I have been going here for 2 years. The first time I needed new glasses because I had about a year of contacts still at home. Knowing the how it works, you know all the extra fitting fees, so I explained that I only needed glasses. As I left they gave me the whole contact experience and tried to charge me for a "fitting fee". I had to insist I only wanted glasses. It was awkward and confusing. The next year (2016) I only needed contacts. I have always used Air Optics without any issues. They didnt have my exact prescription so they gave me some very close to my prescription to try. I guess this was worth the "fitting fee". They worked fine so I wore them for the first month. When I got my order and began wearing them I had a little discomfort, naturally it had to be the break-in period for my new hardly changed prescription. I wore them off and on for the 2nd month rotating them with my glasses. Now I am on my second ordered pair (month 2 from my exam), my left eye twitches and both eyes are drying out every other hour. Something was not right, I did a quick review search and found similar complaints from other long time Air Optic wearers. I called Dr. Blacks office and asked if I could exchange the unopened box for another brand. I was transferred around and told I would need to pay for another visit which I was not excited about but said ok but first could I even exchange my unopened boxed (2, a six month supply). I was told "No" they only have a 30 day return policy. I now have an appointment at another eye doctor. So thats my story, maybe you will fare better.

I found Dr. Black using the internet and subsequent user reviews and I was not disappointed. I had been without my contacts for two weeks with headaches to show for it. I scheduled my initial appointment over the phone and was told that if a sooner open came up, they would call…..and they did. It just so happened that someone reschedule and I was able to come in sooner than I had anticipated. I was instantly greeted by a warm smile and pleasant attitude. Everyone was courteous, efficient and positively professional. Great customer service is very important to me and when good service is provided, I feel it is my duty to praise those involved and share the experience. Sometimes, just a warm smile on a bad day is enough to change your mood, or vice versa. I can say unequivocally that I was impressed by Dr. Black and his entire staff. The overall cost for the appointment was very much in line and even a bit lower than I expected. It is nice to have a great doctor near my home in Richardson who is friendly, experienced and pleasant to visit. My wait time was short and the total visit was less than one hour. Dr. Black tweaked my prescription and he did a good job….I CAN SEE AGAIN! If you live in Richardson or DFW, please consider scheduling your next eye exam with Dr. Black. You can have the exam and order your glasses right there or contacts on the spot. You will not be disappointed.

I have been a patient of Dr. Blacks for over 10 years now. He is an outstanding doctor who communicates very well with patients about their exams, issues, and questions. He is very kind and knowledgeable. He also takes the time out to get to know each individual patient and doesnt make you feel rushed in any way, as most doctors do. He makes sure you are on the best track to keeping your eyes and overall self healthy. The staff is also outstanding. They are all so welcoming, kind, and caring. They make sure you are being taken care of at all times and help out with any insurance, glasses/contacts, pretesting questions or any other questions you might have as well. They always have a smile on their faces, which is great! The frame selection is also diverse and up to date. There is something for everyone at Dr. Blacks. He and his staff are the best!

I have been a patient of Dr Black for years. Having a family history of glaucoma, Dr Black has been very attentive to taking care of my ocular needs. My visits are quick and pleasant. The office staff is friendly and accommodating. When choosing my glasses, they were beyond patient making sure that I loved my decision. My daughter was equally assisted when graduating to contacts and she loved the athletic freedom that they gave her. Thank you Dr Black.

Ive been going to Doctor Black since the first time I needed glasses, some 11 years ago, I think. Ive had nothing but positive experiences with them, the staff is absolutely amazing, Doctor Black is fantastic, understanding and knowledgeable, and with the slightest of problems with your glasses or contacts, theyll take care of it, most of the time for free. Id highly recommended Douglas Black to anyone looking for a fantastic optometrist!

Always a personable doctor. Takes time to listen to my needs. Staff is all smiles and very helpful. They always have a nice selection of glasses for me to chose from and I always get compliments on my selections! Even when I work a little further from his office I still make the drive to Richardson because I know I will be well taken care of! 8 years and counting!

Ive been going here for years. The office is comfortable and clean. The staff is nice, and Dr Black is very laid back and personal. You never feel rushed. The staff is also very helpful in giving you rebate forms for contacts, and even organizing and highlighting things for you on the forms.

They arent correct with the time. They told us to come back in 40 minutes and when we came back they said that our glasses werent ready. Im unhappy about the time. Thats a fool service.

Dr Black is by far the best eye doctor Ive ever been to. Ive been to many optometrists around the world. The only downside is the wait time. Otherwise, a very clean facility.
