I brought my dog here September of 2015 because she was having a issue with her eye. The Vet said she thought my dog had ectopic eyelashes (meaning her eyelashes were growing out of place and irritating her eye). The Vet recommended surgery and asked me to come in 2 weeks later for a recheck. I came in 2 weeks later and saw a different vet who agreed with the ectopic diagnosis but because my dog is only 4 pounds and just over a year old he did not recommend surgery. I was not charged a recheck fee at this visit. I decided to take my dog to a vet who specializes in the eyes. Turns out my dog does not have ectopic -- she was born with no tear gland and has chronic dry eye. Imaging if I would have scheduled unneccesary surgery!!!! I should have known from this NOT to go back. My dog was due for her Rabies shot -- I called their office and was told by Jennifer that I would not have to pay for a exam because my dog was just there 3 months ago and had an exam. During my visit the Vet recommended she get her nails cut which I declined because her nails were cut the day before! He also recommended everything else under the sun including heart worm testing, heart worm preventative, flea and tick preventative, and the distemper vaccine. Mind you, my dog is 4 pounds and is a INDOOR dog. Upon checking out with Laurie I was told there would be a $70 exam fee! I explained to her that Jennifer told me I would not have to pay for an exam since my dog just had one 3 months ago. Laurie disappeared in the back room and came back to let me know that "Normally they dont do this but they would only charge me 1/2 ($35) for the exam). I explained that I was not happy that I should not have to pay, especially when their representative told me I wouldnt be charged but alas, I bit the bullet and paid the $35. During my visit the Vet told me that if I decided to get my dog the distemper shot, due to her size, that I would need to wait 2 weeks and come back for another appointment. I asked Laurie about booking this appointment and she told me I would have to pay for the vaccine (obviously) AND a recheck fee!! Recheck for what I asked?! She had no answer. I asked for my dogs records and let her know that I would not be coming back. She said she would email them to me that evening and I still have not received them. Was a really eye opening, sad experience for me. I really felt that they were just trying to over charge me for anything they could think of.

The first One Love Animal Hospital I went to was in Downtown Brooklyn. I found them online; they had rave reviews and a holistic vet on staff-- just what I was looking for. That location was peaceful and calm, so my cats, who dont like going to vets, were the least freaked out they had ever been. I moved to Bay Ridge in June 2013 and was happy to discover that there was a new One Love Animal Hospital literally a block away. Of course, I was hoping my cats would have no reason to go the vet anytime soon. However, that is not what happened. Long story short: I originally brought my cat, Lily, there for the diagnosis and treatment of her UTI . I, naively, held off on further recommending testing for another potential serious issue ( so I could financially recover for a month or so) because I thought I had time and was just hoping for the best. Several weeks later she started to very rapidly decline (like within a few days she was a very different cat), so I brought her if there again and it was confirmed she had cancer. Instinctively, I knew she was dying and I caught it too late. The One Love Vet staff was incredibly kind, compassionate, organized and competent through out the whole experience. The clinic itself is the cleanest, most peaceful atmosphere that I have ever experienced at a vet clinic, which I am sure the animals feel. Dr. Katie Grzyb was very compassionate and went the extra mile to accommodate myself and Lily, especially for Lilys euthanization, which was very peaceful and loving. So, I want to thank One Love Vet for kind, caring and excellent service.

I had the pleasure of discovering One Love in Bay Ridge after a horrific experience with a local Vet. I had a cat with some severe dental disease and required surgery. Dr. DOnofrio performed the surgery and our kitty is back to normal (albeit a few teeth short :D) and happy. I had another senior cat (scamp) who was struggling with asthma and they (Dr. DOnofrio and Dr. Tsang) were very patient and helpful through out multiple visits. They were thorough and explained everything. They took the time with us to answer all our questions and I always left feeling like I was in a better position to understand my cats issues. Unfortunately she is now passed away but because of another complication that she developed in her old age. One Love and Dr. DOnofrio were very understanding of it being the end of my pets life. They were caring, patient and helped me make the best decision that I could. She and the Nurse (sorry i dont know her name) came to my apartment to help me through this so that my furry beast could be as comfortable as possible. I highly recommend anyone in the bay ridge area to bring their pets here. I have never seen such a caring and comfortable to go to vet in my 30+ years as a pet owner and multiple vets visited throughout the country. My praise is very high for this hospital. Thank you for all your help.

Ive got a lot of animals and wasnt having a lot of luck with vets in Bay Ridge. Since I was a "frequent flyer" at VERG in Cobble Hill, I was bringing them there instead. However, VERG is a referral and surgical vet, not a "wellness" care facility. They wouldnt, for instance, give my pets a regular checkup or shots. I still needed a Bay Ridge vet. I happened to walk by One Love one evening and noticed that it was large, well-designed and that obviously someone had invested a lot in a first-rate operation. So when it came time for the dogs rabies shot and checkup I took them there. It was all smooth sailing. I wasnt left waiting for two hours for an appointment as I usually was a Bay Ridge Animal Hospital. The vet was young, personable and schooled in modern medicine. We were in and out in a half hour. When it came time for my large rescue cat, Casey, to get some much-needed dental work, I took him to One Love. About a third of his teeth were rotten from life on the streets. They did a fabulous job on him. It wasnt cheap but it was extensive oral surgery. More to the point, a few days later Casey became the happiest cat in the world. Theyve got a regular client in me.
