Brought my cat here to be spayed a few years ago, with a voucher that I picked up from the Humane Society. Came to pick her up and was told to never bring her back as she was the worst cat theyve ever encountered. They said she got loose and they had to lock up all of the animals and they had to get the leather gloves out in order to get her back in her cage. I was told she was irate and absolutely could not be controlled. They performed the procedure, but left her to rot in her own urine and feces afterward; she was completely covered in it. Who knows how long she was sitting in her own filth like that?! Who does that to an animal?! That kind of abuse would warrant an arrest for a private citizen. It was horrible trying to give her a bath afterward, since she was clearly terrified and in a lot of pain. Youd think an animal hospital like this would be better equipped to handle a difficult, terrified cat. She never recovered mentally; shes so terribly skittish and wont go near people. Who knows what else they did to my poor girl that I dont know about. I will never ever bring another animal here, and I tell people that ask for a recommendation to stay far away from this place. It seems they sure treat animals differently depending on how much their owners spend. That much is clear just from the other reviews.

Ive been to the VCA Allen Park two times and both times I had to wait hours before being seen by the staff. The first time I was with my sister, who brought in a new cat (young and healthy) to get routine blood testing and vaccines. We were the only ones in the waiting room when we arrived, had to wait 10-15 minutes to be shown into an exam room and then spent 2 hours in the exam room while the vet tech and doctor did a routine physical exam, drew blood, and administered vaccines to the cat. The second time I was with my mother, who was bringing her cat in for a spay and this time we had to wait 2 hours in the waiting room before the vet tech even took us back into the exam room to check the cat into the hospital. When we picked the cat up we waited in the lobby for 1 hour before being shown to the exam room to pick up the cat. The prices are high, half of the staff are unfriendly and disorganized, and they dont seem to know what theyre doing. They give the impression that the animals welfare is not top priority; making as much money off of the owners is their #1 concern. This is literally the worst veterinary hospital Ive ever been to.

Ive been calling them for days during their business hours to schedule appointments for my cats, who have been going here for over 2 years, and have gotten their answering machine every single time. There isnt even an option to leave them a message to let them know that Im only receiving their answering machine during their business hours, which are listed in the answering machine. This is very unprofessional and makes me feel like they dont really care (no option to leave a voice message, really?). Update - 7/24/17 Just got a call back from the VCA to follow-up on my review. They werent sure where the issue with their phones/voicemail came in because I checked that I had been calling their correct line during their listed hours, but they do have a few lines with different numbers and maybe something got crossed. The nice office manager let me know that they have online self-booking available, which I hadnt known about and would make the process of scheduling vet appointments much easier. I definitely appreciate the follow-up.

Our dog was very sick, and having sezuires ended up with pancrentitis. We didnt even make it to the front door when a vet tech grabbed the sick dog from my fiance and ran into the back with him, started on ivs right away. The receptionist were wonderful offering us coffee and anything else we needed. We were placed in a room, where the doctor came in several times giving us updates. The were very straight forward and very informative about our dogs condition. They suggested we transfer to MI Vet specialist in southfield, when they asked if I had a dog crate to transfer our sick dog, I said no...they gave me one to borrow for the weekend. My fiance & I were in such panic mode because we thought that morning we were going to loose our dog. The employees at VCA were amazing and did everything they could to help. When they couldnt any longer, they recommended transferring, which is what we did.

Absolutely TERRIBLE!!! Do NOT take your pet here! From the very beginning the staff was rude. I took in my Chihuahua because she had ate chocolate and i brought the wrapper with me. When i showed it to the vet the receptionist laughed like my pets health was a joke. it only got worse from there. The first thing the vet sad (Indian) was that he was not worried if it was milk chocolate. Then why did he go on to give me an estimate of $698!!! He kept forcing me to sign the estimate agreeing to the cost. He was a complete gold digger and took advantage of the fact that it was an emergency. When i picked up my dog she had charcoal hanging from her mouth, she was unconscious, and she smelled like feces. They dont care about your pet, they just want your money.

Very easy to get an immediate appointment. Clean. The care is just okay. Very expensive, as I assume most veterinary hospitals are. I dont like that fact that everytime that I take my dog there, she is seen by a different doctor. I would prefer for her to be seen by the same doctor who has seen her before, and knows her...sort of like a PCP, but this is not a mom and pop type of business, as they have many, many locations. I am actually thinking about looking for a new place to take my dog to, somewhere where that is not a large corporation.

I took my dog here, Dr. Fields diagnosed my dog with kennel cough. I told her I had another dog at home, not once did she mention that it was highly contagious. Sure enough my other dog got kennel cough, so of course I had to give them more money. They try to sell you on everything, and only care about money. I will NEVER take another one of my pets here... never make the mistake of going here just because its close to home and convient like I did.

In a word : dont. Garden City VCA vs Allen Park VCA = AP charged me more than double GC & thats NOT including the $500 year supply of Comboguard for my 2 pups. Dr Davis at GC was amazing with my fur babies & never tried to up-sell me (tried to save me money actually ). Also, do your homework re the ComboGuard flea - heartworm for dogs that is made especially for VCAs (700 dead dogs, per Google search -coincidence or not, Im not chancing it).
