After a couple of years of working to befriend my "semi-feral" cat, Mr. Peepers, he finally felt confident and trusting enough to come inside the house and hang out for short and long periods of time. One evening while he was inside, he appeared to be having urinary problems, but he allowed me to get him in a cat carrier and since it was after hours at my regular vets office, I called Tybee Animal after hours and Dr. Jenkins offered to immediately meet me at the Tybee Clinic. After explaining to her that Mr. Peepers only experience with a vet was when he was trapped, neutered and released as a feral and I didnt know how he would react when he was out of his carrier. She assured me not to worry - and as she opened the carrier door, Mr. Peepers turned into a flying squirrel! He jumped up on the blinds, on the walls and finally hide behind some furniture. Dr. Jenkins very calmly assured me that he would be fine - after he found his quiet place. She then turned into "a cat whisperer" and was able to gently get him up on the exam table by placing a small cloth over his eyes - which seemed to work magic. She proceeded to examine him and diagnosed his condition as a serious urinary tract infection; after two shots (plus a rabies vaccination, since it was due), we left the office. Dr. Jenkins also spent time with me discussing what steps I may be able to take to make sure Mr. Peepers drank sufficient amounts of water, and also suggested a special cat food that, has truly made all the difference in his health! Needless to say, I immediately became a fan and supporter of Dr. Jenkins and Tybee Animal Care. I now take all my animals there, as does my sister and other friends and associates who have learned about the special treatment that their pets received from Tybee Animal Care - and Mr. Peepers is Dr. Jenkins biggest advoCATe! I love stopping by to pick up the prescribed cat food (although Dr. Jenkins gave me a prescription to purchase at PetSmart) just to say hello and always enjoy the dogs that are there for doggie day care - who are often behind the front desk, wagging their tales with big smiles to greet people! submitted by Shirley Carroll Sessions

This place is horrible! Do not trust them to keep your animals safe/healthy. My husband and I left our dogs there this past weekend over the 4th and we came to pick them up on Sunday morning and one of them was having horrible diarrhea. She had pooped in her crate because they only came to walk the dogs at 9am and 5pm, which in my opinion, is borderline animal abuse. However, they claim that they walk the dogs several times per day. Both of them drank about 5 bowls of water as soon as we got them home, which they also claim they put water in their crates, another lie. After my dog had pooped in her crate and rolled in it, the vet tech offered to bathe her since she was obviously covered in it, in which we were then charged for the bath, where she did not even bother to wash her head. The vet offered to give my dog some anti-diarrheal medicine, and I agreed to it after I saw what looked to be water pouring out of my dog after she went to the bathroom. She stated that she needed to be able to say that she "at least examined her", then proceeded to look at her ears, listen to her lungs/heart, totaling about 20 seconds. After this quite brief examination, she insisted on charging us a vet visit along with the cost of the medication. My poor dog proceeded to have diarrhea for the next 24 hours and to make matters even worse they forgot to put her food back in our bag. When I called today, the vet tech claimed she tried to call us and leave us a message that she had forgotten to put her food back in the bag, however she had the wrong number, even though my reservation was under the correct number and the 2 forms that I had to fill out upon arrival had it in several different places. I would never recommend this place to anybody, ever! Please do not leave your animals here!

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Jenkins...she has been a lifesaver this winter for my cats, one which has had chronic infections all his life--Dr. Jenkins was the first one ever who finally identified the causes of his problem and treated it. She (and Dr. Thompson) are always available, day and night. I feel SO grateful they are out there to help us in emergencies or for just everyday pet needs. Just yesterday, I took part of my pet zoo (dog and cats) to see Dr. Jenkins so she could dose them all with Comfortis--those pills are just too big for me to get them administered...but she did it for me! They are really wonderful and a tremendous asset to the community. They recently opened a place downtown so that area is lucky to have them too!

Impressive work by a colleague on an after hour emergency!! Impressed with Dr. Jenkins professionalism with a semi feral cat over the weekend. From Ms. Shirley Sessions; "Dr. Jenkins Rocks!! An emergency situation with my semi-feral cat Mr. Peepers was a surprisingly great experience. She took care of his pain and was so gentle with Mr. Peepers. I plan to bring my other pets to Dr. Jenkins."

Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Thompson are the best. I have transferred the care of 5 pets from a clinic downtown to their Tybee Clinic thanks to the AMAZING service and care they give my furry friends. Always ready to explain what the problems are and go above and beyond to give excellent care. They really care and it shows. Plus they are great with the animals!

The vet is AWESOME! My poor lab had pups and one of her teats developed Mastitis, she was so gentle and HAND expressed the mad teat, then RX her meds and helped us save our puppies. I love this vet!
