I have a 12 yr old daughter whom is a non verbal autistic child whom Dr Aiello saw 3 yrs ago for less than 10 minutes. When I asked about short term and long term goals he gave me the worse brush off ever. Told me to relay on Norfolk public schools to continue any and all workings with her. And for long term goals told me to prepare for my death because after Im dead someone will need to care for her until her death. so have money and burial arrangements in place. And he washes his hands of her. I had my globally delayed son of 4 yrs looked at 2 days before. He didnt do much better with him either. Told me to take him to CHKD for evaluations in OT PT and ST. Only PT let him go because of graduation from program. Others didnt want to deal with his not advancing at their speed. So I got my son into Norfolk public school. However Dr Aiello wanted to act like that was his idea 3 months after he got in. Dr Aiello saw my son a time maybe after that for a few mins and hasnt seen him in almost 2 yrs since. I never heard back about other appointments. Today I went there after his pediatrician had a fit about the lack of interest in my children. At my daughters appointment their only interest was to tell me how I need to let The Tidewater Autistic Society deal with her. Again passing the buck. My son was there 10 mins and he was like well since I dont remember him or his progress let me get his school records and see how hes doing in Kindergarten next year so that in about 9 to 12 months he might be able to see if hes making any progress from where he was. And then give my office a chance to loss him in the cracks which Im sure is the reason for a 2 yr break. There is a policy that says you cant switch doctors in practice for first 3 year. Hello a week ago has been 3 years but still refuse to let me see other doctors. They say its for consistency. But got to have consistent care in order for that to work or apply. Worst doctor Ive ever seen. I have a medical diploma, my husband and mother work in the medical field and we all agree. Never see this doctor!

Dr. Frank Aiello is a Developmental Pediatrician, which is who I am reviewing. Dr. Frank is a Pediatric Neurologist...and our son has seen both. I can see where there could easily be confusion of the 2. Dr. Aiello is a highly competent Developmental Pediatrician, IMO. He spent 2 hours with us and our 11 y.o. Russian-born son at our initial visit and was extremely thorough. Our wait for an initial appointment was the most reasonable of the 4 states we have lived in since adopting. (2-3 months instead of 9-12) Although I highly recommend Dr. Aiello as a specialist, there is too little of him to go around...so do not expect to get an earlier appointment unless you change it immediately. However, the office staff are good to return phone calls and to assist with Rx renewals or dosage changes between appointments...and you will speak with a real person. :-) Being a paramedical professional as an SLP who has researched our sons needs extensively, I appreciated that Dr. Aiello valued my input. (I have found few specialists who do so.) Dr. Aiello also took the time to tell us about many local opportunities and resources available, related to our sons needs/interests as we are new to Hampton Roads. Dr. Aiello was a wealth of information and a huge help to our family! We have seen him twice now and he was an equally good listener the 2nd visit, taking time to review reports we had obtained at his request in the meantime. He referred our son for an OT eval...and they called us to take care of everything. We are really liking this CHKD network so far!

Dr Aiello, the Developmental Ped, is horrible. He is unfit to be a Doctor and even more unfit to work with children. Its not because hes blunt but because he can call a child retarded and tell a parents that their life is over because of that child. I am very disappointed with CHKD for allowing someone to still be in practice with their hospital. Im sure there are a few parents that like this idiot but for us who have children that he doesnt understand, hes a horrible horrible horrible doctor. CHKD you really need to get rid of him!
