Today I had a very similar experience as Pat Martinez did three years ago. I brought my German Shepherd Brinks in for his annual adult wellness exam. I also had questions about pain treatment. Brinks soon will be 11 years old and is starting to have mild pain and discomfort. Dr Korte was very rude to me today and got defensive when I had the audacity to question the MAVENS treatment plan. I questioned the costs of the plan now and in the future. The first 5 TIMES I went to Coldwater Animal Hospital, Dr Korte tried to sell me his "premium" dog food. On other visits he has tried to push his product line of treats and supplements down my throat. My wife will not go to COLDWATER ANIMAL HOSPITAL because Dr Korte makes her uncomfortable with his high pressure sales tactics. Today, Dr. Korte spent LESS THAN 1 MINUTE on my dogs adult wellness exam which cost $50. LESS THAN 1 MINUTE. He didnt listen to my dogs heart or his breathing. He didnt feel his belly or ribs, or look at my 11 year old dogs hips and joints. I mentioned Brinks had sores on his elbows, he didnt look at them. He essentially eye-balled my dogs adult wellness exam. Our entire appointment today lasted LESS THAN 5 MINUTES. He tried 4-5 times to draw blood from my dogs arm and failed. I told him not to continue because of how uncomfortable and anxious he was making my dog. He was upset because he just lost out on another $50. When I questioned the cost of all the blood draws and possible medications, Dr Korte took off his gloves, threw them in the trash and the appointment was over. I asked to speak to Dr Korte after the appointment and in private. I expressed my frustration and told him I had a bad experience in his office. He couldnt have been more smug or insincere. As a business owner and as a man I gave him the opportunity to speak his mind and explain himself. Nothing. You know what I got? I got the look of a child who was just caught STEALING. BUYER BEWARE!!! Especially if you have an older pet. I highly recommend getting another opinion before you move forward with treatment.

I stopped into the office Monday to get more insulin for my cat. Later that night I got an email asking me to rate my experience with Coldwater Animal Hospital. I spoke my mind. I felt they were GOUGING for the insulin and felt they had lost their focus on their mission of helping the animals and made it all about money. Today I got a certified letter telling me that they were "firing me" as their client, and they had canceled my cats upcoming appointment. Clearly the truth was more than they could bear. Specifically, they sold Prozinc for $193l. I called around the area and found that a place to sell it at $140. Drs. Foster and Smith sells it for $95 plus $25 overnight shipping. Why shouldnt I be allowed to express my perceptions without this sort of childish response? The letter said I had made it clear I didnt trust my doctors recommendations. Were that the case, we wouldnt have stayed with them for 20+ years. Clearly they want clients who will not question why they have to pay more at Coldwater than anyplace else. Now that this has happened, it has reinforced to me that they do price GOUGE. And, if you dare say something, especially openly where others might see, they transfer it back onto you and make it seem like YOU are the problem. No problem Ill go someplace where they treat my pets, me AND my money with respect. Color me GONE!

Our family has been part of the " Coldwater Animal Hospital family " for over 30 years. We have had at least a dozen cats since then and have always been treated with respect and when the time came, with the utmost compassion. Kudos to Dr. Korte, Dr. Nemcheck and all the staff there. The staff at Coldwater will listed no matter how silly the question may be. They treat your pet like it is their own. I took a video when my cat was limping and showed it to them and they figured out what was wrong and told me I did a good job.
