I PROMISE that Im not a grumpy reviewer. In fact, I NEVER write reviews about places, but this place has EARNED a review over time. Throughout the last 5 years I have been going to this place periodically for my medical needs ranging from acute injuries to illnesses. But here I will describe my injuries and the treatment that I received. YOU can decide for yourself if you will ever visit this clinic; I am simply reporting. 1) Some time in 12/2012 I had an UNFORTUNATE bicycle accident whereby I RACKED my lady parts on the crossbar of my mens bicycle. Blood EVERYWHERE; through my jeans, dripping all over my bathroom floor as I try to see what I did to myself. Because I dont make much money, I always opt for the urgent care facilities before the emergency room. I decided to go to PrimaCare because it is very close to where I live. As the ONLY person in the waiting room with a lacerated labia that was GUSHING blood, I sat in the waiting room for a good 45 minutes. No one would answer my questions about when I would be seen. I pardoned their chuckles when I described my injury, but when the receptionist/nurse lady saw how badly I was bleeding, she had the most disgusted and startled look on her face. Think this would have expedited my examination? Nope! I was given some liquid stitches. Waited for about an HOUR to be discharged. Keep in mind that I am standing because if I laid down then I started gushing blood again. No painkillers or anything. 2) A couple of months ago I twisted an ankle in one of the many large potholes for which Dallas is famous and in the process also busted a knee and a thumb. I toughed it out for a few days but decided to go to PrimaCare again because I was walking like a reject and couldnt use my thumb. The wait was still about 45 minutes to see the doctor. Upon my arrival in the exam room, I waited another HOUR. Then the X-rays were taken. The doctor comes in and gives me a hand brace for my wrist and thumb. "Im sorry, is this necessary?" I asked because my thumb needed more support but my wrist was completely fine. Doctor says that my knee was fine; it is now VISIBLY deformed, as in I AM UNABLE to sit on my legs because my bone actually protrudes out of the knee to dig into the floors. Doctor says my thumb was fine; I am just now regaining the feeling in my thumb. Took another HOUR for discharge. AND to top it off, YESTERDAY - 3 MONTHS LATER - I receive a bill for $156 from the company who made the hand brace. The retail value of the brace is $300, and the $156 balance is apparently AFTER insurance coverage and is supposed to go toward my deductible THAT I NEVER USE BECAUSE I AM POOR. I am now dealing with the company in hopes to resolve this random bill. I cannot believe that the doctor would give me the brace knowing that it would cost so much! Why not give me a good old fashioned splint? Or send me to Walgreens up the street to get a cheap brace? Honestly, the brace that I was given is extremely comparable to that of something you would purchase at Walgreens. I will NEVER go here again. Well, with the exception of the visit that I will have with them tomorrow regarding this bill for the hand brace. Wish me luck, and take care of yourself! FML.

This place gets 0 stars...I went in on saturday...thought I had a UTI...lady doc says that is what it is...lady doc gives me bactrim which has sulfa in it...from other recent blogs, posts and articles Ive read...this drug is rarely prescribed anymore because it is so common for people to be allergic to sulfa...she asked me if I was allergic to any drugs? how should I know? I told her "not to my knowledge"...so instead of testing my urine culture to see how it responds to the anitbiotic before giving it me, she decided to give it to me anyway and pray I dont have an allergic reaction...I did have one...in fact, running over 103 temp and fingers going numb, spaced out in a daze feeling and hallucinations, barely able to even climb into bed because i was having muscle spasms... on wednesday I go back to this primacare clinic on Mockingbird...a different doc (male hispanic) diagnoses me with UTI and gives me another antibiotic to take along side the bactrim...even though I specifically told him all the sypmtoms above...now my skin is covered in hot rash with blisters...now that I only have one pill of bactrim left, I called the doc office and they advised me to stop taking it...nooooooo...really? oh please let me take the last one... idiots!... A little advice to the clinic...try offering the patient a choice as to whether or not they would like to have their sample cultures tested against different meds to figure out which is going to work best for that patient...we like choices...do we not? we are not guinea pigs to play with....we are human beings...your job is to save lives...not destroy them! Frankly I felt better before I went to this clinic...I have been out of work for an entire week now because of this mess, I dont get paid when I dont work and to top it off I had to wait 3-4 hours each visit and I called ahead...It was below freezing outside, I was running a high fever and asked for a blanket and tylonal twice from 2 different people and never received either...I was freezing to the point my teeth were chattering and muscles were tense.... People! find yourself a family doctor you can trust...dont go here....Im not sure they know what they are doing...

I was very ill and expected to be treated distantly when I went in with what I feared to be a kidney infection. Instead I was treated with compassion and care and even love from Jody at the front to my incredible Nurse, Michell, to the Nurse who drew my blood, Kathy, and Dr. Srinivasan. Kathy, who drew the blood, was amazing. I felt nothing and had no bruise. I always get a bruise, but not this time! Michell became my advocate from the beginning and made sure Dr Srinivasan knew my full story. Michell also had to give me a shot with a thick antibiotic in it. It was supposed to hurt and leave me sore. It did not, b/c Michell knows how to give a shot. Dr Srinivasan was lovely and got to the bottom of my situation. It is not a minor thing to go into a Primacare on a weekend towards the end of the day. They treated me like it was the beginning of the day. I have gone to this location for the past 8 years when an illness hits over the weekend or when I needed stitches. For this visit, I used the Online check-in tool to get in line and was able to drive in 40 min later. That allowed me to stay hm in comfort while I went from 8th to 2nd in line. Use the online check-in and know you will be given excellent care. Yes, you will have to wait even when you are called back. But, good care takes time.

Ive been there twice for weekend urgent care. Im a registered nurse so I know the difference between competent doctors and those who shouldnt be practicing medicine. The care provided to me on both occasions was respectful, professional and effective. I was given Bactrim for an infection on my last visit which I was happy to take (please see ranting/raving by "nunya" below). Bactrim is an antibiotic and like any other drug, including aspirin or Tylenol, it can cause side effects or allergic reactions. Unless you know you have an allergy, there is no reason it shouldnt be prescribed. And what does "nunya" mean by "how should I know" regarding allergies? Good grief - doctors rely on their patients to provide an accurate history. If you dont know what youre allergic to, the doctor surely doesnt. But back to my review - you can expect to wait to see a doctor, its a walk-in clinic after all. But the care is worth waiting for. My doctors spent about 20-30 minutes with me on both occasions. Care was excellent. No complaints.
