I rated this Animal care facility a two based on my investigation of several other animal care facilities in the surrounding area and my experience with an animal hospital we have recently found to fully treat our dog that was beyond exceptional. If this review was based on giving a great rating for just the staff then I would have given it 4 stars because our pet did receive kind treatment and the staff was very polite and caring, however; the hospital itself is a complete rip off. Our dog received treatment for bladder stones, the doctor was not able to "flush" the stone(s) back into his bladder to remove the entire blockage stating he would need surgery as soon as possible , also telling us he would not be able to releive himself if we took him home. When we went to pick up our dog he was able to all of a sudden urinate, having the vets story changed from maybe she was able to break up the stone temporarily? They wanted to charge us $900 for this procedure but we told them we only had $600 that day and could have more by Friday and the doctor was able to remove things off the invoice to get us to the price we could afford. They instructed us that placing him on a special science diet could possible helg dissloves the stones and prevent new ones from forming, but our dog has food allergies and cant eat corn meal , or by products , there were no other suggestions after we stated that. Then, the vet stated our dog would need surgery for $3,300 ! I dont know about most homes with a family to provide for but that is alot of money for my family to pay up front, we didnt have pet care and even if we did you still have to pay the fee upfront to receive a reimbursement so it wasnt an option for us. We didnt get to see the $200 xrays to show the bladder stones or blockage and we didnt receive a detailed printout on what was exactly performed on our pet. I called today to speak with the hospital to have a print out sent to our home because we asked around to many other pet owners and even the pet feed store we buy our pet essentials from recommended a WONDERFUL FULL SERVICE animal care hospital that if you google has amazing reviews. I am not at all saying this facility is not equipped with services or staff to give you the care you need but if you want to be mindful of what you are being charged and how much please do your research! I wish we wouldve known about the hospital we are taking our dog to get surgery done at before we wouldve saved $422 so far . Our dog had all his bladder stones flushed out of his tract back into his bladder and is being prepped for surgery with full care and overnight service for an affordable cost with complete breakdown of procedure, a cd rom of xrays showing the stones, pain meds, antibiotics, etc. I can go on and on how different the service was from the animal medical hospital. For peace of mind I hope each everyone reads my review and knows not every hospital will charge over whelming fees and they are just as equipped with full staff, care, and medical services. Have a great day!

About 4 months ago (Mid-February 2017), my current cat was in the office to see Dr. Hathaway because she wasnt feeling well and after doing some lab tests and a physical exam, my cat was diagnosed with diabetes. Since then we have only seen Dr. Hathaway who has done an excellent job answering all my questions as I now have to give my cat insulin shots 2x/day. Dr. Hathaway was amazing explaining the new diet she would need to be on, why the diet was so important to her longer-term management of the diabetes. As well as making sure I felt comfortable learning to give the shots to my little baby. Since the diagnosis Dr. Hathaway has seen my cat regularly for blood work (day-long blood sugar monitoring) to make sure the insulin dosage was correct and after all her blood work is done, Dr. Hathaway personally calls me to let me know the results and to answer any questions I have and to check on the behavior of my cat since she was last at the office. My cat was not use to only eating 2 meals a day and having to wait 12 hours in between, she normally was able to snack and eat from her bowl through out the day. Thanks thanks to Dr. Hathaways referral my cat is even able to have treats. Dr. Hathaway was able to help me manage the crazy antics my cat was pulling in an effort to get more food. Now, today she is only a half pound from her goal weight. Every time Ive taken my cat in the vet tech assisting Dr. Hathaway, has always been very kind and gentle, and attentive while I had any questions or was concerned about another area of my cats health. This is the standard Ive known and love about AMH. They are very consistent with their quality of care, cleanliness, outstanding staff from check-in through check-out, and I know they take good care of my cat and they have her health in mind at the forefront of their practice. This has been my familys vet since 2003 or 2004 and with the host of animals (my mom fostered some cats for several years) that we have taken to AMH the staff was absolutely remarkable. Weve seen a number of the doctors they have on staff including Dr. Kerri Blackburn, Dr. Bridget Andersen, Dr. Sandy Tisdelle, Dr. Ashley Gray, and Dr. Lauren Hathaway. Every time I have been to AMH, the front staff and vet techs are always courteous, professional and considerate. Ive recommended AMH to several friends when their pets have been sick, or needed a new vet. They have always thanked me for the referral and said how well their experience was.

I was 8 months pregnant when we brought our 6 year old German shepherd to AMH for limping. He had been limping for a little over a week and we had always been customers of AMH and so we called at first to get some advice and were able to get a vet on the phone. The vet said that it could be a torn ligament as this is common in young active dogs (and Bishop was very active!) and that if he was otherwise acting normal, a few days of rest might help but that if it didnt improve we should bring him in. Needless to say he did not improve. We brought him to AMH. Dr. Tisdelle did a very thorough exam and he was repeatedly painful when she stretched his knee. She was worried it could be a ligament tear but since she could not feel any swelling or other changes wanted to take an X-ray for more information. Fortunately, she said, all of their X-rays are read by a radiologist because the radiologist noticed a small change that might mean he had cancer. Both my husband and I (and I think the vet) were very surprised since he was only 6. The vet seemed very understanding about the cost of more X-rays but she felt strongly that we should take the radiologists advice and look in his chest for the source of cancer. Unfortunately bishop had cancer all throughout his lungs and suspected on his heart too. We were so shocked because he had seemed like his normal self other than the limp. Dr. Tisdelle was so empathetic when she gave us the news and allowed us to ask all the questions we needed. Bishops cancer was terminal. We took him home to spend our last days with him but he passed suddenly the very next day when the tumor bled (which the vet also warned us about). Im so glad that we knew what to expect before it happened. We never would have known and would have been completely blindsided had Dr. Tisdelle not encouraged us to move forward with tests. I know veterinary care can be expensive but I trust the doctors at AMH to make solid decisions for my pet and for me, it is worth every penny to know someone has my dogs best interest at heart. We miss our Bishop so much but this could have been a much more scary scenario had we not been prepared. Luckily, he passed peacefully in our home with us by his side.
