At 36 years young I never thought I would be having cataract surgery… Ever! For the past 6 months my vision had been hazy, foggy, dull, blurry and the glare from every light was terrible. Being in Ophthalmology for the past 15 years, I thought to myself… My eyes are probably dry and my contacts are making it worse. After 1 month of “self” treating my supposed “dry eyes” with artificial tears, B12 supplements and more tears, I finally had Dr. Hoelscher do an eye exam on me. To my surprise, I had HUGE cataracts in both eyes! After a few days of being upset and getting over the shock I was ready to schedule my cataract surgery. I spent the weeks leading to my surgery worrying for absolutely NO reason. All the familiar faces at the surgery center, including Dr. Warren, were sweet, helpful, and they answered all 100 of my questions like they would a patient that is not familiar with the procedure. Their tone and confidence in their voices made my experience smooth and relaxing. Driving to my one day post op with Dr. Hoelscher was fascinating and UNBELIEVABLE! The clarity in the colors of the trees, the sharpness on the letters of all the street signs, and the details on every single thing I saw on the road was stunning! I closed my “bionic” right eye at a stop light and looked with my left eye only to be disappointed with the same hazy, dull, blurry vision the cataract is causing. The vision in my right eye was 20/20 on day ONE of my surgery. Yes… I cried like a baby… Sobbing to be honest… Having your vision restored leaves you speechless and feeling beyond blessed for every single person at Key Whitman Eye Center that has helped you get through this journey of having cataract surgery. With that said… I want to make myself EXTREMELY clear… I am NOT writing this as an employee of Key Whitman Eye Center… I am writing this as a PATIENT that is undoubtedly thrilled with the outcome of my vision and the wonderful way that everyone at Key Whitman took such great care of me and my eyes!

I recently had my first cataract procedure at Key-Whitman Eye Center. Its been about a week, and I am very pleased with my new vision. I chose the Toric lens, which corrects astigmatism, and I can now see better in my corrected eye than I can with prescription lenses in my other eye. I cant wait to get my second cataract procedure so both eyes will be seeing well! The procedure only took about 10 minutes and I was surprised that I did not feel any pain or even discomfort. The only thing I noticed during my recovery was that sometimes my eye felt a little gritty and I needed to use liquid tears - thats it! Usually, after cataract surgery, you have to use 2-3 prescription drops multiple times a day, which is both expensive and a hassle to remember, but Key-Whitman was able to insert the drops in a time-release form during my procedure. That was such a great benefit! If you have cataracts, I recommend you go to Key-Whitman and ask about that new option. Their staff was very nice and the whole process was seamless from start to finish! I want to disclose that I am a consultant who works with Key-Whitman, and in my work, Ive spoken to almost 100 patients who have improved their vision through their procedures. Thats why I was excited to have the opportunity to have them do my cataract surgery! Based on my vision results so far, theres a good chance I will not even need glasses for distance or intermediate anymore :) Ive known the doctors and staff for many years, and have absolute confidence in their abilities. Highly recommend!
