Dr. Mekayss profile on her website is FALSE. She has only been practicing dentistry in New York since 2010. She is not a member of any of the affiliations she has listed...not a member of the NYS Dental Association, not a member of the American Dental Association, not a member of the American Association of Implant Dentistry. I ran her name on all of these professional association websites and did not find her, so I called each of them verify what I didnt find. What a stupid mistake she made...especially knowing how easy it is to check this stuff on the internet. Now he NYS Dental Association is doing an investigation as well as the NYS Department of Education. Luckily, I checked her out before forking over thousands of dollars in dental work. Always do your research on the doctor before you pay for any medical or dental services ... especially if its self pay.

I took my grand daughter for a root canal yesterday and asked Dr. Macawy to give her a prescription for pain as I have had many root canals in my lifetime and some of them did cause a great deal of pain once the novacain wore off. She refused saying that there is no pain after root canal. My grand daughter was in agony all night last night and we called her and found out her answering machine was full. What kind of doctor is this?When I called this morning I was told she was not in until 2 PM and would call at her convenience. Meanwhile my grand daughter is still suffering. This is totally unacceptable and unprofessional. This is a dental mill who is supposed to be open 24 hours and is not. DO NOT USE THIS DENTIST!

To be honest, I am very shocked at the reviews listed below. Island Smile employees were very friendly and explained everything to me. The Dentist over there is very good and thorough in his explanations of procedures and cases. The dentist followed up with me the following day to make sure everything was OK and I was not in any pain. They also provide different payment plans which is helpful. The Dentist was not pushy in presenting his case choices and procedures to me and did a very good job on my teeth! My review for this place is EXCELLENT! Good customer service and good dentists!

I love Island Smile!!!!! I started with them on an emergency basis a little over 4 years ago. I picked the office out of a phone book because they were close and they were still open. I live in Florida now and still use Island Smile. The staff is very friendly, caring and efficient. My dentist, Dr Nilay Nanavati, is gentle and kind. He does amazing work! Ive had extractions, root canal, crowns, bridges, scaling and whitening. My husband has dental implants. They do it all and they do it well! I highly recommend Island Smile.

I had never had this bad experience with any billing person ever. She is rude and really nasty to people. She cares ONLY for her money. She made me pay for my service even before submitting to the insurance company and never submitted my claim. Its been more than a year I had service from them and whenever I call her to ask for my money, she would pretend as if she is busy and say that she will call me back. She never called me back. Now, I am not even sure if she submitted to my insurance or not. BEWARE of them.

She is awful at what she does, She butchered my tooth. I had a very simple filling done by her and not only it looked like she threw the material on the tooth without even shaping it but it was sensitive for weeks! Also every time I floss the floss would get stuck on the filling, I did not have this problem before she worked on it. She is aawful! DO NOT GO TO HER!!!! The filling doesnt even look like part of the tooth.

beautiful office but owner and office manager are very rude!! they only care about the money not the patients!! if you do choose to use this horrible practice use Dr. N great dentist not like the rude owner who shouldnt be allowed to touch peoples teeth!! my 2 year old nephew has more brains then the office manager she should learn how to talk to people!!! my whole family has switched dentist due to the rude owner!

My whole life I have hated going to the dentist and Dr. Mekawy was very gentle and was very personable. He is definitely the best around! He also has personality and is a great guy to be around during your visits. Very respectful and professional. He made me feel very comfortable with all my work that had to be done. 100% recommended!!!!

Island Smile Dental provides the highest quality of service I have ever experienced at a dental office. They have modern technology, great customer service, and amenities. They get the job done but dont push cosmetic dentistry like I have experienced at other places. They are also extremely punctual and fast with their cleanings.
