Im rating this as what it is - a HOSPITAL - not a dang restaurant, spa, cafe or whatever the heck else these reviewers are talking about! Did you go there for brunch or to have a medical issue resolved? Really? This hospital (and its surrounding Doctors offices/services) is one of the most advanced, technically competent and humane/caring Ive been in throughout my life. If this was a movie review it would be TWO THUMBS UP! If it were a hotel review it would be FIVE STARS!! So * * * * * (5) stars for the professional, advanced, caring, skilled services which is after all is said and done, why you go to a hospital. To have competent Doctors patch you up in advanced, clean operating rooms; right? BUT I cant stop there. What about the other reality of our healthcare system? What about: is any of this good? great? useful? if you cannot afford it? Mmmmm! I LOVE that new Cadillac! Too bad I drive a 3-cylinder POS made in China because thats what I can AFFORD! So, * (1) star for the PROHIBITIVELY, massive cost factor! I have been sent here twice over the past six months for completely different procedures, Rxd by two different Drs. The first procedure had an out of pocket (I hadda pay) cost of over $20,000. TWENTY GRANDE was "my portion" of the bill. The second procedure had an out of pocket cost over $8,200. Some may argue this is a failure of my BS insurance which ironically, I paid for because its "Scott & White Health Insurance" - dumb me for thinking the ins.co and the facility were somehow related and therefore a good combination to have. Whatever.. More healthcare BS and red tape to deal with cause you aint never gunna figure it out. Not even they themselves can figure out when a computer glitch happens in their own billing systems. The dilemma is the hospitals planning, not their skilled/follow-thru. They MUST know the cost of these procedures are massive (remember those amounts were "my portion" is 20% of the bill, so the total cost of them was double, triple or more) and while they were awesome at "pre registering" me over the phone and being super at making sure I was aware of the dates, times, Doctors, et cetera involved; not one person ever bothered to mention "oh yeah, and .. um... you got an extra twenty grande laying around for when you come in; cuz, we aint lifting a pinky until you pay "YOUR PORTION". No. Instead it goes like this: Dripping with honey, wall-to-wall-caring-professionals get you signed up for a massive medical bill. Smiling and holding your hand the whole way until you are sat in the "registration room" with a healthcare-closer-car-sales woman who pulls out the big gun and points it at your head and says "how you gunna pay for this sucka?" Should be called "Oh BLAM-OH care" because I felt like such a sucker for having believed all their caring, loving, smiles were sincerely aimed at solving some medical condition. Whats the net-result? I freakin stormed out of that hospital TWICE in the past six months, furious, blood-pressure through the roof and embarrassed (whats that saying again? fool me once, fool me twice...). You look mahvelous darlink! Whats that smokin atomic hole in your wallet from? Did you sell your house, mortgage your kids? Nice....

I went to the ER this past Tuesday , got there about 7:45 pm and got out about 1:15 am Feb 3. I had an x-ray on my left arm, blood tests, ultrasound and EKG. Finally the doctor came in around 12:30 to 12:45 and told me I had Cervical Radiculopathy, and Thrombophlebitis arm. Which means that I have bloods clots just under the skin in my left arm, and pain coming from my neck going down my left arm. They did more than I thought they would do, but when the doctor release me to come home, The nurse took the IV out and she bandaged it with a cotton ball and a piece if tape. Well, I had started to put my jacket on and she had left the room, well, I felt something wet on my shirt so when I looked down their was blood all over my shirt. I did get dizzy which the nurse downplayed, and then she asked if I wanted a wheelchair, but I didnt think that she should have asked, She should have insisted that I be taken out in a wheelchair. I was so tired that I just said no and I will use my walker. But she did insist that I sit in the waiting room until I felt like going to my car. Since when does the patient lets them know how they want to get to their car? I thought that it is standard procedure to have someone take you or help you out to your car. I am 62 and I have to use the walker to get around, and those nurses are just so busy at night that they cant take anyone to their car. But the doctor was nice, but since I have been there several times, they know I have many, many issues. And anything can happen. I only go when I feel it is necessary and I am sure that they dont like me coming in, but I dont really care. Hillcrest tries to improve on their service. And sometimes you think that they have done a really good job. But I want more that just the check-out paper that they give you. I want the copy of the doctors notes that goes to my doctor. There is nothing on the check-out paper that they dont go over with you when you are there, but they give you the diagnosis but then what else does he say behind my back? Any takers? I try to be on my best behavior, but I am wondering what the nurse say when ever the patient is gone? She clearly did not bandaged up my arm properly. And she has access to my medicine list but does she know how to read it, or maybe she dont know all of the medications so it should be up to the doctor or nurse in charge to make sure she understands what medicines she needs to be aware of. But I am just stating that the nurses I know are good in their field, but if they dont know a medicine then they should find out. I just hope that when I have to go again sometime down the road I hope, that she listens to the patient also, cause I know more about me than she does. I just dont want to cause any harm to come to me, because she did not think she had to listen to the patient. But I am sure that they do try and that I have faith in those that are always learning.

Took my friend to the er as she was having complications after a major surgery she had just a few days before as she was instructed by her doctor who is employed by your company. She was taken back to a room but after a long wait a nurse finally came to insert an Ive without even telling her name then left. After at least an hour people came to give x-rays then after around an hour further doctor came in who was very nice he stated a nurse would be right in to finish up after around an 45 min wait I went to the nurse station filled with around 6 nurses to see what was going on. I was informed by a nurse named Leslie female with blonde hair that their were several other people being seen and Id have to wait I reiterated to her that our doc said a nurse would be right in. She proceeded to kick her feet up with an attitude. She asked me who was the nurse I did not know as know nurse even introduced themselves when coming in the room. She asked who the doctor was... I did not know I said she could look at the screen she was looking at to see then I asked to speak to a Manger. She paged her Manger and in front of me said " i have a disgruntled family member her that wants to talk to you, take your time" what made me really upset about this was not that the nurse wanted to play games with me, but that she was ok with extending our visit while my friend sat in the room in pain still recovering from her surgery. Even after this interaction I waited I the room maybe 10 fifteen minutes. My friend decided she had enough and was ready to go. She pulled her owe Ive out and we left. When asking to be let out of the error area then we were approached by hed nurse seeing what was going on. The rude nurse Leslie continued in the background as we told the charge nurse our issues calling us liars and other things having never interacted with my friend who was being seen. I was disturbed by this because not only was my friend being charged over 800 for this visit we left feeling like we wasted our time.
