I went to Stars In your Eyes. Everything went fine, regular check up, everything totally normal and mediocre, nothing special. Then it comes time to pay. So I pay. Cash. Then theyre like "Alright. . ." and I ask where my prescription is, and they tell me its not their policy to provide customers with their prescription. ?!?! WHAAAT?! I was dumbfounded and left. Then I talked to some people, and they were like "What? Ive never heard of that. That is BS. They are trying to pull a fast one on you so that you only come to THEM to buy your glasses and contacts." So you see, Stars In Your Eyes operates with dishonest policies. Do not go here. Do not pay for dishonest service. There are plenty of honest optometrists in Austin. Also, all of the other reviews here are fakes compiled by the company. Read the other reviews, they sound so prefabricated. WOW, this only goes to show how disonest this place is DO NOT GO HERE!!! And read these other reviews.. its so easy to tell theyre fake, which makes me think that the people at Stars in Your Eyes are even bigger morons... how overt can you be? "The office is beautiful and has the best selection of eyeglass frames that youll find at" there is nothing beautiful about the office, and the selection is dismal compared to many other places i have been.

ROSEDALE LOCATION Mehhh. I have been going to them for years. Since I am moving a little further south, I am switching for convenience. Theres nothing really special that they do for me to stay. The only reason I am switching is: 1) I called them multiple times (6x or more) from 9:30am until noon to talk to a person but kept getting a voicemail. I resorted to emailing them. They got back to me around 1:20pm but it was too late for me to call because I was away from my work desk/phone until 4:30pm. I know it is demanding of me for wanting an appointment the same day but at least answer the phone. The response was please call for an appointment. Ummm...I tried. 2) My previous visit (after I already paid and left), the next day there was a back and forth on charging me/not charging me for something extra. At the time it didnt bother me but for business etiquette have all the charges upfront please. 3) Location convenience

I have been going to Stars in Your Eyes for about 8 years. Dr. Wright is absolutely the best! He has gone the extra mile to make sure I get the best solution possible. I work at a monitor most of the day and rather than shuffle three pairs of glasses (one for computer work, one bifocal pair, and another pair for sunglasses), he has worked with me to get the best possible vision out of multi-focal contacts. I still use some reading glasses for up close super small type, but otherwise dont have to keep up with glasses and have a full field of vision. Weve tried 3 different manufacturers products and he has spent the time and effort to ensure I have the best solution possible. I have never had such fantastic service, I HIGHLY recommend Stars in Your Eyes! You may pay a little more than the discount places, but you get the absolute best service and convenience in the heart of downtown Austin.

I have been to the Downtown and Rosedale locations of Stars in Your Eyes. I remain unsure about whether shopping here is a good value. Everytime I leave I have the feeling that I have been charged too much. During my last vist one of the assistants specifically asked if I had filled my last eye glass prescription else where, which I thought was odd. Then when I was at the counter paying for my exams I experienced the hard sell with the contact and the glasses. I didnt appreciate that the staff member who was calculating my bill said "I feel like we are playing Lets Make a Deal" after my questions about the total. My advice is if you work for a living and your insurance isnt that great (who DOES have decent coverage for eyes and teeth anymore?) shop around.

The Doctor was good but the exam rooms are hot, the frame selection is very average compared to how hip it used to be, and the staff was ill informed on what is covered by my insurance. They didnt tell me I would be getting dilated and I didnt have the extra 45 mins that day. I was told the machine would be $35 out of pocket but then when I checked out and it was too late I found out that it would have been covered by my co-pay had they taken the time to actually look. So thats pretty frustrating. This place used to have cool frames but now its pretty lame. Ray Bans, Silhouette... about it. Nothing big. Nothing fun or fashionable. This place used to be hip. Still convenient if you work or live downtown but thats about it.

I have edited this review as my experiences with this office have improved over the years and I feel that my original post was too negative. The staff is friendly and laid back; Dr. Wright is very professional and approachable. He continually provides excellent service. I very much enjoy going to this part of town so having an exam here is now an outing I look forward to.

Hated my experience here. I declined a $35 exam that my insurance didnt cover and I got lectured for 10 minutes about Glaucoma that I "might" or "might not" have. I had to tell them THREE times I didnt want it. Then I got dinged for a $60 contact lens charge that my insurance didnt cover. I hate optometrists--having to get a new Rx every year is a total scam.

No one told me i had to make an appointment when i called and asked about eye exams so i drive all the way downtown and because i couldnt find close parking i had "crutch" Im on crutches, All the way there just to be told they dont take walk ins. They wouldnt even see me when i told them it was their fault. Terrible place. Wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

I had a really positive experience here. The staff was awesome and very helpful. Dr. Wright is a motorcycle enthusiast, so we had plenty to talk about. He was also very skilled and professional. The last optometrist I saw was very patronizing. It was pleasant to be treated like an adult. Id recommend this place to my myopically challenged friends!

This place is a huge ripoff. Called and made sure they took my insurance, was assured I would only pay $10 for an eye exam. Long story short, ended up leaving there paying $105. Then they called me a week later asking for another $130. Shady place, if you need to get your eyes checked out go somewhere else.

They treat me like a valued customer and just a number. I love the special care they give when picking out glasses and all of their staff are lovely to be around. The selection of glasses are stylish and hip. Easy to get an appointment as well.

I really loved the service I received. Everyone was extremely friendly. I even managed to get lost and was late but they were still more than friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend going there.
