I went to the ER with a sprained foot to x-rays because Urgent Care wasnt open yet. I got a very vague and inflated bill, and it was like pulling teeth to get an itemized list of charges. When it finally came in the mail, it didnt have descriptions, just the codes for what I was billing billed for. After yet another couple of phone calls, I finally got to the bottom of the unreasonable bill and what the charges were for. When I contacted the hospital to dispute the erroneous charges for extra services that never happened, the billing department told me I used the service so therefore had to pay for everything they billed me for, regardless of the accuracy. They were no help and it was a dead end. I finally contacted Kristin, the Director of Customer Service, who was also rude and less than helpful. I finally gave in and paid the full bill, despite being over billed and charged for services that never happened. They clearly need money to pay for the new additions and it shows in their unethical billing practices. On top of that, the customer service at this hospital is TERRIBLE. Even the "Director of Customer Service" could use a refresher course on dealing with customers. After all, we are customers and not just patients to be taken advantage of. This place is SUCH A SCAM!

The pre-op was horrible. A registration person who didnt know what it meant for a young person to have Medicare. A nurse who thought an auto-immune disorder goes away. A blood draw lab that only has one person staffing it, and it took over 20 minutes to get service because that person was trying to grab lunch while me and another gentleman sat waiting to be seen. Now the operation / surgery crew and wing 7 East, wow! They were great. They did everything in their power to make the visit great. I had the same nurse two days in a row, and he was awesome! The PAs who visited with my surgeon were wonderful, and even the PA in training who took out a drainage port (that is a horrible feeling) tried to make the experience as good as possible. I really liked the fact I was in a private room and the hospital was going to private rooms for all patients. I think that helps patients heal quickly. Now as for parking, I was floored that you have to pay for parking, even if it is maxed at a low rate. Parking is free at Stamford and Greenwich Hospital. Valet parking is free at Greenwich and is now $8 at Stamford. I think for surgery patients and regular patients they shouldnt have to pay a dime to park at the hospital.

We chose Norwalk Hospital for the birth of our baby. She was born 6 weeks early and the doctors and NICU were amazing! However, when Mom was transferred to the Maternity floor, it was clear they were "out to lunch". They not only missed a dose of blood pressure medicine resulting in very high blood pressure (which they purposefully did not document on the chart), they missed signs of pneumonia. Mom left the maternity floor (discharged) and went straight to the Emergency Room ($$$) where they diagnosed pneumonia. And WORST OF ALL, we discovered that everyone involved in the delivery at Norwalk Hospital bills separately - complete with individual after-insurance balances. Its like staying at a Marriott hotel, but getting billed for the room, the bed, the bathroom, the pool, the TV, the continental breakfast, parking etc - all separately. Given the sheer number of bills and insurance issues that always seem to keep a bill from being paid (mostly due to improper bill coding) our credit score suffered as a result. Just too many bills from anyone and everyone involved in the delivery, and the probability of your credit score taking a hit is very high. Would never use this hospital again.

The experience was good but I detest the fact that this hospital has a fee to park your car. Why...?...The Hospital business is a very competitive one and I must say that whenever I go to the Tully Center in Stamford valet parking is absolutely free...Also Stamford Hospital has free valet parking the last time I was there. I think that Norwalk Hospitals policy for charging for parking is petty and insulting. I will not go back because of this policy. I live on a very fixed monthly income and if I so chose to use Norwalk Hospital for certain health needs I cannot afford to park in their facility. Therefore I cannot go back and will not for the same health needs I can get from Stamford Hospital...I simply believe that the parking fee policy is an insult. As I was leaving the parking lot I noticed an elderly couple that did not understand the process with having to pay your ticket fee prior to exiting in your car and so they were stuck at the gate which would not go up to allow them to leave because they probably did not understand the steps of exiting the hospital and paying before you leave. If you lose your ticket you are not leaving their facility...!!!

Dirty.....Finger prints on all elevators, doors and windows. Youll catch a disease just going to and from a patients room! The A/C blows luke warm air ! The Lobby can be misleading because it actually looks decent - but beyond the Lobby, this hospital out of another time period. (Old and Creepy)- And the televisions for the patients are smaller than a P.C. monitor from the 1980s! 10" wall-mounted televisions that are 30 feet away?? How about upgrading to a screen size the patient can actually see? and THE PARKING - A JOKE !!!!!!! They make you stick this tiny card in a slot - no directions - NO LIGHTING at night and people ALWAYS backing up because they cant pay and get out. I am bright and technically savvy and I almost had to crash through the gate to get out because of the payment system and lack of proper lighting. Get a NEW SYSTEM and PUT LIGHTS !!!!! Having to pay to park EVERY visit is pathetic. My Son went here ONLY because he had to. Would never go back !!! FIX THE PARKING EXIT SYSTEM - I am surprised more people dont just crash their cars through the gate to exit - Your system STINKS !!!! A BAD PLACE -

First of let me tell you...if you havent heard, dr ryan lieberman is leaving the hospital. If you have an appointment...your screwed. This particular department isnt taking any new patients. So if you were given the impression....told that you will be followed by another doctor....you were lied to. They will charge your insurance...and guess what...ask your insurance company if they will cover two in-takes/evaulations...my guess is no. Dr ryan lieberman will not prescribe any medications because he can not follow up with you...and the hospital isnt taking any patients as of 8/25/15. So i like nothing about my brief almost fraudulent visit for my family member. This department has no idea what they are doing with replacement. Though given 40 million dollars...this hospital leaves those in need out in the cold...in the end of a hot august. I hope this post helps those who have scheduled first time appts with this doctor...and please call and complain...if no one listens to you in the scheduling...please call the state of Connecticut department of health and file on offical complaint.
