Not impresed at all, Im almost floored to see this Vet has a 4.5 rating. We were dealing with Gibralter for a good 8 or 9 years. Dont know why we waited to switch. If you need shots or a bandaid this is a good place to go, if you have anything more serious than that do your pet some justce and look some where else. We recently had to put our dog down and our family was extremly upset at our loss, after a couple months we decided to add two new additions to our family so we purchased two AKC Havenese puppies. We took them in and after 3 days we noticed that one was not eating very well and was lathargic while the other ran around like a little spitfire. Gibralter said she had a stool blockage they took her away and we were told she would come around. Unfortunatly her condition worstened over the weekend and we took her back in as now she was not eating at all and her blood sugar had tanked to where she was almost comatose. The Vet on staff that morning took xrays of her stomach area and I was told she had a diformity in her abdomen as he had never seen anything like this before and the breeder was probably having insutatial litters for the money as this growth was compacting her abdomen. I was sent off with a can of puppy food and told I could go to a hospital and have an ultra sound completed. I arrived at Blue Pearl in Southfield where they immediatly got her records and copies of the xrays, the supposed growth was in fact her stomach completly filed with gas and fluid. To make a longer story short I have written these guys off as I paid them almost 500 bucks for two visits with two different Vets and neither of them were even remotly close on their diagnosis. Good Luck!

I wish I could rate them negative five stars. Every year I tell myself this will be the last time we use them. Today was the last straw. We have been with them before they got the new office. Since they got the new building prices have been steadily increasing and customer service has been progressively getting worse a...nd worse. The whole staff has such a condescending attitude when they speak to you, yet smiling the entire time. Exam fees used to be around $30, they are now almost $45. One of my dogs was seen last month for his annual check. When trying to get him licensed the animal control told me his records showed he was not fixed. He has been for almost 5 years now, but the surgery was done else where because of Gibraltars high prices. They said they could not change the records because it was not done there. Every year I had payed these exam fees they never noted when he had testicles or when they where gone? In the end they charged me $45 to do exactly what they had done a month prior. Also they never changed the paper work I have to find the office who did the surgery. The only reason we have stayed this long is the boarding facility. I now work with a girl who used to work for them come to find out when you drop them off with beds and blankets they are removed from the pen as soon as you leave. So the staff doesnt have to wash them if there is a mess. I have an 11 year old great dane mix that doesnt need to be on hard concert floors all day and night. They had also tried telling me using 1800 pet meds for our heartworm was illegal, and I should use their over priced pharmacy. The building is nice and well kept, but the positive attributes end there.

Well considering I had many far warnings of close friends animals dying after surgery, or a wellness exam I was very unsure of this vet ebfore taking my dog there. My dog became extremely ill and had been throwing up for 2 weeks and no one was able to figure out anything. Considering this is the only vet that opened up early enough that he needed to go in immediantly at the time I went against told odds and saw the doctor there. Not only was price changes constantly happening. They went in for expiremental intestinal surgery and acted like it was no issur at all quick fix. Next thing you know i get a call 30 minutes later saying something went completely wrong there is now a hole in my pups intestine and there is nothing they can do and that we needed to pick him up and transfer him to bluepearl. They woke him up from sedation bsrely put him together no pain meds and we had to try to comfort and hold him as he cried the whole 45 minute drive where he had the surgery at another place that first gave him pain meds then sedated him again all within less than 4 hours. My pup did not make it. I will never be able to trust this vet again. If he had a hole before the surgery thr acidic fluids would have been released from his intestine and he would have died from spetic shock. There was no way they just magically found a hole when his levels were all normal before surgery. This place is only good for shots. Anything serious, dont step a foot in here unless youre prepared for a higher shot at losing your fur baby. This was just my story ive heard several from others that went through issues as well.

I took my cat to Gibraltar Veterinary Hospital today. I called the night before and asked for an estimate on cost (as I am a college student short on money), and was told it would be $23.10 for the one shot that he needed, plus a wellness check. My cat had just been in 3 weeks before, so I told the clerk that I would like him to receive the shot only and not the check. She confirmed that I would only be receiving the shot and it would be $23.10. I arrived in the clinic and was told the doctor "must" administer the shot. They took my cat into a different room. Then, at check-out, they told me my total would be $89 for a wellness check and two shots. When I tried to argue that I had only asked for 1 shot and no wellness check, they told me "well he needed it" and "we cant take it back now, he already did it." I will not return to a place that does not listen to the requests of customers. This establishment is practicing unethically and illegally in misleading their customers and performing unwarranted procedures.

Agreed with the individual above ! I have seen these workers outside of the business area and they are disrespectful and hate to say it ... trashy. I cannot believe the way they are, it makes me question their ability to care for my adored pets. I agree that this does affect the way your business is viewed, these workers need to realize that even though it may not seem like it their actions out of the hospital completely mirror your business. I didnt want to be the first one to post a bad review because Im not one to judge, but the person above opened that can of worms for me, and this needs to be looked at more carefully because seeing these workers out of work behaving the way they do is without a doubt a reflection of your hospital. . . it makes the customers wonder what type of people are REALLY handling and caring for our animals. Im glad this was said because I have been waiting to say it as well.
