20130708, Monday - I called the Birthing Center to ask them about tours and they never picked up the phone I called twice during regular business hours (it was around 3p.m.) I finally just decided I would just stop by this hospital because I wanted to take a tour before I decided on a hospital to give Birth in. Im on week 28th of Pregnancy and needed to decide on a Hospital ASAP and register. When I stopped by I asked the front desk where their Birthing center was located because I wanted to take a tour she directed me to the floor but then told me she wasnt sure I could get a tour then decided she would ask before she gave me wrong info. I was baffled as this was not the first hospital tour I had been on (I had already been on two other previous tours at other hospitals, all I had to do was arrive and tell them I was there for a tour and a minute later I was given a tour along with information and I was on my way). This concerned me as this had already started off on the wrong foot with the phone not being answered, then their lack of knowledge. I should also mention that I tried looking this information on their website which they do not have available on their website. Anyhow 10 minutes later the lady comes back and tells me they only give tours on Sat. and Sun. and that its only by appointment and that I would have to call the birthing center (which doesnt answer) to schedule a time to tour. Despite their lack of customer service and knowledge I will wait and see if they return my call or I will attempt to schedule an appointment to tour the birthing center, but Im not too confident that this will be my choice Hospital, but well see how it goes, being pregnant has made me a bit more tolerable of this sort of service Im a lot more patient, good thing for them!

My wife and I decided on Memorial Hermann Sugar Land to deliver our baby. Bad choice. My wifes water popped around 3:15 so I took her to the hospital. They got her into an examining room and left us there. She started getting contractions really bad so I asked for medicine. They said they couldnt do anything till she was in the system....we filled out the paperwork about a month in advance. After about 30 min, they came to do the test to see if her water broke. We waited about another 30 min to get the results while her contractions were getting worse. They confirmed it broke and took her to the delivery room and left us again. By this time her contractions were pushing around the 6.0-6.5 mark (way above time for epidural). They then had her sign stuff during contractions so she could get meds. We were at the hospital for 2 hours before she got her IV and first pain med. The labor was only 4 hours total and she got her epidural about 30 min before the baby came, so it didnt work at all. The nurses didnt even call our doctor until she was at a 10 even though she was advancing really fast and could tell it wouldnt be long before our baby came. Take in to consideration it was Friday of Labor Day weekend so traffic was almost dead stop. The doctor barely got ready in time to deliver because they waited so long and told her to stop pushing during her contractions (like she can control that). This was just aweful. I would have given them 1 star but there were a few nurses and nursery nurses who were just awesome, so I cant go 1 star just for their sake.

My husband was in a bicycle crash and came to Memorial Hermann for ER services. They teased him about "falling off his bike" and misdiagnosed him with a boo boo when he had a broken pelvis. He was sent home without a wheel chair even though he could not put any weight on his legs and was in extremem pain. It took us 30 minutes to drag him in the house from the car with a wheeled office chair. The doctor prescribed a pain med that he was allergic to even though he had a wrist band, tag on his chart and door cautioning the physican about the allergy. Fortunately my husband caught that before filling the prescription. When I complained to the hospital administration about that mistake, the hospital reviewed the chart and caled us back about the broken pelvis a day later. He should have been on anticoagulants right away and now was at a very high risk of a blood clot. Later he was asked to return for a bon scan and was mistakenly required to drink 3 nasty bottles of barium and had a liver test. This was a bone scan not an internal organ scan. The technician was disgusted that they required him to drink the stuff, Neither the liver test or the barium should have been administered. However, we WERE charged for both. The new orthopedist (non-hospital physician) showed my husband the original x-ray and said the 2 pelvic fractures were very clear on the x-ray. (This happened just over a year ago.)

Well to begin with I had originally had my first time gynecologist appointment on the 4th floor of the medical plaza which was a great experience, the women were all very nice. However,my gynecologist informed me that she felt multiple lumps on each breast, take note I am only 20 years old so I was in shock! She referred me to the downstairs imaging department in which I would take a breast ultrasound, so i did of course very nervous. When I arrived I had changed into my gown and entered the room, the woman who did my ultrasound was very cold and not personable whatsoever. When she was finished she called in the doctor to do another once over on my ultrasound, when she did so she informed me that I indeed did have a Fibroadenoma tumor, I was beyond scared at this point. Trying to understand what the meaning of this diagnosis was I had questions, one of them being and I quote "Is there any information you can give me on this"? Her response was "I can write down the name of this for you so that you can do research on the internet, google". Next she said she would like me to return every 6 months for the next 2 years, and thats it. No further information, no comfort, no reassurance, NOTHING! I will not be going back to this establishment, disappointed would be an understatement.

From beginning to end, the staff at MHH sugarland took the most amazing care of me and my little family. Check in at the maternity wing brought 2 great nurses and then the evening brought us Patti. Patti went above and beyond to ensure the labor process was smooth and gave me so much knowledge each step of the way. She stayed after her shift to watch our beautiful baby girl be born. After care was amazing as we transitioned onto the recovery ward. The nurses here took amazing care of myself and my sweet girl. When blood sugar levels were an issue, it was immediately handled with a team of nurses and an ultimate decision to send our baby to the nicu. She has been loved on and again we have been given the most amazing knowledge. Patti, our labor nurse, even came to see us in the nicu. Adilynn was even given a birthday cake to celebrate her arrival. During recovery, the nurses did everything to make me comfortable, aware, and well taken care of. Food delivered to the room was not only delicious but delivered with speed and friendly faces. Each person who came into our room was respectful, helpful, and always looking out for our best interest. Thank you Memorial Hermann Sugarland for the amazing experience and helping us welcome our baby girl.
