While I dont have any serious complaints or experiences that I would consider threatening/dangerous or providing substandard care to my children, Im not thrilled with the practice. I have waited numerous times for over an hour, for WELL visits, and although the doctors are apologetic, the front staff doesnt seem empathetic at all. Also, I can rarely manage to see the same doctor/PA twice - I almost ALWAYS see a PA. Im keeping to the same schedule in my life, but clearly the schedule varies for the doctors since I cant seem to catch anyone more than twice. And I have an infant and a three year old, so I make a lot of visits right now...my infant was born prematurely, so she visits once a month during flu season for additional vaccines, and was sick at least once in between each month as well. In all fairness, I have never complained or made an issue out of seeing different care providers, perhaps the problem would be addressed. I dont really feel like there is someone there whose opinion I would seek out for matters relating to my children...I prefer the neonatal specialist at Stonybrook, or simply pour over many articles on the Internet, and hodgepodge that together with whatever whomever I happen to see at the pediatrician has to say. Also, the tables are really quite old and some have rips or scribbles all over them...my baby always immediately scrunches the paper up, so I know shes directly on the surface underneath, and...it doesnt look terribly clean, Ive never seen anyone swipe it with disinfectant...perhaps theyre doing it before we get in the room? I think, overall, I just dont feel any particular connection to any care provider, dont feel that the front staff is trying to be helpful or attentive, and am kind of sick of waiting SUCH long periods of time. But since my kids dont have any complications or illnesses besides viral infections in the winter, and I dont know any other doctors in our area, Im not out seeking change, either.

I left this office today. My son is just 2 months old and I have had nothing but issues since going here. I knew my son had reflux and I kept telling Dr. Newshots (not spelt right). She refused to give him medication. And because he wouldnt fuss in the office, she didnt believe that he had issues at home. I ended up making an appt with another dr who gave me the medicine and hes been so much better since. Their computer systems never save info so every time I go in there, I have to go over everything from day 1. Today, I had an appt at 10:30 in Port Jeff (the only offuce I go to). The receptionist told me the appt was in Wading River. I told her I was never informed of that. She said for me to be seen in Port Jeff, I would have to cone back at 1:45. I told her absolutely not. Then, she told me 11:45. I told her absolutely not. They did get me in at 11:15. The nurse told me she would get me samples of formula, but never gave them to me. Dr. Oleszak than came in. She didnt answer half of my questions. She didnt listen to anything I was asking. She didnt check his ears or other areas that should be checked. I asked if it was possible tgat he ciuld be teething sin e he started drooling a lot and shoves his fist in his mouth. Hardly an answer. And you would think she would check his mouth. Nothing! My son started screaming and I couldnt hear the dr. Normally at home, I let him cry for 20 minutes before getting him. But here, i picked him up right away. She told me very rudely "you shouldnt pick up your child so quickly. Youre spoiling him." How dare she tell me how to parent my child. Our visit was over and I was waiting for his records. I then got called into the office managers office. She wanted to know why I was leaving the practice. I told her exactly how I felt. Absolutely disgusted with this office.

We used Kids First Pediatrics for almost 2 years with our daughter. We really liked one doctor who was also a lactation consultant, but she left the practice. We then found another doctor within the practice that we liked and trusted after going to several PAs and doctors. That doctor also left. We are constantly getting bills for unexpected charges for lab fees etc., and even in one case they had the nerve to charge us twice when they accidentally did a throat culture twice. The last straw was when we went for a sick visit and I asked if we had a copay, they said no and then I got a bill later for the copay and an extra charge. The billing issues aside, since health insurance is always a pain, the care that we received was subpar. Doctors would tell us totally different things for the same illness and treatment. My daughter had to see an endocrinologist and they said they would follow up with us. They never did. Most of the drs and PAs could not answer my questions about articles that I had read in newspapers about various things as if they had never heard about them. My current pediatrician may not be up on the latest news story, but he will tell me what he does know about the issue honestly and then give his advice with confidence. We have moved around a lot in the last 4 years and have had 3 pediatricians. This was the worst.
