I took my 3 month bunny in for care of a cuterebra / botfly last week. When I called about this the visit it was gonna be $90.00 and after the doctor sees my bunny she would assess any other cost. I was then given an estimate of $374.00, WOW. What do I do? My bunny could live or die, gotta save him. He is my first pet I ever had. I explained to the doc that I believed there is 3 cuterebra in him, they found 2 and removed them. The end of visit they demanded full payment of the bill, I paid them everything I had except $139.00. They called me a few days after the procedure, I would have thought they were gonna ask about the bunnys recovery, they didnt ask at all. All they called about was the payment of $139.00. Now im having complications with my bunny and I was told that there may be another one left inside my bunny that they couldnt see as the burrow in their skin. Wow I cant afford to do this again. Well its gonna cost the prior balance plus $90.00 for office visit plus the procedure cost again.( Mind you the 3rd one is in the exact spot the other 2 came out of) or I can take him to another vet that is much cheaper and affordable. From the reviews Ive read here tonight, I hope she doesnt play the same game as others on here, (Im sorry but you must have been seen by another vetinary hospital, because we have no record of you. ) people need to take your animals to a place where greed doesnt exist. I understand everybody needs to get paid, but dont do a half ass job on my bunny and then say oh there may be another one, that we couldnt see and charge me excessively to clean the entire hole out completely and charge me then there shouldnt be another one inside of him. I have proof and the telephone recording that I would LOVE to post here. I wish I would have read reviews before taking my bunny to this place. From my experience, I would have gone elsewhere. IF YOU TRULY LOVE YOUR ANIMAL AND WANT A COMPETENT DOCTOR SO YOUR PET CAN RECOVER WITHOUT COMPLICATIONS,......GO SOMEWHERE ELSE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE....my expierence is that they are overpriced hospital only looking to make money more than the concern of the health of your animal. Did I mention that when I called them originally was around 8pm, come to find out they have a vet place that is much cheaper and affordable and closer to my residence and open till 10pm. But that night I called thos place I was not informed of that then.Even when I told her that I only had $200.00 on me at the time. She said that they would take a personal check or cash only. I told her I didnt have a personal checking only a business checking. She proceeded to give me there address.THEY DONT ACCEPT BUSINESS CHECKS DUE TO THEY HAVE NO WAY TO PROCESS THEM.They wanted that top dollar, late hour fee. There concern is merely the pocket book, not the health and care of your animal.

My experience with Animal Emergency Center, Rochester, MI, was phenomenal! I have an 8 mo. old bunny, Snowflake, that attacked my cat, which in turn received a bite to his ear. There was no blood, so I thought he was fine, but his behavior was not the same. He was not eating or playing, so I took him to my regular vet. They examined him, said he had a bruise, and sent him home with some pain meds. Two days later, the area looked infected, and my bunny was not breathing normal. My vet referred me to AEC Rochester. Dr. Heather Robertson was the first doctor that Snowflake and I saw immediately. He was given the best care, medicines and treatments, to first help his g.i. tract, because he wasnt eating. I was so worried and afraid for the worst, but she assured me, "mom", that death wasnt in her vocabulary. Over the course of 3 full days, Snowflake saw several doctors, whom all kept calling me, in the morning, afternoon, and evening, to update me on his progress. Not only did they have to get his vitals to the right level, but they had to surgically remove some dead skin that had developed on his ear due to the bite wound. On the third day, I was able to bring Snowflake home, but needed lots of at home bandage changes, in order to help with costs of frequent follow up visits. Dr. Robertson was encouraging and supportive, every step of the way, even at times when I thought it was too much, physically and emotionally, for me to handle, as at one point, an infection did develop, and extra materials and steps in the bandage changing process was necessary. Dr. Robertson was more than accomodating with her schedule and services to see Snowflake for periodic follow up visits to ensure proper healing of the wound and infection. It has been a little over 3 weeks now, and in a few days, Snowflake will have his stitches removed. He has been eating and playing, and acting his usual bunny self. He is alive and well, thanks to all of the wonderful doctors and staff! I would definetely recommend AEC Rochester, and would definetely bring my other pets there.

I brought my cat, Tigger, into this place with what looked like a urinary blockage. After reading some of the reviews I was apprehensive about the price, but I took a chance anyway. Im glad I did. Turns out Tigger DID have a urinary blockage, and a bad one....but as someone whose finances were tight I wasnt sure what kind of treatment I would be able to afford. The vet and techs on duty were incredibly gentle with Tigger and very open with us about the pricing of the procedures for the catheter, the labs and diagnosis, and the treatment options depending on whether he had a few crystals or actual stones in his kidneys. They gave him some medicine to help with his pain and relax him, which was awesome since he was already so scared. They gave us a breakdown of everything they would be doing and all the financial costs. In the end, though, even the most basic treatment was too expensive for us. What they did next was wonderful. Truly and absolutely wonderful. They told us of another hospital that was known to be cheaper, faxed them Tiggers papers in advance, and recommended we take Tigger there for treatment. We then paid the office fee of $90 dollars and the added fee for the medicine they gave him for his pain, and went on our way to that other hospital. To those people who claim this hospital is all about money, I say you couldnt be more wrong. When push came to shove, they cared more about my cat being healed, to the point where they recommended a cheaper place (and likely a competitor) instead. They put Tiggers welfare before possible profit. THAT is a hospital that cares. And its that type of honest business practice that has now earned them a customer for future pet needs. Thanks again, guys. I was able to get Tigger the care he needs because of your guidance. And Im happy to report hes doing well and should be coming home soon.

Were not sure if its an exception but we received poor service at the Rochester MI AEC last night. Two of our familys little dogs got into some very old rodent poison in a family members basement that was forgotten about. Thankfully they are supervised and were caught in the act of ingesting it. Our vet had us immediately administer hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting which worked. They then had us take them to this AEC location as it was the closest emergency clinic to us. Needless to say, our two small dogs were already very upset when we arrived after being forced to vomit their stomach contents and having their teeth scraped (there was poison stuck in their teeth and gums). When we arrived, we were told to fill out papers and left in the lobby for over 20 minutes even though our dogs still had poison remnants in their stomachs and teeth. We were finally brought into a room and made to wait over twenty more minutes to see a technician! Then they said they needed to take our dogs in the back to take vitals even though they usually do it in the exam room. They proceeded to keep our dogs in the back for over 40 minutes! We could here them crying and barking and people yelling "hey" and "shsh" at them. We finally asked what they were doing and were told that they had a cat emergency so our dogs were not priority. We asked them to bring our dogs back to wait with us and then sat for another 30 minutes before seeing the vet. All in all, we would never return here unless we had no choice. They did not show a level of care we are used to receiving from our regular vets. Plus, keeping our extremely upset dogs locked up in the back for over 40 minutes waiting to get vitals is uncalled for. We spent about 2 1/2 hours just to have vitals taken and be given a script to counter the poison.
