Ive been seeing Dr. Merrill and the team at Abrams Forest for years. My pups ADORE her. Theyve also seen Dr. Kitz during emergencies. Ive referred so many friends to Abrams Forest and currently my roommate and I had six dogs and one cat seeing Dr. Merrill and her team. That stopped today. Let me reiterate that Dr. Merrill is amazing. HOWEVER, whoever does management in her office needs to re-evaluate their priorities. Weve been with Dr. Merrill through surgeries, the death of a dog, annual exams, you name it. Thousands and thousands of dollars have been spent in her office. Unfortunately, I no longer will be able to recommend her to all my dog owner friends. As you all know, owning a pet is expensive. Whenever the tab came to more than I could afford, Abrams Forest always had me just fill out a form and pay what I could when I could. I ALWAYS HONORED MY PAYMENTS. Today when I called, I was told by "Christy" that my lack of planning was not their problem. She was rude and gave me the usual "we dont do payment plans, if we do it for you, we have to do it for everyone." WELL, YOU SHOULD DO IT FOR EVERYONE. Honestly, this isnt some animal boutique in Highland Park. This is an animal clinic where sometimes people are in real life situations and just need a payment plan. Set up some rules. Existing patients only. If you miss a payment, you dont get the privilege again. But dont abuse the patients who have always honored the rules. Sometimes life pops up on you. Sometimes you have to buy a $200 tire at the last minute when you had that money set aside for your dogs vet visit. You could take advantage of low cost vaccination clinics but you WANT your dog to see a vet like Dr. Merrill because you know how much she cares about her furry little patients. Its disappointing to see what used to be such a tight knit family like clinic go down this path. I will miss seeing Dr. Merrill twice a year a vet visits and will certainly send her a note wishing her the best, but for now, the animals will be going someplace for their care. So long, Abrams Forest.

I left Medallion animal clinic for Abrams. I had been going to Medallion for about 6 months, but once they forgot about my appointment to get my dog spayed, I quickly left. I took it as a sign that I should not keep going there since I always thought that Medallions facilities were not that clean. I called my aunt for a recommendation, and she quickly sent me to Abrams. Dr. Merill was so nice to Nola (my dog)! She made sure that she was ok after the surgery, and we got a call from them to check in on her. We keep getting calls every few months to see how the Nola Baby is doing. In addition, their facilites in no way compare to Medallions. I have never seen a vets office so clean before! When you walk in early in the morning, you will have trouble finding dog hair in the rooms! Abrams focuses on the details and really makes the owners and their pets feel welcome. Jessica always gives Nola treats and weighs her to see how big she is getting, and gives her lots of loves, hugs, and kisses. They also always give you a receipt of what happened in the appointment so that you have a copy of the dogs records. When I signed Nola up for agility classes, they quickly sent her rabies certificate to the agility instructor, and called me to make sure they had received it. Nola is never scared going there, and when we turn into the vets office, she starts whining and scratching at the door because she cant wait to see Jessica. Plus, their office always smells like pumpkin pie. I love Abrams, and you will too!

Nothing. Worst vet experience of my life. Took my sick dog to an appointment to see Dr. Merrill, with devastating results. My dog was treatable, IF I payed $600.00 for oral medications right then. No guarantee on the results. And the rest of the treatment cost was left a mystery, but also due that same day. I unfortunately couldnt meet that demand on the spot, and offered the bulk upfront with credit card information to pay the balance in two days. I was told to leave. Dr. Merrill said it was "just business "! I guess they needed the exam room for the non-existant patients in their empty waiting room. The vets helper, Johnathan was rude and hateful and did his best to run me off asap. I took my mostly unconscious dog and left, after paying $100.00 for absolutely nothing. At home several hours later I watched my dog/bestfriend die a gruesome death. It was horrific. But, hey, its just business right? Im not surprised that the vets hours were altered for Black Friday, Dr. Merrill can go spend my money while I am burying my baby. I never asked for a hand out, just some compassion. Thank you for your holiday gift to me Dr. Merrill, I hope yours is as full of grief as you made mine.

Ive been to this clinic twice now and had absolutely wonderful appointments with Dr. Merrill. My dog is a rescue and is very shy/timid with new people, Dr. Merrill really took her time with her and our examinations have gone very well. For both appts, she came in on time, and immediately sat on the floor to make friends with my dog- even before saying hello to me. In Dr. Merrill, I see a kind woman who really does care about your animals well-being. We discuss not only medications but also discuss homeopathic remedies that are a cheaper alternative with the same results. When Ive recommended some friends to this vet they say Abrams is more expensive than the one they go to- Ive never checked prices for other vets, but because the place is clean, the techs are good with my dog, and I absolutely love Dr. Merrill, even if they are a bit more pricey Im glad to pay it. I would recommend this vet clinic to anyone and everyone!

I never write reviews, but I felt I should this time. I was looking for a new vet that would take good care of my senior dog. I met Dr. Merrill and she really took the time to go over my dogs records and really took the time to learn about him. She sat down with my dog and let him get to know her which is the type of care I was looking for. I was tired of the higher prices of my old place and not knowing what vet I would see from visit to visit. I read all the reviews on Abrams Forest Vet Clinic and they all echoed what I have said here. I would also like to say the rest of the staff was great also. Im so glad I found a vet I feel like I can trust for the final years of my dogs life and for the future with any other dog.

Its the best vet ever! They genuinely care about your animals. Weve been taking our cat and dog there for a few years now and weve never had a single bad experience. They dont run unnecessary tests and are really honest with you about whether a treatment will be a good idea or not. They are always gentle and loving with the animals, and once when my cat was obviously very nervous, the doctor just kind of hugged her close and snuggled her. So. Cute. Theyll even fit you in last minute when the problem seems alarming or serious. I highly recommend this vet. You really get the feeling that they just want your pets to be as happy and healthy as possible.
