White Pine came highly recommended to us from a friend for our new kitten and puppy. I, however, DO NOT RECOMMEND White Pine Vet Clinic. We usually take our pets to River Valley Vet Hospital in Morgan, UT. This time around our pets only needed vaccinations so we were considering taking them to White Pine due to difference in distance/travel time. I called the White Pine to schedule an appointment for vaccinations. The lady helping us over the phone asked for our pets info (age, color, breed, etc) and we scheduled an appointment two days (12/30/15) from when we called. Luckily, we had our first red flag before wasting a trip up to Park City.... The lady told us, "Make sure you bring a stool sample from each pet." ....During our conversation, not once did I ask or inquire for any other service aside from basic vaccinations. I thought maybe this was a service included in the mandatory "Exam Fee." Just in case, I asked. I first asked her what the sample would be for. She said, "To test the animals for intestinal parasites." Great! My follow-up question, of course, was if it would cost any additional money. Her reply was, "Yes, its an additional cost." I then proceeded to ask why they didnt disclose that information to me. The lady told me, "Well its one of our recommended procedures." .....I immediately cancelled our appointment and told the lady talking to us they need to check their business ethics. White Pine had full intentions of not informing us that this procedure wasnt included and also it was an additional charge. They also were very aware that we were a new customer and that we did not inquire about any other services. Weve had similar experiences to this at other vets here in Salt Lake. They are only in the business of making money. They will try to up-sell you on pointless services and procedures (teeth cleaning, special food, and a lot of unnecessary tests) Were more than happy to hear what recommended services or products our vet has, BUT this should be done in an ethical way. Example, disclose if a Pet Food company offers rewards or kickbacks for exclusively recommending a product. Same goes for services from the vet. Please set aside what is required vs what is recommended. People tend to trust their doctors and vets way too much. FYI: I called River Valley Vet right after getting off the phone with White Pine. I scheduled an appointment for the very next day and for HALF THE PRICE! Plus they didnt try to up-sell me by telling me to do something without giving me the choice. So it looks like well be traveling to Morgan for even the simplest of our pets needs. An extra 20 minutes of drive time will save us $100 and the headache.

White Pine has a lot of great vet techs working there, however I have had multiple bad experiences here that I just cant rate this higher than a one star. My 12 year old cat was recommended to have her teeth clean, while I was against putting my senior pet under for a teeth cleaning, the vet (Dr. Magali) pushed and pushed the issue. She called and followed up so many times and made me feel like a bad pet owner if I didnt do this procedure. I gave in and the day of the cleaning I signed forms and indicated that the vet could NOT pull teeth without calling for my consent. When my cat was out of the procedure the vet called and talked about how she pulled teeth. I was clearly upset and told her that the forms I signed I indicated she was not allowed to do that without my consent over the phone. She once again pushed on me and MADE ME PAY extra hundreds of dollars for something I signed saying she could not do it. Not only did I have to pay and was forced to pay by the vet, when I asked for the signed copy of the papers I filled out this morning- I was refused by the vet and front desk. Months later, our family got a dog. While I was still upset about the teeth cleaning for my cat, I needed the basic annual shots and a microchip for my dog. So I gave White Pine another chance. Because I got a new pet, I received a $15 gift certificate so after the dog got its shots, a couple months later I decided to try the doggie daycare. My dog got kennel cough from their daycare, after white pine "vaccinated" the dog from this just months earlier. I went in to tell them and they tried to give me another gift certificate for doggie daycare to make it all better. When I said I would not be bringing my dog back and asked for both my dog and cats files.. things got EVEN WORSE. My dog was labeled as a cat, wrong birthday, wrong year of age, wrong phone number etc. on her paperwork. Also the previous vet files I made sure I brought in for both pets were NEVER scanned into the system and lost. They also completely skipped over what happened to my cat during her dental cleaning in the file notes. My advice to anyone in PC who cares about their pets and pocket books.. you shouldnt go to White Pine. I gave them multiple chances and I cant believe the carelessness of this facility and the rudeness/unprofessionalism of Dr. Magali on multiple accounts.

My pup was misdiagnosed, she was in several times, each time a new misdiagnosis. From the first day the the vet wanted to scan, xray and do blood work which the estimates were over 1K, it seemed that building the cost was more important than what the issues were with my pup. My baby just had pneumonia and needed treatment, she was diagnosed with kidney infection, we took her there for two days for intravenous IVs and meds to get better, this did not work, she was given a anti nausea med because she was coughing on Saturday and a couple days later after an x-ray with a mass in her abdomen and cancer in her lung . I was told they would verify the findings of the cancer later that day with a call from a radiologist. No treatment for her lungs at all which they had also x-rayed that day . She should have been given a shot of antibiotics immediately yet was not. She could not take the pills yet was prescribed 7 different meds in 6 days. Another 400$ of meds that we could not get down her or that she could not keep down. An old friend vet that used to take care of Maddie ( I forwarded the x-rays to him ) suggested we take her to AVC in Salt Lake. We did right after leaving White Pine and they admitted her into their ICU immediately. They could not believe how bad her lungs were. She was on oxygen therapy and intravenous meds thru the night, her lungs were so far gone there was nothing they could do. Our little angel went to sleep that morning........ our loss is so sad, we our heartbroken, White Pine did not even call to check on her until 2 days after those horrible x-rays when they told me she had cancer......... I know had she been diagnosed properly my baby would be here with us today....we will NEVER take our animals there again- (Just a heads up, Maddie was in the ICU and had 2 sets of x-rays, and an echocardiogram, respiratory therapy and oxygen therapy for 9 hours, plus all of her medical injections at AVC... and 24 hour care for under 1K. White Pine charged me $395 for just an X-ray,. Also some of her pills were up to $10 each......... REALLY??? Such a scam.....)
