My son was there for a hip fracture. The surgeon was great. The team the got him ready for surgery was also very good. It was the recovery, where everything went bad. It was obvious from the beginning that my son was a "light weight" and could not handle strong pain meds. The first nurse we had, caught on to this and gave him only 1 pain pill. Unfortunately for us, her shift ended. CNAs would do vitals, each time his oxygen level would be lower than the last- they would just say "Make sure you do your breathing exercises.". They were saying this to a kid that was totally incoherent. He was in a total fog, hallucinating, jibberish talking. The next day the nurse gives him TWO pain pills, well as you can guess his oxygen level became dangerously low so they reversed all the narcotics in his system causing extreme pain. They were able to stabilize him and he was doing just fine when we left to go sleep at the hotel. When we arrived the next morning, our son was writhing in pain. He said he requested a pain pill at 3 a.m. and was not given one until 7:30 a.m.....I was informed by the nurse that day the the night shift generally does not wake patients to give them pain meds, when we were told all along that he must "stay ahead of the pain". How is NOT GIVING HIM pain medication good pain management??????? So we ended up staying yet ANOTHER day while the facility padded their pockets. The only one that got him up to walk was the PT nurse. (she was absolutely awesome by the way). I was always told that patients need to walk to make sure no blood clots appeared. I spent the last night with him as I did not trust the nurses to administer his pain meds regularly. Not a good feeling when you cant trust and entire building full of educated health care professionals. I sincerely hope most people can say that they did not have a bad experience at this hospital, but we did hear some very disturbing comments made about Via Christi while we were there.

My 74 father was just admired 6.10.17 for acute lung failure. During the ER to the ICU was the worst experience my family has ever experienced. They failed to accommodate the patient and his needs. Failure to explain reason of medications they were issusing. Rude inappropriate comments. I am disgusted! Cheryl on the 4th floor should be ashamed of herself! She made a fool of herself. She was more worries about my 3 year old being "inappropriate" for the ICU. THEN GETTING MY FATHER A CUP OF WATER. She issued my family a green piece of paper that we could call since we werent allowed to stay. I called to ask about him and if he ate and she made me feel as if I was uneducated and incapable of understanding her, like I was the inconvenience. She couldnt be direct . I have made notes with time and date of the poor experience from comments to actions. If any thing was inappropriate was the poor service from a health care provider that we relied on to help my ill father. I want answers why this happened ? Why is this behavior accepted? Does this happen often? How many others have been victims of this behavior? I really hope Cheryl understand that I wont stop till I get answers why her behavior and attitude was so disrespectful . I sure have she wasnt being prejudice in any way shape or form. I truely hope she didnt assume that we wouldnt have something to say about her negligence. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. my family is traumatized by this experience. My father is my world and i would appreciate having someone contact me or give me the correct contact to speak to someone in detail about this. Future patients Know your rights! You are a human ! Do not accept anything less than respect and decentcy! Not every one is a crappy person but the wrong one can ruin everything. I dont know what would have happened if anything else would have happened to my dad. Sincerely. A traumatised patients family.

06-28-2017 17:00 left Via Christi Hospital. My son was in an accident and had a few orthopedic surgeries to put him back together. He arrived by life watch and the trauma team stabilized him and arranged for the surgeries the next couple of days. The surgeons were great Dr. Chad Corrigan was awesome and completely filled us in on what was done and how the surgery went. The entire medical staff was good where it seemed to break down was in the administration dept and the insurance and post care. My son was supposed to go to in patient physical therapy which the medical staff prescribed and strongly urged him to follow. The administration staff had incorrectly filed with My Insurance company instead of his insurance company. I got an email notice of the request and then checked to see if his insurance had any information which they had not. I contacted admissions and anyone that would listen to tell them but I got the canned response we are professionals and we know what we are doing. That was the only thing I could get for an answer rather than anything to address the problem. This went on until today and the Dr. said he is free to go home and I got prescriptions for a walker and meds then went down in a wheel chair and I loaded my son in the truck and went to get the walker. There was no walker at the pharmacy so I took my son home and carried him up the stairs to get him to a bedroom on the main floor. Maybe I can get the walker tomorrow. This is an admin problem not a medical staff problem. I plan to follow up with a formal complaint with the hospital tomorrow.

I arrived at St. Francis ER feeling like crud. The waiting room was packed. Got there at midnight on 11/15. Took about two hrs to get into a room. But considering people were walking in with bloodied bandages on their heads and parents brought in 4-5 infants they handled it well. Once I got into a roo. Out back it was all business. In the first 15 mins Casey had an IV in and took blood while John from respitory gave me abreathing treatment. Somewhere before that Pamela came and got me and the bed and had down to and back from xrays. Then Dr.43rd came in heard what was going on and said okay its probably influenza or a viral infection. Wait on xray and bloodwork to come back. During this time they brought me some warm blankets and Alex took over for stacey. Then Angie from registration came ins d ran my ID and insurance. She was so good that when we realized I brought the wrong I Sudans she even went and got me a form and explained how to copy both sides of card and mail it back in prepaid envelope. Dr.Reed came back and said its acute brochitid and a virali faction. Gave me a few shots some prescriptions and Im home. top-notch all the way folks.thanks. I feel a lot better. A.DICENZANO

The BEST experience with ANY facility in Wichita! I was having severe chest pains (something Ive never had before in my life) so I was scared of the possibilities. Now this is the first time Ive ever been here, all other treatments of prior places were DISGUSTING so I chose here and ...THANK GOD I DID!! I was treated like a human being through out all my testing from check in to check out. They moved EXTREMELY fast especially for how busy they were. They GENUINELY listened to my concerns. Turns out, Im OK and couldnt be more appreciative for the staff and doctors who helped me. Thank you so much. Would ONLY recommend this hospital out of all Wichita hospitals in general. These people actually Care!!
