Ive been going to Levy Dental for around a dozen years (so Im now on my 3rd dentist there) and think that the place is unrecognizable from some of the reviews posted here. Granted, the people who tend to post reviews are either the wildly enthusiastic or the venomous, which makes it difficult to figure out what the typical experience is from any review site. The equipment and methods are completely up-to-date (indeed, before going here, I had no idea how out-of-date my last two dentists were), and the professionalism of the service is exemplary. Whenever anyone new to New Haven asks me about a dentist, I have no hesitation in recommending Levy Dental. Sure, my 2nd dentist at the practice could have been warmer and friendlier, but I had complete confidence in his abilities--which is, after all, what Im there for. A quick glance at the backgrounds of some of the dentists on their website indicates that many of the dentists are involved in research as well as clinical care, which is yet a further indication that everything is as up-to-date as can possibly be. In addition to the quality of care being first rate, I think (contrary to some of the posters here) that the quality of service is, too. Ive never been kept in the waiting room longer than 10 minutes before being called in; when directed to another department (for instance, to billing or to the receptionist to make the next appointment), Im generally accompanied to help explain to the person what needs to be done; I was even able to get an urgent appointment on Christmas Eve when I needed it. I suppose I should add something clearly negative so it doesnt sound like Im gushing, so Ill add that every time I go there, Im shocked that they have a pile of cookies out for anyone to take by the receptionist--cookies at a dentists? For shame! Other than that, though, I think theyre great and expect to continue going to Levy Dental for as long as I live in New Haven.

When you are looking for the ultimate in dental care and cosmetic dentistry, there is one of the most professional and cutting edge dental care offices in Connecticut, on State Street, in New Haven. This Group is lead by Dr. Levy a genius in what he does and an inspiration to his team of Doctors and staff. His personal bed side manner is warm, compassionate, and understanding. He listens to you and addresses your concerns. It is an incredible Dental Group. This practice takes one to the state of the art in dentistry sparing no effort or resources to provide the best care available. Furthermore the Group has a staff that has been with Dr. Levy for over 15 and 20 years providing experience and proficiency that is difficult to find anywhere. But the most important aspect of the practice for me has been their ability to combine appointments so that you can get your issue resolved as fast as possible and not drag out the care forever. As far as cost is concerned they accept my dental insurance and what is not covered they provide payment plans so one does not have to wait until they can save the money to afford the care but are helped financially to speed things up. One special thing that Dr. Levy does that I personally appreciate is that he provides more than adequate information, X-rays, and charts to show you the various care options and what you do not have to do for functionality sake to save expenses. When it comes to the cosmetic care obviously they can do whatever one wants to do (like celebraties might want) at competitive prices. Dr. Levy outside of being an outstanding Doctor is also a philanthropist contributing to many worthy causes in Greater New Haven. He is not only the ultimate doctor but a wonderful human being and outstanding citizen. I would refer Dr. Levy and his Group to anyone seeking the best care. Respectfully, David P Gershoni

Due to excellent reviews on Yelp, I switched from my old dentist to Levy group two years ago. Here is my personal experience. I have to say they are doing good in term of dental cleaning. However, they are probably your worst choice if you have periodontal disease and need to do some surgeries. I had severe bone loss at some area and saw Dr. You. she suggested me to see Dr. Weiner. When I saw Dr. Weiner, he made a quick exam and further a decision within a very short time. He wants me to do a gum surgery to recover bones in the place where I lose them. I thought I am close to fourty and it should be impossible to re-grow bones. But I guess I am not a dental expert, and maybe I should follow his suggestion. Then, I did it with nearly $2,500. After that, my nightmare came. Two days after surgery, my teeth got infected and I cant see Dr. Weiner in the next few days because he only works one day per week in this clinic. I took some antibiotics and pain pills and felt better. One week after, I saw Dr. Weiner, and he told me that this is normal and I will benefit from this surgery very soon. Unfortunately, this is not the case for my teeth most of time. I always bleed and feel pain although I may be able to tolerate it. Until recently, they said to me that no doctor can guarantee the success of a surgery and YOU SHOULD REMOVE YOUR TEETH. Moreover, I will be refund $0. I actually understand the nature of a surgery, but patients are not lab animals for testing and not only used for earning money. If a doctor can pay more attention or consider more consequence of a surgery, every patient will appreciate it. Now I decided not to play any games with them and look for a better dentist. Hope this helps for you if you have a similar situation.

The staff is quite rude if they dont realize you are customer! It is kind of shocking. Then once they realize you are they try to pretend they are friendly and helpful. I had VERY basic stuff done. They filled a "cavity" (at a cost well above what comparable dental services charge) which turned out not even to be a cavity but a "potential" cavity. They also insisted on using some high powered sanding like tool to clean one of my teeth... and then proceeded to chip it. So now instead of a "dirty" tooth I am missing part of my tooth. They also charged a lot for that 10 second procedure. Because its a cosmetic dental service, they want to make you feel like your teeth are ugly. They do that thing where they are like "You have probably noticed that (fill in something that is only noticeable to you) is wrong with your teeth. We can fix for (fill in an exorbitant price here)." All in all, there are lots of dental services available in New Haven. Dont go here. They are snobby, over priced and not worth it.

I had a great experience with Dr. Amy Lomartire and the staff at Levy Dental Group. I had broken a crown done by my regular dentist, and I was referred to Dr. Lomartire by several family members who all raved about her work. I never thought I would feel so comfortable in a dentist’s chair! Everything she did – from using the most up-to-date digital mapping technology to create a molar that fit my bite perfectly, to making it on the premises, to the patient care—was done with precision and real artistry. Dr. Lomartire and the staff put me at my ease throughout my visit. That afternoon, I could tell the difference pretty much immediately—there was none of the strangeness of “getting used to it” that I’d had with the first crown. I never thought I’d say this about dental work, but it really is beautiful. Dr. Lomartire and the Levy Dental Group deliver the highest standard of care, and they make you feel like you deserve it. I’ll definitely be back.
