We came here two weeks ago because the reviews were glowing, but I wish we hadnt. We had just moved from Colorado Springs and the journey didnt do any favors for my 16 year old cat, Wisp, who was already starting to decline before we left. In watching her, I had come to the conclusion that it was time to say good bye. She wasnt acting normal in any respect and I didnt want to wait until she was even more uncomfortable. We made the apppintment which was a consultation so the Doctor could decide if Euthanasia was the best choice. We get in there, explain whats happening and wait. Dr. Mulvey comes in, we explain everything again while he roughly examined my cat (who, by the way, growled and hissed at him...something she has never done for any vet before him) and then looks over her records and he tells me she is 100% healthy with the exception of the hyperthyroidism that she was tested for in February by a different veterinarian. We hadnt been medicating because our previous vet wasnt able to get the retest and meds done before we moved to GA. When he saw her record of hyperthyroidism he completely ignored all the other symptoms and attributed everything back to it which was a complete crock of crap. He then told us he refused to euthanize a "healthy" animal just because they had a treatable disease and that he was sure other vets would if we took her elsewhere (he said it like I was desperate to kill her. Seriously?) but he wouldnt because, you know, she was perfectly healthy. He then told us that if we didnt want to treat her we should surrender her to a rescue where they would give her the care she needed. He not only made me feel like a terrible owner, but he also instilled hope that my cat was fine which, in hindsight was wrong anyway because you cant see kidney function or internal issues by palpating the patient. He also belittled my concerns for her and made it seem like I wanted the easy way out which is so inapropriate. You dont bully people into treatments. No matter what. As though euthanasia was an easy choice for a beloved pet I had had since I was six years old. Are you kidding me? Anyway - that night when we got her home She started peeing blood and urinating beside or near her litterbox. I got her in to a different vet for a urinalysis as I was sure thats what it was, I mean we had JUST seen another doctor, surely he would have seen something worse right? Wrong. The UTI was nonexistent and my Cat was declining rapidly. The following Friday, August fifth, we had to say goodbye to her. Hardest decision Ive ever made to date. I expected a good long while with her thanks to Dr. Mulveys "its all hyperthyroid related" approach. The other veterinarian said it was probably kidney failure causing the blood and the rapid decline or even cancer and that I had been right about her not being okay. She also told me euthanasia was the right decision since we didnt have a ton of money to pay for the plethora of tests that would confirm what was suspected and force us to have to put her down anyway. Why put her through the pain Or the stress? She didnt like being in the car. She didnt like to be moved. She just wanted to sleep all day and hide in the sink or bathtub. The quality of life was bad and the blood she was leaving around the house coincided with her lethargy. She wasnt happy and it was time. Eurhansia is a mercy so dont ever let a doctor bully you into treating when you know whats right for your pet. I hope this helps someone in a similar situation. While I understand the "no euthanasia" approach, that isnt always correct and speaking to an already grieving owner the way he spoke to my husband and I is absolutely unacceptable. While cheaper, the experience here wasnt worth it and I wont be going back. Ever. Find a vet that listens to you as an owner. Good luck with your furry family members all.

A friend of mine recommended Dr. Mulvey and his staff to me. We had been caring for a stray cat that was obviously in need of food and shelter at the very least. As the weeks and months went by, we saw a noticeable improvement in her condition. However, as we began to develop feelings for her; we also noticed that her general health was declining. We decided to take her to a vet with the hope of getting her well and healthy again. From the moment I entered the place I realized that they really cared! After a brief visit with the very nice vet-tech, she left and quickly returned with Dr. Mulvey. He gently examined her and told me fairly quickly that she was VERY sick. I was stunned to say the least, and asked if there was anything he could do for her. He requested an Ultra Sound and that confirmed his diagnosis. Tragically, she was too sick to help get well. So, we decided that the best thing we could do was to put her to sleep. I held her until she was gone, and was asked how I wanted to deal with the body. They offered to take care of everything for me and I quickly accepted. I headed to the front desk and prepared to pay a very large bill. To my surprise, the bill was extremely reasonable, especially considering the time and services that were offered. A few days went by and I received the kindest and most compassionate hand written note from their practice. Every staff member had written some condolence about our sense of loss. Also, they had paw prints the kitty on a note card! Suffice it to say, these people have restored my faith in humanity, but especially in business people engaged in healthcare. THANK YOU, SO MUCH!

Thanks to Dr. Mulvey and his most amazing staff. We took our dog to the vet clinic for the 3 years that we were living in Savannah. Dr. Mulvey is extremely attentive to our dog and remembered his ailments every time we went in. Also, my dog really didnt even mind going to the clinic as he did with previous vets. He truly cares about his patients and it shows when he gets on the floor and is gentle to their every pain. The clinic is VERY clean, they are prompt with results, the receptionists and assistants are prompt and courteous and the prices are affordable. I am just so sorry that we had to move and are now faced with finding another vet. I wish the clinic and the Dr. all the best. Thank you for being so attentive to our sweet boy!

I left my critically ill dog there to be watched for the day after emergency surgery at a hospital in Charleston. When I picked her up she was very sick and in much worse shape than when I left her. When I called a day later early in the morning because she was getting sicker. He could/would not see her until late that afternoon. I explained how sick she was. They said I could just bring her in and leave her. No way after the first day she was there! My sweet baby died. I see that Dr. Mulvey is a wonderful vet to many people and I am not sure why my experience was so different. While he certainly did not cause my sweet babys death, he certainly contributed to it. I did not find any compassion or caring there.
