THIS IS OUR SECOND REVIEW WITH THE LATEST UPDATES: Our poor Shih Tzu Winston has had several issues with his eyes over the past 2 years. It was 2 years ago that our Shih Tzu actually needed to have one of his eyes removed due to a perforated ulcer that had simply damaged the eye beyond repair. Dr. Warren, Dr. Pierson, & the entire team at Veterinary Eye Institute of Plano helped us through that very difficult time and our Winston has recovered quite well since then. Weve continued to take him in for eye checkups on a semi-annual basis to ensure that we keep his last remaining eye as healthy as we possibly can. A little over two weeks ago, our poor Winstons eye started to get extremely gray and cloudy again. Which is the exact same thing that happened 2 years ago when he ultimately lost his other eye. Luckily the Veterinary Eye Institute of Plano team is on call 24 hours a day for emergencies and Dr. Eng, along with a very friendly Vet Tech named Christy, were kind enough to meet us at their office at 10:30 PM on a Friday night to check him out. Winston had a raging eye infection that had actually caused him to lose his ability to be able to see for a couple days. Once again we called around 9:00 PM on the next Friday night and Dr. Warren, and another very friendly Vet Tech Jeanie, met us at their office to take another look at him as he seemed to have been getting worse. Luckily we were able to figure out what was going on with him and were able to attack his infection with different antibiotics & medicines. Winston has been improving each and every day since this all began to happen. Each of these ordeals has been very hard & nerve wracking for us to endure. Its very difficult to process certain information and news when you are very worried about your beloved fur baby. That being said, we are extremely grateful & very fortunate to have the Veterinary Eye Institute of Plano team in our lives now to help our dear Winston when needed for each of these concerns. I cant say enough great things about their ability to ensure not only all of your questions are answered thoroughly, but also that theyll 100% be able to put your mind at ease during these very stressful and tense pet emergencies. During our latest late Friday night visit, Dr. Warren even joked that he felt like we had become part of the family since we had been there so many times over the years & had gotten to know everyone there quite well. Thats actually the best way to describe how they will make you feel when you bring your beloved pet in to be seen :) Thank you again for everything youve done for us and will continue to do for us, Veterinary Eye Institute of Plano! Keep up the awesome work!

Dr. Warren has ruined our family on vets because his practice is the highest standard in positive service. KNOWLEDGEABLE: These people know what theyre doing. Dr. Warren and Dr. Pierson not only know what they see when they look at our little ones eyes, but they explain it to customers in laymans terms. We came to VEI with our dog, Bailey, unfortunately because of eye issues (he was diagnosed with diabetes, which caused cataracts and other eye issues), but Dr. Warren explained everything as well as our options. Some surgery can be expensive, but they have always explained several options with different prices. They arent judgmental even when were broke. :) We always take their advice though. COMPASSIONATE & LOVING: These people love our dog, and he knows it. Jami and the other assistants always love on Bailey, so he sort of feels like hes going to a friends house. PROFESSIONAL: The beautiful new building and the system of checking people in and out (as well as setting up the next appointment) is always painless and easy. And the coffee bar, drinks and snacks in the waiting room are a nice touch. The SPARK: The best thing by far about Veterinary Eye Institute is that these are just good and kind people. They smile. They ask me how Im doing (and mean it). I actually LIKE taking my dog to the optometrist because I enjoy seeing the staff and trust them with my dog. Dr. Warren has built a small business that works because he understands happy relationships are the heart of service. I wish they could package and teach their office culture to others. Normal vets, doctors, and plenty of other services can learn from their example.

The entire team at Veterinary Eye Institute is absolutely amazing! Winston, my Shih Tzu, had a perforated ulcer on his left eye a couple months ago and ultimately needed to have it removed. Dr. Pierson and Dr. Warren took the extra time to go over all the details and options with me on why it was the right thing to do. They truly made a very sad situation a whole lot better. Winston is back to 110% now and you would never be able to tell he only had one eye. My other dog Pooh Bear, is a Sharpei-Lab mix that previously had to have surgery for entropion in both eyes as a puppy. After dealing with the horrible eye injury with Winston, I decided to take Pooh Bear in just as a precaution. He wasnt having any eye issues at the moment, however I wanted to have him checked out anyway just to be 100% sure everything was fine. Dr. Warren checked him out and said he looked perfect and his eyes were very healthy. Dr. Warren and the entire team at the Veterinary Eye Institute genuinely care for both the pets and the owners alike. He knew we had gone through a tough ordeal with Winston a couple months prior, and were just wanting to make sure everything was good with our other dog. As we were about to leave, he said that he wouldnt be charging us for this checkup and also hoped we have a merry christmas. He really didnt have to do that, as I truly value his time and overall care for my dogs. That gesture really meant a great deal to me and I will only refer my friends and family to take their beloved pets to the team at Veterinary Eye Institute. Keep up the amazing work! Sincerely, Travis Robinson.

My dog Barkley is a 12yr old Shih-Tzu. He had a mass pop up on his eye lid. The mass grew very quickly. We were unsure of the best course of action, especially when our original vet did not feel comfortable dealing with the issue. She referred us to Dr. Warren and he gave us 2 options, 1. Remove part of the mass and send it off for testing then come back and review. 2. Remove the eye. Removing the mass by itself, wasnt really on the table mainly because the mass was on the top eye lid. (We need our top eye lid to help moisten our eyes.) So we went with option 2 to save on costs. After he started the surgery, he called us -- in the middle of surgery -- and said he thought he could remove the mass and save the eye! We were hopeful. He called us back after the surgery and said that it was successful. The mass was gone, the eye was saved!! We were over the moon. Not only that the eye was saved but that this doctor we met on an emergency basis connected with us and our dog and our situation and went above and beyond to help us. Its about 3wks post op and if you were to look at Barkley you wouldnt even know he had surgery. We love you Dr. Warren and appreciate your time and attention to detail. I felt like you were as equally invested as we were. When you humbly stated that we pushed your surgical abilities - we were in awe. Thanks again!!! The Metoyers
