I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS VET OFFICE! I have been going to this vet for 2 years - give or take - and it has always been... alright. Not the best vet services I have experienced. But nothing terrible either. Until recently. About a month ago my cat Roxxy started urinating outside of her litterbox. She is only 3 years old and was wetting her own bed and I very extremely worried about what could be wrong. I gave them a urine sample and they said she had a severe urinary tract infection and gave me medicine to give her. After having her on the medicine for over 2 weeks she was still regularly urinating all over the house - unable to control her bladder. I took a urine sample in and they said that her infection was cleared and that the problem was solved. When I explained that she was still urinating outside of her litterbox my response was exactly, "Well, we arent sure what your options are at this point. We feel she might be in pain. So, if you want we can give you pain medicine to give to her". This was told to me by a receptionist who said she had spoke to Dr McLaughlin about my options. I was completely in shock and felt helpless! They did not offer or advise for any more tests to be done. Or bring up seeing her again. If they thought she was in pain you would think they would want to find out why... not give an innocent animal pain medicine without confirming if she needs it or not. I was depressed for about a week not knowing what I should do. Diapering my cat and her still going outside of her litterbox. Then a coworker suggested Great Lakes Animal Hospital in Clinton Township. Although it was 30 minutes away I made an appointment and took Roxxy in. And I am so glad I did. The vet went over all my options with me. She did a full exam, took more urine, and even did bloodwork so we could make sure to rule out anything serious. The next day the vet (Dr Patel) called me personally to go over the results! She didnt have a receptionist call me. She let me know that Roxxy still has a urinary tract infection and needs more medicine. Now my cat is getting properly treated and is finally going in her litterbox. I am so relieved. Another problem with McLaughlin is they dont take the urine directly from the animal. Which gives better results than a sample brought from home. Since they apparently thought her infection was cleared when it wasnt at all. ALL PET OWNERS: RESEARCH AND LOOK INTO WHERE YOU TAKE YOUR PETS! THEY CANT CHOOSE THEIR OWN VET AND DESERVE SOMEONE WHO WILL TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEM! SOMEONE WHO CARES ABOUT THEIR WELL-BEING!

I have been going to McLaughlin Animal Hospital for many years now. Dr. McLaughlin deserved a top-rated review from me long ago. I have many examples to offer which would exhibit the fact that he does what he does because he truly cares for the animals ... He absolutely is not focused on profit, and it is plainly evident to me many times over. This is the kind of person you want to oversee the health of your pets; someone who is most concerned about the well-being of the animals. I do owe him a debt of gratitude since he has taken care of several of my pets and done a very fine job. He is an exceptionally caring person. He was originally recommended to me by the owner of a large and successful rescue who was in the business for many years (and still is), and she recommended him highly then and still does. In fact, he is the only person she recommends at all -- period. She took all of her own pets to him, as well as recommending him to everyone she came into contact with. After all, the opinion of a person in the industry is extremely pertinent (i.e., a person who has made animals their lifes work; they get to know who is the best and their reputation is important to them; therefore, they will not recommend just anyone). My cousin also runs a well-known rescue in the area, and trust me that it is difficult to find a vet who makes a true and honest effort to provide affordable services with that personal touch. I have heard many stories and am thankful I have a vet I can trust. I just want to thank Dr. McLaughlin for all he has done, and for making superb veterinary services accessible for my family. He is one in a million. His staff is wonderful as well; the front desk gal has helped me for many years and is exemplary, also. Dont hesitate to call them!

I have been taking my animals to Tim for over 20 years. When my lab passed at home at the age of 14, my friend took her to Tim to have him care for her one last time. He was so impressed with the compassion and gentleness with which he showed to my Dusty, even though she was no longer with us. Most recently, my youngest Minas life was literally saved by Tim, when no one else could figure out what was wrong with her, he did. She ran a fever for 2 weeks straight! Emergency vet, xrays, ultrasounds, bloodwork found nothing. He deduced what it could be, a type of immune-mediated anemia, and gave me my little girl back. I will always take my babies to him!

Dr McLaughlin is very helpful and his office staff is very friendly and capable. The facilities are clean. He does not overcharge and there is never a wait. He did refer us to another vet when my dog needed further diagnostics though and would not make an appointment to put that pet down for 3 days. Also, he misdiagnosed a case of lice on my dog as allergies for 3 months. I needed to discover the root cause of the itching and hair loss myself although I had brought her in multiple times. So, I recommend for routine work, but not necessarily if you have problems with your pet.

Im getting a puppy next week, and I for sure will return to McLaughlin Animal Hospital. I switched to Mclaughlin for my Labrador Retriever, Nick, when he was an older geriatric dog. How I wish I had started with this vet. The office was so kind to me and, while I knew Nick didnt have much longer, they assured me that I would know when it was the right decision to put him down. It broke my heart to say good-bye to him, but with their care & concern for both Nick & I, I could rest easy that I did the right thing.

Dr. McLaughlin is a knowledgeable, caring, efficient vet who does not overcharge. He is willing to discuss many options for your pets health and my pet is always happy to go there, even for nail clipping, which is a great deal there as well. He even recommended a type of dog based on our family lifestyle (a pug) and it has been a great choice for us.

My familys vet for almost 20 years. Small quiet clinic with friendly staff. Dr McLaughlin is wonderful with the animals and takes the extra time needed with our nervous mastiff. Highly recommended from us !
