Oh wow. I dont know what to say. I really thought this was a quality practice and I trusted my dogs care to them. My husband and I have never used a kennel before and I called Valley West to arrange accommodations for our dog so we could go away for the weekend. I spoke to a person on the phone and asked specifically whether our dog would be walked, I was told- yes in the morning and in the evening. This was important to me because our dog will never soil a kennel. I dropped her off at 11am, and left instructions for her feeding and we left for Stonewall Resort. We returned early in time to pick her up at 2pm Sunday. Our dog stunk like fish guts, her feet and fur were all wet and the moment she went outside, she pooped immediately. Within the next hour, she pooped 3 more times! This is a dog who typically is like clockwork, dinner, a little walk, and then poop. I was concerned and I called the practice, I spoke to the practice manager and it was at this time I learned, much to my horror and disgust, that my dog never had an opportunity to walk on Saturday. I dropped her off and they fed her, and locked her in until I picked her up 26 hours later. They cannot explain the fish oil all over her which caused her to need emergency grooming, they cannot explain what they call the "miscommunication" of not telling me that my dog would be put in those kind of conditions. Emily, the office manager explained to me that they usually recommend people find other kennel options, I said that recommendation was never made to me. She told me this is how they have been doing it forever. I asked her if that made it right. She offered to return my $20., but that really is not the point. If I had been told that my dog was going to be locked in a cage for 24 hours after being fed, I never would have put her there. I asked all the right questions, I was just given false answers. Fool me once- shame on you.

If you love your pet do not take them to this vet! I had been told about them, but I did not listen. They do not care about your animal. The only thing they want is your money and then will give you the run around, which is what I was told and have recently experienced myself. Now simple stuff like a nail trim and flea medicine, they can handle. Also, if you ever hear an animal crying while your there its because they dont sedate animals before they put them down, according to the secretary, which I inquired about after hearing a cat meowing for about 45 minutes! After 1300 in vet visits and medications over the course of 3 months, my dogs health still declined, when they should have figured out what was wrong with her before just prescribing her all kinds of meds. Then after another 200, they finally told me what was wrong, and then I had to put her down of course because I had spent my savings on treatments she did not need. So, simple stuff sure a great place. If your animal is actually sick, take them elsewhere!!

Theyre fine for general animal care, but when I took my cat in due to getting fly paper stuck onto his tail, they told me they would have to shave it. I had no idea that cats would see their tail as an anomaly when it doesnt have fur on it. So when my cat was brought out to me, he had this huge flourescent colored bandage on the shaved area of his tail, and a cone on his head. I bout fell over. It was a huge PITA to care for this cat at home under those conditions; having to take off the cone so he could eat or drink, and then he would attack his tail, biting it until it bled, and wed have to catch him. It was distressful for all of us. Not being told of this behavioral issue ahead of time really got me POd.

We love Valley West and have taken most all of our pets to them. Our rescue dog, Trixie, developed a mass behind her eye several years ago, which they were able to diagnose, and refer us to Virginia Tech for specialized treatment. Our current dog, blew out both of her ACLs last year and Dr. Isaac was absolutely wonderful with her. She had surgery last fall on the most unstable leg and we were very pleased with her treatment and the staff there. A year later, and she doesnt even have a noticeable limp. Each time we go there, whether it be for one of our 3 cats or our dog, we are always pleased with our visit.

I have been taking my pet here for years, and I must say Im very pleased with the care in which they give my animals. I had my puppy spayed & they sent me a photo and a progress report on her after she was finished; I thought this was very kind of them to do, because I was worried about her. There has never been any issues with scheduling or even cost on different things. The staff are very professional and meet the needs of my pet and myself. Very clean facility as well and that is a plus!! I could go on and on with my experiences, but I recommend this facility to anyone that has pets.

Such a wonderful vet office! The staff are excellent and all of the vets are great! They are always so attentive to my pets needs and address my concerns. Our last dog had Addisons disease and Dr. Any Keith did an excellent job of managing it. Thanks to her, our dog got to live a long and happy life despite her disease and Dr. Keith was there for us every step of the way! We just got our current dog a year ago, he has some anxiety issues, and theyve been a huge help in managing them. I cant praise this office enough!

I have taken my dogs to Valley West for over 30 years. The staff is great. Dr. Marshall has always cared for my dogs like they were his own. My dogs have had simple things done such as nail trim and bathing to major surgery. I have always been happy with the care my dogs have received. Last year I was having heart surgery, when my Saint Bernard became very ill. My wife could not get him to the vet and called Valley West and Dr. Marshall came to the house and took care of everything. Very caring doctors and staff.

They are skilled in medicine, surgery, and talking with the family even when it is time to make the hardest decisions about your pet. Dr. Tom Issac is by far my favorite, but my cats trust all the vets there. My only complaints are their limited doctors hours, and that they no longer do blood transfusions. For that you must go to the Emergency Animal Hospital in South Charleston, and they are much more expensive, and only open 7pm to 7am. I recommend that you trust Valley West with your precious pets.

I LOVE Valley West Veterinary Hospital because they LOVE my cocker spaniel Bella! We receive friendly greetings, they make over her like long-lost family (even though we are relatively new patients), and the doctor staff is gentle, extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and pro-active. I even board her there when I am out of town because I know they will give her tender loving care, and will answer my silly phone calls when a lonely mom checks in on her from out of town.
