Several years ago a beagle named Droopy-D was diagnosed w/ Valley Fever by Dr Sam who, at the time, wasnt so sure he was going to make it. He told me it was the second highest count of the infection that he had seen - the first did not make it. Droopy-D was with me chasing rabbits he never caught on the weekends and full of spunk for a few years afterward with daily medication. When it came time to say good-bye I called (crying) and talked to both Ramona and Dr Sam who said to bring him in and be prepared. My year old daughter, her dad, and Thug the cat said good-bye and I carried him out in a big blanket given to me by a very special friend who had passed on. I stopped at the empty lot we went for walks in and rolled down the window. Droopy didnt even look. So, wrapped in the blanket with me at his side petting his head and saying, "old Droopy D, gonna get those bunnies..." his tail started thumping again, and then faded to nothing as Dr Sam gave him an injection. He left the room, saying hed give me some time alone. I dont remember how things went or if I had an money at all. I left that day smiling through tears though, assured by Ramona that he AND the blanket would be cremated. I recd the hand-written card a week later. It would be almost three years before I found myself in a financial position to pay back the $200.00 I had promised. Ramona looked up at me and smiled as I walked in that front door and I went from apologetic to laughing through my tears again as Ramona graciously accepted the money. Oh and Droopy D? She gave me his ashes and urn with his name inscribed, taking it right off of her desk where it had been placed years before. I wish I could find a Dr Sam for my kids and myself. Im taking my pit in soon and will ask Dr Sam about Ramona (thank-you forever) . . . after I introduce Tink and thank him again. If you are looking for someone whos interest is your animals comfort and happiness, and who will be down-to-earth and honest with you, this is where you go. If you want fake and fancy - dont.

Ive been taking two households of pets to Dr. Sam Wolf since the clinic first opened (for over 5-6 years now.) He is a WONDERFUL VET! Dr. Sam is the most thorough vet I have found. Whenever I bring my dogs or my parents cats in, he always takes his time when doing an exam rather than skipping that step and getting right to the issue. Each exam he checks over the entire body of the pet, eyes, ears, nose, throat, teeth ect. He is slow and thorough and always very kind and gentle. I have had him help me with trivial issues such as minor infections, and routine stuff all the way up to extreme cases of ear mites, flea dermatitis, liver disease in my cat when she was dying, and recovery from a major operation after my moms cat was brutally cut open. Dr. Sam is alway conscientious of my budget while giving great care to my pets. He truly cares most about the wellbeing of the animal rather than capitalizing on each client. With each issue he will list the options of care with a budget in mind. If there is a more affordable option that will help as much as a more expensive one he wont hesitate to share it. Whenever I call with a concern the office staff is alway extremely courteous and takes the time to check with the technicians or vets to get answers to my questions. This clinic doesnt skip steps or hustle you around, I cant emphasize enough how much I believe they all truly care about the needs of each animal and helping educate each client on with each issue that arises. My family and I have spent many years in Phoenix with pets and we havent found a better vet than Dr. Sam. I have since moved to San Diego and I love him as my dogs vet so much that I return to Phoenix for non-emergent issues when I can because I trust my dogs (also known as my children) care in his hands more than anyone.

Dr. Sam and his office staff are simply the best. I have been taking my two dogs to him for over a year for routine checkups/shots, valley fever treatment, and epilepsy treatment. We could not be happier with the time and attention that our dogs receive at Higley Road. At every visit, our dogs are greeted by the friendly office staff and vet techs. They always shower the pups with compliments (and cookies). When drawing blood or taking vitals, the vet techs are extremely caring and gentle. Dr. Sam conducts a thorough examination at each visit and always offers to let us see in the ears and listen to the heatbeat with the stethescope. He is so gentle and truly has a gift with animals. When we visited Dr. Sam for valley fever treatment and for a minor skin infection, he did a complete examination and took the time to explain the condition to us. He then presented us with the various treatment options, including their approximate costs, and let us know what he would do. This made us feel educated and involved in our dogs treatment. We have found that the cost of service at HIgley Road is extremely reasonable, especially for the superior level of care that our animals receive there. We also called the office last Halloween when our beagle helped himself to an entire bag of chocolate candy. Dr. Sam was on the phone right away, obtaining additional information and again, explaining the options to me. We recommend Higley Road to all of our friends and family. If you are looking for excellent care for your pet at a reasonable cost, go see Dr. Sam. You will not be disappointed.

So heres the deal... I found a 4 week old kitten and brought her in for a check up. A normal routine check up, nothing fancy. The main doctor had to bring his assistant in because he doesnt know anything about cats. How can you be in business as a vet and not know how to do a cat check up? That shouldve been my first sign to leave. Then we asked if she had fleas because we would find little dirt particles all over her and sometimes see bugs on her. They said no she didnt have fleas and even looked at her under the microscope to "make sure." Ok we were happy we left. a day passes and we are still seeing bugs on her so we bring her back to look at her again because we are definitely seeing bugs. They assure us she doesnt have fleas once again so we just think we are going crazy also they said her ears were dirty so they cleaned them for us. Thanks? Another day goes past and we still see bugs so we go to Petsmart and buy a flea comb. One swipe brought out at least 20 fleas and flea eggs and dust. So we took her to another vet and finally got treatment for her fleas and they are dumbfounded how they didnt realize she had fleas. Its been about a year now and we always noticed she had dirty ears and we would clean them but we didnt think anything of it we just thought she had dirty ears. Now finds out shes been living with ear mites for a year because that first vet thought her ears were just dirty, not infested with ear mites. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I dont know how a vets office can miss fleas twice and ear mites, it astounds me.
