Last night, 10/14/15. I rushed my husband to the ER due to an excruciating pain caused by kidney stones. At that time we didnt know what was causing all that horrible pain. I had to park at the entrance to get a wheelchair to get my husband out of the car and there were none. Instead of offering help the guard at the entrance was rushing me to move my car while I was trying to get my husband out of the car. No one offered to help us, they all were mingling and laughing instead of doing their job at an EMERGENCY hospital. They direct us to the waiting room for 15 long painful minutes until a lady called us to fill up the paper work, I asked her to please get someone see my husband and give him some pain killer. Im not exaggerating, but my husband was pail, sweating, bending in excruciating pain and vomiting. And yet no one has done anything. The lady told me that we needed to wait at the waiting room until the only one nurse working in there sees him. They made us wait again I ask for help and the nurse seemed to be annoyed by the look on his face and after half an hour and with an attitude checked on my husband. He was very rude. I was very annoyed but I tried to control myself and not exploit so they could see my husband promptly. Once again they made us wait in waiting room until they get a room. I checked twice to see what was going on, and they told me that it was very busy day. In the waiting room I counted only 4 people waiting. I even begged if can someone give something to stop the pain. For the last time I checked with the receptionist that does the paper work and I asked if we are waiting for a room how long does she think they would make us wait to see a doctor, the lady responded me that it might take hours or even days since its too busy. This is UNACCEPTABLE! What a waste of time and an ordeal to seek for emergency help. I would NOT recommend anyone to go to the Plainview Hospital. INCOMPETENT and CARELESS staff to work in an emergency hospital. I left and rushed my husband to the Glen Cove Hospital and they took him in immediately. They rushed him in the emergency room and thankfully they knew what they were doing and took well care of him. Immediately they gave him morphine and other medication and did a bunch of exams. I felt released and the best part was that they took excellent care of husband. They came to checked many time to make sure he was ok. I was so glad I left Plainview hospital, what a disgraceful place with a bunch of incompetent rude staff.

The hospital nurses and doctors (if the arrive at all), are extremely rude, arrogant, and insensitive about the concerns of immediate family members. I spoke with my father, an 86 year old patient at the hospital, who has been having many complications following his surgery at the NYU Langone Medical Center. The nurse assigned to my father refused to provide me with an update about his condition. She told me to call his doctors answering service that promised that I would get a reply from the Doctor within 45 minutes. I never received a call from the Doctor, after leaving 3 messages at 45 minute intervals. Finally, my fathers girlfriend from West Virginia, answered my fathers room phone, and told me to call his cell, if I wanted any information. The call was short, my father communicated in a drug induced slurring weak voice the following: "Mark, I am very very sick, my kidneys are not working, I am very very sick". What was I to think or believe? Neither my estranged brother Randy CARMEL, nor my sister "Caren Carmel", refused to provide me with any updates. Instead, I was told to my sisters Chiropractic "Dr", husband who i have not spoken to since 2008, when he told me that after my mothers grave burn accident in 2008, that "she was fine, and I didnt need to come up to New York to visit her". He conveniently neglected to tell me that she was in critical condition and not expected to survive. When my mother had cancer in 2007, neither Randy, Caren nor my father refused to even allow anyone to inform me about her cancer and treatment. The last time I saw my mother healthy and alive was in August 2008, when I drove my family with six children to visit her. She ran down the front yard screaming that she refused to see me because I knew of her cancer and refused to call or visit. Later, when she was critically ill after a burn accident that proved fatal, neither Randy, Caren or my father refused to inform me about the accident. I just had a bad feeling, and called my Dad, telling him that I was worried about my mother. He mistakenly believed that someone in the family told me, so he answered "How did you find out?" Again in October 2015, my father had a heart valve transplant, Randy, and Caren refused to inform me of the surgery. I learned only by calling Hospitals in NYC, that my father was in critical condition, and Rand and Caren at this side. Randy is immature, without any free will. He does whatever my father orders, irrespective of whether the orders are unjust and immoral.

My mom, dad, an aunt and an uncle were in North Shore LI Jewish hospital in Plainview at different times over several years and each experience was a nightmare. My mom was left on a commode for a half hour with her calling for help. My uncle had issues, and my dad as well. One night my mom said she was cold and wanted a blanket. The nurse said there wasnt any, but that night she saw the nurse sleeping in a chair with a blanket over her in the hall!!! My mom was being discharged and when I went to pick her up she didnt look good to me. I questioned the nurses and they got nasty. Then I questioned the doctor he said she is fine, shes just anemic. But my mom couldnt walk up the hall and she said her left side hurt!!!! Hello!!!! I asked for a cardiologist to look at her and when he did, he called an ambulance to transfer her to St. Francis for a quadruple by-pass. And that stupid doctor at Long Island Jewish was sending her home!!!!!!!! I was furious. I could have sued but I didnt. St. Catherines is a breath of fresh air. No one wants to be in a hospital, but if you had to this would be it.

Currently, have a very serious condition. My family has been trying to get me into the best doctors -- last minute, so we are unable to supply a place to fax these records to. They are refusing to work with me and claiming that it will take ten days to get the tangible copies due to their agreement with their copy company. A doctor was able to squeeze me in today, but then denied me when I did not have my records. With a condition that has a 40% mortality rate, it is not outlandish to say what I am about to say: If am no longer here in a few weeks, the one factor that could have prevented this was North Shore LIJ just putting in the slightest effort to help. The place is a chop shop, and unfortunately, they are still responsible for my deteriorating health even after I got myself out. 4-10-2017 - Joseph Nilsen .
