My dog has heart problems and I had to take her to the animal ER Thursday night. I called Sunday because she was coughing badly again and the ER vet said to follow up with their normal vets as soon as we could, but if she starts coughing try to get in asap. I called Sunday morning explaining the urgency of the situation and asked if she could be seen that day. They told me no and to call around anywhere else, but they arent going to see her. I then called the Rochester Banfield. I said I needed to put her back on a wellness plan to cover the visit etc. On the phone they apologized for Troy and said to bring her in at 10AM (the time the vet comes in). When I got there they took me immediately, took good care of my dog, listened to my concerns, and didnt charge me! They were more concerned with my dogs health over money and said when she is feeling better bring her in and they can put her on a plan. But in the meantime all of us focus on getting her better. She said if my dog keeps coughing to call and they will up the dose without having to bring her back in. The Rochester Banfield truly cares about their patients/pets, but I cant say the same about Troy.

Dr Lerner was once probably a decent vet - now seems to be slipping . Yes , he misdiagnosed a painful skin condition of my pets , and then said after a few tries ,that my pet would just have to live with it . When a layman correctly called out the right diagnosis and Lerner then treated it correctly and it disappeared , I was a bit shocked at how unapologetic he was . The staff surrounding him is becoming a big problem . The staff at Troy Banfield USED to be good . So much turnover , and the "A" techs are gone , with a few "tough cookie" techs of "C" grade and lower left protecting their jobs . I have seen this before in other types of companies . They quickly get worse and worse .

I paid (in full) for Banfields "wellness plan" for my 13 year old cat. After 10 +/- years of great service, I had nothing but problems with Banfield Pet Hospital, in Troy, trying to up charge me each time I brought my cat in for a particular problem. I was refused a prescription for my cat (a priscription I had been given many times in the past), because I wouldnt fill the prescription at the Banfield store. An earlier Vet (at Troy, Banfield) wrote me the same prescription and I had it filled at Walmart for $4.00 vs. Banfields $30.00 rate. Huge rip off! I will not ever return to Banfield Pet Hospital!

Ive been going to Banfield for almost 4 years. Over the past year our experiences have turned worse and worse. The staff dont seem as knowledgable and theres almost no availability less than 2 weeks out to have your pet. I plan to take my business elsewhere after my year contract is up. You really do get what you pay for, and Im not willing to skimp on my dogs welfare just to save a couple bucks. I would not recommend using Banfield unless you have a healthy dog who only needs to be seen once a year for a general check-up and shots.

Fantastic experience! Was worried that a big corporate vet wouldnt be the optimal experience, however I found quite the opposite. Ive now moved both my dogs over and the quality of care has been unrivaled. The staff is fantastic and always friendly, and Dr Lerner is the most knowledgeable and friendly vet Ive met. Its good to finally find a veteran that treats my dogs with as much love as I do.

Dr. Lerner has been an awesome vet! He never does unnecessary testing and has saved me money over the years. His care and compassion for animals is over the top as well as his heart for his clients. I would follow that man to a cave if that was where he worked. The staff has never been rude to me, always polite and always followed up the next day to see how my pets are doing.

The staff is friendly, the hours are good, and the price is right... The downside is there are long waits for non-emergency issues. Which is annoying since there isnt a good waiting area... typically you end up standing around trying to keep your pet calm and inline... not ideal.
