Stay away from this vet. the prices may be cheap, but so is the care. this vet goes right to the most invasive procedure right off the bat and the animal is put through things that may not be necessary. He does this because he is so busy that he doesnt want to take the time to see if a less invasive procedure will work. He also will do surgery and not allow you to visit and does not believe in pain medicine. he say "animals tolerate pain better than humans" so what!! So I should allow my dog to be in pain. He did a surgery on my dog, that was very invasive (which by the way the same issue occurred 18 mos later and a different vet didnt even entertain the idea of surgery and with some stool softeners the issue resolved within a couple of days) and only put him on pain meds for the first day, he would not allow me to visit my dog - most likely because I would have removed him immediately when I viewed the terrible pain and conditions he was being kept in. another time he suggested I just put the pet down, I refused and insisted on giving fluids at home - kidney issues - the pet lived another 20 months of high quality of life. this guy is too quick to kill and put animals through painful and unnecessary procedures just because he doesnt want to be bothered taking the time to actually "care" for the pets. He also violated Michigan state rules regarding writing prescriptions he refuses to write prescriptions that you can purchase at Kroger etc for $4.00 per month so he can make more money state of Michigan says this: Michigan Michigan Administrative Code R 338.4923 Dispensing or prescribing a prescription product; veterinarian-client-patient relationship required. (1) If a veterinarian recommends a specific medication for a patient, the veterinarian shall honor a clients request for a prescription in lieu of dispensing a prescription product. and when brought to their attention I was told to find another vet. RUN RUN RUN FROM THIS VET. DO NOT LET THE OTHER REVIEWS FOOL YOU, THIS GUY IS JUST TOO TIRED, OLD AND BUSY TO REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR PET, NO MATTER HOW CHEAP HE IS, YOU PET WILL ENDURE MANY PAINFUL AND UNNECESSARY PROCEDURES AND THAT IS WRONG!!! He will also look you straight in the eye and lie about what is harmful to your pet or not.

Weve been coming to Dr. Havas per our neighbors recommendation for 13 yrs now, when we got our first dog. We now have 3 dogs that are seen by him. There are no bells and whistles to this clinic, and we accepted that because the price was right, especially with now with 3 dogs. But most recent visit for all three and needing a prescription for heartworm, Dr. Havas refuses to cooperate and forces the customer to buy from clinic. Now mind you, I spent $600 at this visit and still got the runaround. I spoke with him personally and he agreed to match my online price, but when I came into the office, the cashier refuses to comply with the agreement. She went back and asked the Dr. and only agreed to it as I explained that its against the law to not allow me a prescription to shop around for my choice of pet meds. And mind you, there were lots of people in the waiting room who heard me. I believe thats the only reason they cooperated. I do plan on filing a complaint with the State as well. I think this will be our last visit to this clinic. Its very dirty and staff is very rude, and quite frankly there are other vets in the area who will treat you better in a much better environment. Take the time to shop around, we did and found a Vet just a mile south of there. I walked in and personally met the Vet who took the time to talk to me and answer all my questions. They even gave me all their prices which were within a couple dollars of LLAH. Id rather pay a little more and be treated like I matter. Well be going down the street at Wattles and John R to Troy & Heights Animal Hospital with very comparable prices and a Veterinarian who will take their time with our pets and not hurd us in like cattle and make us wait for hours. Dr. Havas, Just because your prices are low, doesnt give you the right to be so rude to people. My sister was also going to him with her dog, and he pulled her into the room when she complained about the wait time, to tell her "you get what you pay for"!

I had an appointment for my two dogs for vaccines and check up. The reviews seemed good for this sort of thing and the prices were supposed to be reasonable. I thought it would be good to have my vaccination records for them so I called for a fax number to have the old vet send them to Long Lake. They asked me to hold and after 5 minutes the phone system hung up on me. Instead of calling back I went to the old vet and grabbed a hardcopy. I went to my appointment to find out that Long Lake only accepts Cash or Check. Not such a big deal. I had to leave, however, to go back home and get my check book. I was talking to my wife on the way home and she wanted to know how much the services would be before we go back in. I tried calling the vet again and they put me on hold and I hung up after 3 minutes. In fact, every call I have made to Long Lake is answered with "can you please hold?" I cannot attest to the type of service, however, we decided to go elsewhere. Service and attention to detail should be all encompassing. The lack of service may be indicative of their overall performance. Since it is our pets health that is at concern I do not want to find out. Information should be readily available. As a small business owner the lack of a website and not accepting credit cards is simply a poor business decision.

The pricing of this clinic is wonderful!! I will take my animals for any yearly shots or small colds. Though, I did take my dog there for teeth cleaning and to have her birth hernia fixed I will never have them do surgery again. Afterward I could tell she was in some pain. On my way home I called the clinic asking for some sort of pain killer along to help with inflammation. The receptionist said,"Animals usually do not need pain killers since they usually bounce back from surgery very quickly." As if they do not feel any pain? I gave her a piece of my mind explaining that my dog IS in pain and how would she like it if SHE had a hernia operation and the doctors never gave HER pain meds or antibiotics!?? she said,"Well, if you hurry before we close in 5 minutes you can pick up motrin..." I had only 5 minutes to drop my dog off at home and drive all the way back when the doctor should have automatically gave me inflammation drugs, pain killers AND antibiotics as he should for each surgery! I also wanted antibiotics to be on the safe side but it was like pulling teeth just to get the pain killers from her!!!? Thumbs down for her being so uncaring for these creatures and to the doctor whom dont offer meds for them after surgery. I hope they get the same treatment from their own doctor and hospital visits...
