Dr. Oster started caring for my two cats when they were only a few weeks old. Now 16 years later, I would never consider going anywhere else. She has seen them (and me) at their best and also their worst – healthy checkups, teeth extractions, food allergies, arthritis, and now mega-colon. Her care for my cats at every stage of their lives has been exceptional. I appreciate Dr. Oster’s direct approach to medical diagnosis and her willingness to explore treatment options that meet situational needs. In a recent event Dr. Oster provided above and beyond care and support while my cat was at the emergency clinic as a surgery patient (a specialty surgery that Dr. Oster does not perform). She spoke directly with the surgeons to ensure they had the most accurate history, called me frequently to keep me informed, and most importantly provided me with detailed information and acted in an advisory role when decisions were required. She treated the care of my cat as if she were her own and called several times (even after business hours) to make sure the recovery process was going well. She provided me with sound medical advice and much needed emotional stability during this latest health crisis, and now manages the aftercare. Dr. Oster is supported by a friendly and knowledgeable staff. From the receptionist to the technicians, it is my experience that every person associated with this veterinary practice is well trained and cares deeply about the animals they are entrusted with as well as their owners. The office common area and exam rooms are always clean. Appointment availability and responsiveness has never been an issue, and in cases of urgent need they always find a way to get my cats in the day I call.

I was taken for a ride by Dr Oster in the worst way. I came in with my 8 year old cat and she lectured me in poor english about the state of my cats teeth. Tried to charge me over $1000 to clean and extract some teeth. I looked at the breakdown of finances and there was many seperate charges for a single procedure. There were two seperate charges for anestesia and 3 for intravenus fluids. Not to mention an extra $150 for bloodwork. These people like to guilt trip you and con you out of your money. They lull you into a false sense of security with their friendly techs and then the vets go in and crucify you with guilt to get you to part with your money that much easier. I didnt like the way she treated me or the terrible advice she was giving me. She told me my choice to feed the cats raw food was resulting in a lack of taurine which couldnt be farther from the truth. She told me to get a taurine supplement and give them as much as possible because if not my cat may die prematurely. The truth is, too much taurine makes the cat sick. The effects of too much taurine should be evident to anyone who ever drank too much energy drink. Most all sources of meat have taurine, plus the cat treats I give them have it. She also told me the "hallmark" of a cat with cavities is no sign of pain, and no sign of appetite change, and that something else may be wrong with my cat besides cavities if he doesnt want to eat. My cat had exposed dentin, again, anyone with a cracked tooth knows that pain. He was eating more gingerly and thats the only change I saw, which is perfectly NORMAL. Last I checked, no signs of pain or appetite change means a healthy cat!! Cats may not scream or shout, but the signs of discomfort are there.

By far the best pet hospital Ive ever been to. Dr. Oster and the whole staff are wonderful people and very good at what they do. Ive been taking my dogs there for over 10 years and Ill never go anywhere else. I see a reviewer mentioned being guilt tripped into extra procedures. I think thats absolute nonsense. I recently had to say goodbye to my 16 year old dachshund, Gene. Towards the end of her life, Gene had issues with an infection in her mouth, as well as problems with her kidneys. Every step of the way, Dr. Oster was concerned about what would give Gene the best *quality of life*, which occasionally meant NOT performing an expensive surgery. Most recently I had an emergency involving another one of my dogs having swallowed some fragments of a bone. It happened very early in the morning and the clinic was closed so I had hospitalize my dog at a 24 hour vet. These 24 hour hospitals must share information with local clinics because later in the day Michelle, a vet tech at the Monroeville Pet Hospital, called me to tell me that if theres anything they can do to help, theyre there. As if that werent enough, later on in the day Dr. Oster herself calls to offer advice as well as support. These are not the kinds of things that a dodgy, price gouging vet does. In fact, its the complete opposite.

After over a year and a half of going to Banfield Pet Hospital trying to get my cats diarrhea problem under control, I decided to try somebody different and went to Monroeville Pet Hospital. While I used to wait over a half hour past my appointment time at Banfield, Monroeville Pet Hospital actually got me in a room and my cat examined before my official appointment time. The Vet Techs were very nice and professional and tried to make my cat feel comfortable. Jana Oster came to get a look at my cat, and while I will say she can be blunt with how she says things, she knows her stuff. I learned more in my 15 minutes with her talking to me than I did a year at Banfield. She laid out a plan for my cat starting with simply changing the food to one she recommended. and some B12 injections. 3 weeks later, and my cats diarrhea is totally gone. Not to mention they were SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than banfield. Banfield would try to tack on every little service, and Jana only recommended a few things she thought might actually work. MPH called a week after my appointment to see how he was doing, and the Jana followed up with me when I had some questions. They were honestly great in my first experience with them, and will definitely be bringing my cat back if he needs it

I have used the Monroeville Pet Hospital for a number of years for the care of 2 shelter cats, each of whom came with chronic conditions that needed attention. Together Dr. Oster and I found ways to manage the first cats chronic illness and keep him as healthy as possible. When he developed an acute illness and required surgery, Dr. Oster was informative in outlining my options, supportive of my decisions and compassionate when his physical condition deteriorated further. My current cat also seems to have a chronic condition and again, I appreciate Dr. Osters approach to diagnosis and her matter of fact explanation of the possibilities in managing and accepting his "lifestyle" of insisting that he was meant to be an outside cat most of the time. The Monroeville Pet Hospital office staff has always been attentive, professional and well. Call backs, responses to questions and reminders are made in a timely fashion, and the atmosphere in the office has always been one of orderliness and calm professionalism. I appreciate this b/c when I have a sick animal, I need to know that he is being cared for by a doctor in whom I have a lot of confidence, Dr. Oster.
