I cannot begin to express the degree of satisfaction I experienced at DC Optics. Dr. Cheng is the penultimate professional. Dr. Cheng has a rare bedside manner that should be used as a training tool for all student optometrists. While he thanked me for coming in, what really struck me was how sincerely appreciative he was towards me for having come from such a long distance just to be seen by him. His humility and graciousness was on display more than once during my visit. With a stellar rating on Yelp and Google as well as as Zocdocs, I felt he had a right to exhibit some of smugness so often seen in super docs and lawyers who have been consumed by public adulation and online ratings. But not Dr. Cheng. He gave me the most thorough eye exam I have ever had. Being one of the many citizens of this country who do not carry health insurance, I am very reluctant to venture blindly (no pun intended) into securing medical services because I know I will be paying full price for the services received. The cost of this exam was $149.00. I had calculated in my head, what I had come to expect from an eye exam because I wanted to make sure I was getting a bang for my buck. My concerns were put to rest early on. Dr. Cheng delved deep into my medical history. He explained things about my vision I had never heard from any other optical professional. He broke down my misunderstanding of depth perception and the different vision options I could pursue to rid myself of an aversion to driving. But here is where I was just blown away by Dr. Cheng. After an exhaustive exam of reading charts, flipping through corrective lenses, getting my eye pressure tested, and an informal and detailed Q & A, Dr. Cheng had determined that my right eye vision had changed a bit. When he put a lense over my eye (glasses on), my vision was incredibly crisp--almost unnaturally crisp. He said my reaction was natural. Seeing perfect vision after seeing the world through what I thought was perfect vision. But he decided to leave my prescription the same when he saw my left eye give up or pull away. I sensed it as soon as he put the lense to my face. It was as if my left eye just gave up--surrendering to my dominant right eye. He actually commended my former doctor for seeing this as the reason for my current prescription. Underprescribing so as not to subject my right eye to an inordinate amount of work. He then concluded the exam by showing me a 3D computer image of my eyes. That was both freaky and fascinating. On my way out, he thanked me a third time for travelling such a great distance to procure his services. Alex the wonderful receptionist, processed my bill. I expressed interest in getting a lense in a frame I had and she was gracious in explaing the different types of lenses I could get in my glasses. Danny took my measurements, took my frames and told me my frames would be ready on a few days. I am sure one can tell by the length of this review I had a phenomenal experience here. When most people seem to be dissatisfied or distrustful of the entire medical profession, it is truly refreshing to have found a dedicated, honest and fair professional engaged in not only his work but in his patients and their needs. Dr. Cheng is without a doubt, worthy of each one of his five stars earned and I would recommend him to anyone seeking an optometrist without hesitation.

Was looking for a new eye doctor in Brooklyn so I went to this cute optical store in Fort Greene based on a friends recommendation and was super pleased with the overall experience and my new tortoise shell Modo frames with transition lenses and anti-glare!! Heres a breakdown of what I loved about DC Optics - 1. Excellent customer service - Dennis and Michael are such friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful optometrists that helped me pick out frames that suited my style and face shape - they even took pics of me modeling each on their iPad so I could compare them. 2. Thorough eye exams using the latest technology - no puffs in the eye and they even analyze the nerves around your eyes (mine are healthy - yay! :)) 3. Awesome variety of frames and very affordable!! They carry sharp frames for professionals, funky ones (e.g., Betsey Johnson) for the fashionista, Eco-friendly ones (141 Eyewear) that help a kid in need of glasses and an eye exam for every pair you buy, nickel-free frames for people like me - score!!, sporty ones (e.g., Nike) among others. Plus they might still have the 30% off sale going on for some frames. 4. Accepts many types of insurance - fellow teachers, they accept UFT insurance!! Random perks of this cute optical store are - The kids activity area Cuddle time and a picture with the store mascot - a French bulldog named Ollie - rockin your new glasses Free apple lip balm if you like them on Facebook I hardly ever write reviews, but I was so pleased with everything that I just had to share - I want to see this small business succeed so go check it out! You wont be disappointed - I promise!

Absolutely fantastic experience. Both Dr. Dennis and Michael were so friendly and welcoming. I was seen for a contact lens fitting and a routine eye exam by Dr. Dennis Cheng. The doctor was very informative throughout my entire exam. He explained every procedure and answered all of my questions. He was very patient with me and even gave me a pair of contact lens to try on in the store. He even helped me pick out my frames. Yes! The doctor who just performed my eye exam really came out from behind the desk and helped me go through almost all of the frames in the store until I chose a pair I loved. He also checked the prescription on the glasses I purchased from elsewhere and Michael fixed the issue I was having with those frames right in the store. Most other places Ive been to are overcrowded and overbooked, with doctors and staff who barely remember your name until the time comes to bill you. At DC Optics, you will get real attention and amazing service from professionals who will take care of you. Ive been telling all of my friends about them and I hope my review encourages others to visit them. You will not be disappointed.

Dennis Cheng is my go to eyeglasses/contacts guy. I used to used Toric 66 soflens for astigmatism for years. He told me those are so old and gave me better lens that are much more comfortable and approved for short naps. He says they let in much more air than the old ones. I was worried because other optometrists said because of my astigmatism, i should continue with the Toric 66, which I used for over 10 years. Dennis gave me much more up to date information and better selection and honesty. He explains things in details and seems always on top of new technology and medical research, especially pertaining to your eyes. Definately A+

DC Optics consistently goes above and beyond to provide excellent customer service. On my first visit, I was amazed how personable and professional Dr. Cheng is. He provided an efficient eye exam with top notch equipment and then a very clear explanation how some minor tweaks to the types of contact lens I used would make a big difference to me. After a month of testing my new contacts, Ive become convinced that Dr. Chengs recommendations were quite helpful. In short, as a new customer, I was highly impressed with the service I received and very grateful to have them in the neighborhood.
