getting the same treatment. Some things dont get better no matter how many tries you give it.

I came in because I got hurt at work and workers comp requires us to go there for triage instead of going to a hospital. I was wheeled in, in obvious pain. The front desks clerk could not get an answer when they called the workers comp people so they would not see me, I was sitting there with an open fracture of my ankle and no one even bothered to look at it, they just told me to wait and they would try to call again later. I broke all 3 three bones connecting my ankle to my leg and one bone punctured the skin. I was in terrible pain and the front desk people were rude and dismissive. I will be taking this up with workers comp for CCSD, maybe they should not be requiring one to go visit a place that does not care at all about the injured person.

Visited west ashley location today the front desk and medical tech and doctor was nice; however i think the RAD tech may have had a case of "the mondays" she seemed annoyed i had my 4 year old with me...trust me lady no parent wants to drag their kid with them to the doctor. She didnt really say anything out of line but it was how things were said. Attitude is everything especially in the medical field which i have been employed in for the past 8 years. I left feeling belittled and like my visit was an inconvience especially after the "children ugh" and after asking for direction for the bathroom.
