This place will nikel and dime you to death. After years of letting Banfield overcharge me for vet care (constant extra fees and billing surprises), I finally stopped going there. This week, though, my dog needed a bordatella vaccination so that I can board him this weekend. For convenience sake, I called Banfield thinking that surely, they could handle a simple bordatella shot without charging an arm and a leg. A bordatella shot should cost about $25. But of course, because its Banfield, they didnt tell me on the phone that I would also be paying a $40.95 "office visit" fee that is mandatory for your pet to get an injection of any kind, plus another $8.50 "blood sample" fee, plus another $3.40 "waste disposal" fee. So the $25 shot became $77.80. I should have expected this. They will try to convince you that the office visit fee is a "physical," but a physical should carry you through for at least a few months. Instead, I confirmed that if I wanted to get another vaccination for my pet the next day, I would have the pleasure of paying yet another $40.95 for another office visit. So this isnt really a physical. Its a pointless fee (well, pointless for me - Im sure they are enjoying picking up $40.95 every time an animal needs the slightest thing). I was told this is Banfield policy. While I waited for the technician to come take my dog back to get this simple shot, I called Commonwealth Animal Hospital who will do the bordatella shot for the appropriate amount of approximately $25 - no extra office visit fee or any other fee. So I took my dog and walked out of Banfield and wont be back. Commonwealth was able to see me and my dog later that day with no fanfare or extra charges. Please, for the sake of your wallet, call other vets in Charlotte and give them a try - you will be surprised at how affordable care can be at a normal vet clinic. I was.

My wife and I signed up for the puppy wellness plan, and it was alright at first. Seemed like a good deal at the time, although any time we went in for a routine appointment we came out paying for than our normal monthly dues. We signed our dog up when she was 2 months old, fast forward about 8 months down the road, our dog starts limping, so we brought her in. They have no clue at all whats causing it, so they give her an X-Ray (which comes along with an upgrade to the plan, which increases the price and extends the original contract that you are bound to). They dont see anything on the X-ray, so they say, lets send it to a specialist. The "specialist" doesnt see anything on the X-ray. They prescribe her some medicine for it anyway even though they dont know what it is. A couple weeks pass and our dog starts limping on the other leg. We bring her in again, they again tell us that they have no idea what it is, and suggest some more medications despite having no clue as to what is causing it. We decline their medication, and took out dog to an actual vet. It took the actual vet about 5 minutes after hearing the symptoms and examining our dog to come up with 2-3 possible causes and solutions for the issue. They prescribed our dog some medicine and she has been great ever since. The fun part is trying to cancel your "wellness" plan. petsmart has made it very difficult to get out of their plan, and definitely a headache if you try to go through with it. Extremely dissatisfied with the experience I had at this petsmart, and will never go to another petsmart again.

I took my cat for checkup since he had been licking himself bald on his shoulder. After tons of money spent on various tests and I knew it must be a simple food allergy. I knew for a fact that it is food allergies because I changed his food so many times and in one instance it made it better, but I wanted to know exactly what caused it. So the doctor recommended an allergy test for $230 and I accepted. After the results came, the only allergies that were tested were things like mold and NO FOOD ALLERGIES!!! Yes, they did not do the food allergy test ONLY for Banfield!!! Telling me that Banfield thinks they are not accurate! Funny, they are accurate for any other kind of mammal including humans! To make it worse they tried making a sale for allergy shots that cost more than $100 per week for the life of the cat and then charging for hypo-allergenic foods. I did not accept any of them and will not pay them another cent. If you think your cat or dog has food allergies or any kind of allergies take them to a private vet or any other place that doesnt try to scam you! So now it makes sense that Banfield doesnt think they are accurate! They can make money off of allergy shots and hyper expensive allergy food to milk you for ever! Shame on the doctors that work there, apparently their oath means nothing to them.

We had just moved to Charlotte, NC, and had a Wellness Plan with Banfield, so I looked up the ones closest to us. I was worried about an ongoing issue with my dog that may have worsened during the move. I was able to make an appointment online for the Monday after New Years and they called to make sure I didnt want one sooner (since you need to call for appointments that are less than 48 hours). When we arrived, the front desk checked us in and got his weight within minutes. We sat down for maybe two minutes and the Veterinarian came our herself to welcome us to the area and bring us into the room. I love that the room was right off the waiting area, too. She took a look and we discussed his history and what our plan of action was. She is a fantastic vet and we will be going back to her every time!

Yesterday, my sweet dog Beau had a big fall & this is the only Banfield that was willing to work us in for a check up. Everyone that I encountered from the woman at the front desk, to the vet tech and Dr. Dayton were 100% genuine and kind. They checked him over and even got him updated on his rabies shot. Everyone I encountered listened to my concerns and made me feel at ease. As I was starting to write this review Dr. Dayton herself called to check in and see how Beau was doing and if I had any questions or concerns. I had a very positive experience at this location and never felt like I was just a number in line.

Absolutely ridiculous!!! Vet techs are nice and helpful. All three vets I have dealt with have not been helpful. They treat the animals like they are strictly a business. On two occasions I have needed emergency care, and they have turned me down because they did not have time. It is not just this location, but the South Park location, and Pineville one as well. I was on the wellness plan but got off of it immediately after my year was up. It didnt give hardly any discounts, and I found that I ended up spending double of what I would have at a normal vet. Dont sign up for the wellness plan- its a scam!
