I saw Dr. Kohan after a visit to the Emergency Room at St. Catherines Hospital in Smithtown. On a Friday afternoon I started with lower back pain and body aches and a low fever of only 100.4. I thought it was just a virus. I went through the weekend and the pain moved from my lower back to my front side, specifically my belly button. As time went on I was in excruciating pain and on Monday morning I had enough. I went to Urgent Care and told them of my pain. I had some existing symptoms that were a factor as well. I had a cyst on my left ovarie, and a small kidney stone on my left side and most importantly I had a Fibroid Tumor on the top outside of my uterus. Urgent Care would not even touch me and told me to go to the E.R. at St. Catherines. While at the E.R. I received a C.T. Scan where the Fibroid Tumor was front and center. They quickly sent me through GYN for a Sonogram and Transvaginal Ultrasound. The last time I had the Fibroid measured it was two years ago and it was significantly smaller. The head of surgery met with my husband and I and I was admitted overnight. The next morning Dr. Dodis Kohan met with us in my room. He told me the Fibroid Tumor was very large and it needed to be removed. He examined my abdomen in the room and then told us to discharge from the hospital and meet at his office. Once at Dr. Kohans office he performed a biopsy and pelvic exam. He was fast, and explained everything and was very sympathetic toward my pain. Between the sonogram, transvaginal ultrasound, pelvic exam, and biopsy it was determined my best plan for me would be a Hysterectomy. Dr. Kohans was firm with his plan which put me at ease. He scheduled the earliest surgery he could and the Hysterectomy went perfectly smooth that Friday. The Fibroid Tumor I had was measuring at about 16 week pregnancy. I had excruciating pain radiating from my belly button. The Fibroid measured 10x9x8 cm. I thought it was the size of a baseball but it was much much bigger. Dr. Kohans was able to save my ovaries and just take the tumor, uterus, and tubes. I am only 39years old. I had been living in pain for so long that I didnt even know what it felt like to feel normal. I am healing from the Hysterectomy now but once I get through this I will finally be able to have energy during the day, and keep up with my kids and even do the dishes without pain of leaning against the counter. Dr. Kohans was true-life heaven sent. I finally had this doctor that cared about the problem. I finally had a doctor Take Charge of my care and not ask me what I thought when I needed their expertise so badly. I would recommend Dr. Kohan to anyone. I will sing high praises of him from this day on. I will never go to another gyn. Dr. Kohan made me comfortable and confident in his skills.

I was referred from my primary literally across the street from Dr. Cohan. I was seen the same day I was referred and diagnosed and treated in all that same day. Plus I was told there was a simple procedure for something that had been bothering me and had ambulatory surgery that next month at St. Catherines . The front desk which were also back office assistants were very sweet and helpful. I would recommend this office highly to anyone looking for prompt and helpful treatment or maintenance.

I wish zero stars was an option! Not recommended, as soon as I walked in I didnt like the environment. Their receptionist is not friendly at all and whoever works in their billing department needs to be replaced. Was billed over $300 for a mistake on their end and they were not helpful at all. Thankfully my insurance helped me out and were able to clear the bill for me because of their error. Not recommended unless you like headaches!

I have been going to Dr. Kohan for 13 years. I met him and Stacy as a teenager when they worked at the Queens Long Island Medical Group in Ronkonkoma. His bedside manner was above and beyond during my pregnancy and after. I was a proud patient when he opened his own office and took Stacy with him. They staff (Stacy and his wife) are always courteous and extremely helpful. Dr. Kohan is AMAZING and I dread the day he retires.

Do not go there. They find ways to bill you extra so they can make more money. The staff is rude and unprofessional.
