Doctor Jim Sweeney is the only Chiropractor that has been able to move my lumbar vertebra with one attempt. In 1978 I was 14 years old and I injured my back lifting weights (the squat lift). A chiropractor advised me that my condition is called a Spondylolisthesis and the small bones (Transverse Process) which protrude from the vertebra are broken. Now I am 52 and I have been to 9 different Chiropractors. I understand that many people recommend their Chiropractor because they are pleased with the results. However, if you have a chronic long-term condition in which you are having difficulty getting an adjustment performed well, go see Doctor Jim Sweeney. Think about it, if you have had 38 years of back pain, you know when a Chiropractor is doing all he can or he is just going through the motions. Doctor Jim has the power to make an adjustment that is very effective. Doctor Jim can be seen working-out at the Brentwood YMCA on a daily basis and I have personally seen him working-out at the Coleman Center (across the street from his office) on his lunch break. The men in the weight room do not call him Gymnasium Jim or Super Sweeny for nothing. This Chiropractor works-out not only for his health but also for the health and well-being of his patients. Perhaps Doctor Sweeny will post a video on his website that recounts his journey from standard statements issued by primary care physicians to results oriented chiropractor adjustments. From Doctor Jim’s past experiences with chiropractic treatments he not only became inspired to attended Chiropractic College, but he also endeavored to enhance his craft like a Master of the Martial Arts. Nevertheless, I will say that the work-out routine of Doctor Jim is completely customized. To give you a little background information, there is a feat of power that has only been demonstrated by a very little man whom we all know as Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee was the only man to develop the “one inch punch”, which involves only a one inch movement of his hand and it unleashes force like a full swing. Well, Doctor Jim has customized his work-out technique to develop the tendons and ligaments in his elbow region, through isometric and isotonic fifteen degree angle weight lifting exercises. My point is that Doctor Jim’s knowledge of physiology has allowed him to use this exercise strategy to bolster his lateral adjustment power force. I will say that if there is ever a computerized device that can measure kinetic energy in milliseconds to simulate the proper chiropractic adjustment, Big Dr. Jim most likely will be traveling the nation as a consultant for chiropractic colleges. I will add that if I was writing a chiropractic textbook, I would characterize Big Dr. Jim’s adjustment maneuver as the “Sweeny Snap Technique”. I think his approach to the adjustment procedure should be the benchmark for all chiropractors. Albeit, I do not think anyone will ever achieve his skill-set level. I had an appointment today, and I told Doctor Jim that I will be moving to Texas in a few months, and I hope this review will help people that have recently relocated to Nashville. After relocating I will be looking at reviews to find my next Chiropractor, and I hope that patients write reviews that will help me as much as I hope to assist people in Nashville searching for a Chiropractor that can perform at superior level.

I started coming to Sweeney Chiropractic about a year ago for a nagging pain I got while practicing aerial arts. I found Sweeney Chiropractic through their awesome Google reviews and realized they were right down the street! From the moment I walked in, I felt warm and welcomed. The entire staff was super-friendly and helpful and Dr. Jim did a great job diagnosing my pain and treating it with some adjustments and dry needling. I felt immediate relief from the first treatment I received and my nagging pain fully healed within two months of treatment, even though my job meant that I couldnt go to treatment as much as I wanted to. Even after my pain was gone, I liked coming in for an adjustment maybe once a month just to keep my body limber for aerial. I ended up moving 40 mins south at the end of last year and the drive was long enough that I really slacked on my maintenance adjustments. I ended up pulling a muscle in my neck in April just from playing with my dogs and, instead of going back to Dr Jim, I tried out a chiro in my new town. BIG MISTAKE. From the moment I walked in, I felt like this new guy was trying to scam me. He had me take photos while turning my neck, etc., to "get a baseline" for my range of motion, then adjusted me and sent me on my way. When they called me in for a follow up, this new chiro told me how terrible my range of motion was in my neck and prescribed an expensive treatment regimen to fix it. But I went in complaining of a stiff neck! Needless to say, when I got a twinge in my shoulder this week (from overtraining aerial -- I cant help it!!), I got in the car and drove the 40 mins to see Dr. Jim. I was greeted with big smiles and hugs from Dr Jim and Mom Sweeney (who helps out around the office -- because its literally a family there). I told Dr. Jim what my new problem was (since he remembered what my old one was even though I hadnt seen him in months) and he diagnosed it right away, even showing me a chart of what was going on. He did some dry needling (hit the spot right away!) and adjusted me (my back feels better than it has in months) and I again felt immediate relief! Not only that, but all of my waiting time (which wasnt much) was spent chatting with the staff and Mom Sweeney and petting Molly, Dr. Jims adorable dog. TL;DR: Dr. Jim and his staff are the real deal -- honest, informed, caring people who want to see you get better. Dr. Jim is a great chiropractor and I will gladly go out of my way to keep him as my chiro!!
