Set up appointment with Aspen because theyre covered under my works insurance. Thought I was going to go in and get the standard cleaning done, nothing special, my teeth are fine. Instead, they take X-Rays and examine my teeth with this lady calling out random numbers, and then advise me that I need to get my upper wisdom teeth removed (I had my lower wisdom teeth removed years ago) and come in multiple times every three months for deep-scale cleaning, which together would cost me over $2,000 out-of-pocket. I called the office back after I got home and said that I wasnt interested in either of those procedures, that I just want the standard cleaning that I went in there for, and amazingly the receptionist refused to set up an appointment for this on the grounds that Aspen would supposedly be liable for having only done the cleaning that my insurance covers? I have serious doubts about the legality of this practice. My gut feeling is that there is definitely some shady business going on here. Going to Aspen was ultimately a total waste of my time because Ive now had to schedule an appointment with another dentist just to get the regular cleaning I went into Aspen for in the first place. If I encounter any difficulty getting Aspen to fax my X-rays over to this other dentist I am going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Im twenty-six years old. This is the first internet review Ive ever posted of any business. Follow-up: Aspen would not fax or email my X-rays over to the next dentist I went to see in one town over, so instead I had to go into Aspen to get a printed copy of my X-rays and then drop them off back at my new dentist after getting my cleaning done there. All the new dentist did is perform the regular checkup and cleaning that my insurance covers. Both the new dentist and his hygienist were positive that I did not need any additional procedures. Bottom line: Im convinced Aspen is a criminal racket that tries to railroad people into getting expensive and unnecessary work done that can actually put their health at risk. I would strongly, strongly advise staying away. I was motivated to write this followup after seeing that Aspen still somehow has 3.6 stars out of 37 reviews. Take my advice and do not let that mislead you.

Absolutely the most apathetic poorly run medical establishment I have ever had the misfortune to do business with- if you care, even minimally, about having a provider who cares about you, look elsewhere. Though my first appointment went off nearly without a hitch, despite a crew clearly unhappy to be at work, everything has gone steeply down hill since. For my second appointment I arrived 15 minutes early, as I try to make habit of with all of my providers, only to not be seen for 45 minutes AFTER my schedules appointment time, without even a hint of an apology. I should have learned then, but I scheduled a follow-up assuming no reputable organization could be routinely that horrible to its customers and remain in business... my mistake! In work in the mental health field and spent the last half hour frantically trying to get one of my clients into a detox bed. As such, I ended up leaving work a few (read: 5 or so) minutes late. After hitting a bit of traffic and needing to take an extensive detour, I arrived for my 5:30 appointment at 5:41 on the nose. After checking in and hanging up my coat, I was informed I could not be seen because I was "15 minutes late" (despite only being approximately 10 minutes late). In a moment where I must have been lost in a daze of "they were 45 minutes late for me but I cannot be 10 minutes late fot them", I requested a rescheduled appointment. Upon realizing the horrible mistake I was about to make, I informed the receptionist to not worry about it... I would find another provider. If you are reading this review as a reference point as to whether you wish to receive medical services from a horribly unreliable, hypocritically managed, painfully apathetic provider... do yourself a favor and call your insurance to locate ANY other dentist- they could not possibly be this bad.

Everyone was very professional and knowledgeable! Nice and gentle as well. I went for a pre-exam for a cleaning as a new patient, only because I want to find a dentist to go to in town. I had full x-rays done, they did a great job with that also. They noticed my front teeth had short roots, which I already knew (due to braces as a teen, most likely) I was also told I had a cavity starting, and that I had deep pockets around my teeth, I also had gingivitis... Here is my issue, I have never gone more that about 8 months with out a cleaning, I floss as needed, when I have food stick or can see the plague...I have had cavities in the past, and I have a crown on a very back bottom tooth which means I am familiar with what a cavity, even one starting would look like. I was open to what they told me until it was time to get the grand total, which would be due on my next visit when my teeth would be cleaned... I apparently needed a prescription rinse, an electric toothbrush and a deep cleaning, totaling out of pocket over $300 after my good dental insurance through work. I didnt have to buy the tooth brush but I was going to have to get the rinse and deep cleaning. All this because the condition of my teeth for being overdue by 2 months for my second cleaning in the past year....Really? You get what Im saying, I was hustled!!! like I had horrible issues and had neglected them. I was able to go to my dentist out of town and he and his staff were showing me proof of the none existent deep pockets and cavities, no gingivitis, just a bit of plaque build up in the front bottom teeth as to be expected. You know your teeth, you know what issues you have especially if you have gone at least once a year since you were a kid, am I right! so get a second opinion if it just doesnt sound right!

The Hygienist insisted I needed scaling as my gums were very inflamed. I am the type of person what gets their teeth cleaned 4 times a year and brushes and flosses constantly. I knew she was just trying to bilk more money out of me. Ive never had over a 2+ before or after that visit. The hygienists in these type dental chains are typically told to over exaggerate and fabricate so they can bill out for more services. Aspen definitely falls into this category. I went for my usual cleaning two months later to my new dentist and of course I was told I have very healthy gums. That was two years ago. Its funny how I never needed had this supposed issue before or after this Aspen visit. My advise is to steer clear of this practice. In addition, I received a call from a collection agency out of the blue regarding some kind of past balance from guess who ... Aspen Dental. So basically they never sent any type of paper bill or phone follow regarding a billing matter and then just sent it to a collection agency. I discovered there was a problem with insurance billing. Anyway, Stay clear of Aspen. They are the McDonalds of Dental care and the employees are the Ronald Clowns ........
