I had an emergency situation on January 2nd over the New Years Holiday weekend with my 10 year old Chinese Crested (toy breed) dog - a much loved and wonderful companion. Evidently she had a couple of mast cell tumors on her stomach - a hard bump or mass, likely cancerous. I had brought the "bumps" to the attention of my regular Vet - just down the road at Maple & Livernois, SW corner. He did not tell me what they were or that they were potentially life threatening (cancer...), he just told me to "keep an eye on them". Well, one of them burst late January 1rst, during the Holiday weekend and she was bleeding all over the place. We managed to slow the bleeding, luckily, and kept her comfortable during the night. I called my regular vet first thing in the morning - he was closed... figures. I called A Care Animal Clinic, fortunately they were open and got me right in. Dr. "B" took a brief look at her and knew exactly what the problem was - one of the benfefits of experience and seeing mast cell tumors many, many times. He explained to me what they were and determined that there were actually two tumors - one much larger than the one that burst. He thought that if they were removed she would fully recover and live several more years - much to my delight! He performed surgery right away on the burst" one and after she recovered from that surgery, removed the other tumor as well. My "baby" is fully recovered now and back to her happy self. Dr. "B" even took care of her hernia "bubble" that she has had since birth - at no extra charge! The fee was much, much, less than I was expecting and would have gladly paid somewhere else! I have a couple other dogs and they will all be visting Dr. "B" from now on - Im severing ties with that other Vet. He was more concerned about selling his "wellness" plan - charging you a monthly fee for minimal "covered" services rather than providing loving care for my beloved pets. I cant thank everyone at A Care Animal Clinic enough - but I will do it at least once more. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

I just checked the reviews and its unfortunate that some have bashed the practice because they themselves seem to now like one aspect. I felt the need to write an honest review. We had a BOXER a few years back that was getting sick (we had just moved back to MI) and the vets in FL basically said there was nothing they could do. When we attempted an urgent care type vet, they suggested we try A-Care. Everyone there was awesome. Right now I believe they have two Receptionists/techs, however when we first started, there was only one. Unfortunately he did everything he could, which was more than the other vets tried to do, but we had to put her to sleep because the tumor was malignant and came back. Thats not the vets fault. Fast forward, we not have an almost two year old GSP. We took her to them for her puppy vaccines and have been taking her there ever sense. They are willing to do whatever they can for your animal and will give you any advice if you are willing to accept it. Theyve sent vaccination information to our boarding, filled prescriptions if ever needed. I couldnt be happier as their prices are pretty good also. As far as environment, its a mom-and-pop type vet. Thats obviously how they keep their prices lower as theres no need for the latest and greatest technologies in house just to jack up prices. As for the person who said these reviews are paid, well mine is not. I live in the Ferndale area and rather drive to this vet rather than the five or so that are within a mile or so away. They are good, mean well and will get the job done. If you decide to take your pet anywhere, its up to you to ask questions and make whatever demands you deem necessary, basicially the same thing you would when you take yourself or your child(ren) to the doctor. And the vet speaks and understands English very well actually.

Been going here for over 15 years. Unlike what the last women stated, this is thee BEST place to trust your pets. Just because he dont have a flashy building and fixtures, dont mean he dont do quality work. Im not paid to leave this review. Maybe if she stepped back and let him do his job with out her hovering over him like a control freak would, her story would be different. Everyone who works here is polite, respectful and responsible. I would recommend any and everyone to bring their family pets here. The places isnt about looks, its about the anaimals. I dont need chrome fixtures to make sure my pets/family is in good hands. I just need ACare. Pay attention to the other 99.9% of reviews. NOT ONE BAD REVIEW. some people just dont know how to sit and let someone do thier job. Dont mind the last review. She seems like the type to get mad if you dont give her 3 sauces for a 4piece nugget. Please bring your pets here!! Your pets will thank you.

I cant say enough positive things about this vet. Very affordable, and reasonable. Other vets will recommend very expensive and unnecessary procedures. A-Care understands how to help your pets live a happy healthy life without breaking the bank!!! Probably not the place to take your pets if you want a fancy waiting room or valet parking, but if you want good quality care by people who truly love animals, you cant go wrong. Their website even says free initial exam for your puppy or kitten, so ask about that!!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Please, for your pets sake, dont bring them to A Care. The office is unclean, the "vet" barely speaks or understands English, and the treatment is awful. Ive never experienced such awful practice. My cat was injected with a reused and filthy syringe, the "medication" came from a shared container, and the vet was violent with my kitten. I could go on but instead let me just say... for your sake, for your pets sake, please do not go to A Care. Go anywhere else. I beg you, avoid at all costs.

I began going to A Care about 20 years ago and Doc hasnt failed us yet. Very caring and very reasonable pricing. My cat ate some lily and her kidneys began to shut down, I took her to a 24 hour hospital and they wanted 3500 for 2 days of An IV flush, I chanced it with time against us and took her to A Care and he couldnt promise me she would make it, but he would try his best and kept her for 4 days and did the same IV flush for 300. Shes just fine to this day.

A co worker referred me here a few years ago and theyve been my go to vet ever since. They are so good and compassionate with the animals, and their prices are very affordable! They will suggest things but never pressure you into taking it if youre not comfortable with it. I currently have a kitten that needs to be neutered and I will be bringing him here. Without a question, hands down one of the best vets you could take your animals to!
