UPDATE 06/30/2017: We were turned away today on our second visit due to the first review I posted two weeks ago. I was immediately turned away by Liz, the front end receptionist for "posting a nasty review" and "unless I deleted the review," the vet refused to see my 6 month old Golden Retriever. I told her I was extremely careful about not using "he/she" or naming any specific vet in the review and the first review was based around how I felt as a pet owner. Liz responded by saying "the vets look out for each other here at the practice." I was then also told to take my puppy elsewhere and that they would gladly print out his records so I could take him to see a different doctor for his follow-up shots. Dr Dana, the vet my puppy saw on the first visit, did not even acknowledge us when we walked into the clinic while she was in the lobby and instead went straight to the back. None of the vets came to address the issue or attempted to see if anything could be resolved. I did not receive a call ahead of time telling me that they were going to cancel my appointment unless I deleted the review. Buckwalter Vet has also hidden my review on their Facebook page and I do not understand how a clinic with such poor customer service exists. Original post: 06/09/2017: I was referred to Buckwalter Veterinary Clinic by some friends who could not stop talking about how great the vets here are. We went for our first visit today and after telling the vet the reason why we were behind on shots, the vet continued to belittle me and lecture me about the importance of regular visits. Not only did it make me feel like I wasnt being listened to, the vet seemed to only care about product-pushing, selling me items I didnt need or ask for. After the first lecture, the vet began telling me I needed to neuter my puppy even after I told them I am planning to in the future, just not until he was much older. Again, it felt like I wasnt being listened to and my main concern for the vet visit in the first place, which was to get my puppys last round of shots, was completely ignored. Then, I was told my puppy was being taken out of the room for a stool sample but when he was returned to me a while later, I was told he was given his shots as well. Without watching and seeing my puppy receive the shots, I do not and can not feel confident that he was actually given shots. I was charged for items I didnt need and when I called back to discuss how I felt, the front desk told me extremely abruptly "once something leaves the building we cant take that back." I cant help but feel extremely disappointed and taken advantage of. Unfortunately I will have to follow-up with his last round of shots at the clinic but I did request to see a different vet. I do hope the second experience will be better than the first.

We have tried a few veterinary clinics for our cats and dog on Hilton Head Island, and believe me, there is no doubt which one is the best. In fact, the doctors at Buckwalter Veterinary Clinic are so good that we drive the 17 miles one-way to their office in Bluffton rather than use somebody else who is closer. Compassion is the word most used when people describe Dr.’s Richard Bink, Dana Resetarits, and Daniel Iyer. At every visit, they take the time to hold and reassure our pets and put them at ease. When Michou, one of our ragdoll cats, had cancer and had to be put to sleep, Dr. Dana came to our house to make it easier on the cat as well as us. Michou, who always hid from non-family visitors at our home, came out to greet her. He went to sleep very peacefully with my wife holding him. Recently, our other ragdoll, Cai, had to have ACL surgery. It was bad timing since we were preparing for an extended trip, and we were supposed to leave in 10 days. Dr. Daniel had already booked surgeries three weeks out, but he made the extra effort to accommodate us. The cat went into surgery last Thursday, and, four days later, is already moving much better with very little limp. If you love your pets, you will love Buckwalter Veterinary Clinic. Pretty harsh reception desk. I just moved to this area about a month ago. This past week I made my 1st appointment for one of my 3 dogs to be seen for a rputine vaccine update. As it turns out , my other dog suddenly became critically ill and had to be rushed to a neurosurgeon for a MRI/Spinal Tap procedure in Savannah as he suddenly became paralyzed and lost all use of his back legs. Even so, I called Dr. Binks office and let them I wouldnt be in. I had to put my dog down and it has been a horrible week. Still, I did want Dr. Bink to see my other dog next week for general care. I was informed that because they didnt have a record of me calling to reschedule and considered me a "no show", they wouldnt schedule a new appointment with me. I told the receptionist, I think thats pretty harsh. I just told you our circumstances, we just put our other dog down two day ago. She wouldnt reconsider. So, would you take your dog to a place where they are so heartless? Anyone and everyone that loves their pets, can understand how messy things can get when we have to make the critical decision to put a pet down. A vet in particular and his staff should show compassion for families that go through this horrific situation.

This place is a disgrace to all of Bluffton. The staff and Dr. Iyers care more about money money money than any animal. I waited for 2 hours even with an appointment. All they talked about was money. My pet nor I ever even spoke or saw the doctor. He kept sending messages to me via his staff until finally I walked out. He is a disgrace to Veterinarians. Even though his office is 2 miles from my house I will definitely be going somewhere else. Shame on me since this is my second experience of this with this office. I called for the after hours emergency one night and was told to go to Savannah since both doctors were "stuck in Savannah" on Halloween. I have ferrets and not every vet sees them. I was just told to go to Savannah. When I asked where to go as I was frantically driving, I got no answer except go to Savannah. Not where, not who, not a phone number, an address, not even a "Ill call for you." That ferret ended up dying because I was also told that they could see her the next morning to follow up. Well, they never even called me. I called them and was told that there were no appointments that day, not even for an emergency follow up. Please!!! I sat in the parking lot and cried.

I was a little reluctant to bring my dog here, mostly because I usually like to have a good recommendation from someone prior to using a new service. I had received a mailing from Buckwalter Vet Clinic and thought, well, it is closer than his other vet, and they were offering a free first time consultation. I could not have been happier- Dr. Bremer and his staff were very knowledgeable and accommodating to me and my little baby! Dr. Bremer spent a straight hour talking to me about my concerns and helping to develop a reasonable care plan for my little guy. If you are thinking about switching Vets, this is the one to go to. The services are VERY reasonably priced (especially when compared to other Bluffton Vets) and I felt like they not only treated my pet medically, but also took a personal approach with our future care.
