The doctors here are so incredibly knowledgeable. Every time we come in, our doctor knows exactly who we are and whats been going on with our pup. First and foremost we are greeted with concern over how our golden has been faring through his health issues, then its down to business. Moreover, our doctor (Dr. Baldino, highly recommended!) goes in depth into each and every one of our concerns, as if it were his own dog on the table. If it werent for their outstanding effort, our dog may have not been diagnosed in time to save his life. Words cannot describe how grateful my family and I are towards the team working at Smithhaven Veterinary Hospital. The doctors weve met here are impressively thorough, yet they still understand money constraints. Its nice to know that we have someone on our side. In addition to their caring staff and exceptional doctors, the vet has a grooming business in the same parking lot. In the past, we brought our pup to chain corporations for grooming, however, they returned him injured -- a mishap which nearly cost him his life while undergoing chemotherapy. As a result, we are more cautious than ever about who we look to in order to help him. So far we have no complaints with Smithaven Vet Hospital or their attached grooming business. In fact, we usually try to schedule seasonal groomings with vet visits, making our lives just that much easier. Its truly relieving to know that we are in such good, capable hands. Mary Ellen Robinson

Spike has been going to the Smithtown Veterinary Hospital for about 2 years. He is the only dog I know who looks forward to going to the vet; he enters with a friendly, excited greeting to all with a wagging tail and an invite for all to come play with him. Dr. Coiro and his staff are very compassionate and gentle with him. I like the fact that Dr. Coiro takes a conservative approach in diagnosing and treating his patients. Spike is now 12 and we have concerns regarding invasive type treatments and his age. Dr. Coiro has worked with us In treating Spikes medical conditions. I like his honest, forthright approach and the alternative options he proposes when considering his treatment. I board Spike with them as well while I am on vacation. I would not leave him with anyone else. They are loving and caring staff who provide excellent, professional service; they take care of him as if he were there own. My family also brings them our cat, Sugar, and our rabbit, Flour. We highly recommend them for any of your pets needs. The Robinsons

My family has been going to Smithaven Veterinary Hospital since 1960. I was 6 years old and we had just adopted our first family pet...our dog, Rascal. The owner at the time was the wonderful Dr, Jones. Rascal was with us for over 15 yrs, and over the years we have had many cats, and small pets as well. The second owner was Dr Conarck, who was wonderful...I cried when he tragically passed away. I worried about what would happen to the hospital, but I neednt have worried. Dr Coiro and his staff have continued on in the tradition of Dr Jones and Dr Conarck. They are compassionate, experienced and understanding. Dr Coiro even treated my daughters ferrets and rats with the same kindness he shows dogs and cats. Our many cats, and occasional dogs have all had the best care any pet could ever have. When we go through the trauma of losing a pet, we always get a condolence card, which is signed by every doctor and staff member at the hospital. I would never even think of going somewhere else for my pets care. They are simply the best!!

The Barello family originally came to Smithaven Veterinary Hospital via my Mom, whose pets were patients of Dr. Conarck (spelling?) - dating back several decades. Then, over the years my boys grew up with two cats, Belle and "Little Kitty" (they named her not me!) and we also used the caring services of SVH. In 2003, we adopted our little Rocky, a Rottweiler, at 11 weeks.Dr. Coiro was Rockys Primary Care Physician, and he saw other vets there as well over the years. Rocky was always in good and caring hands. We had Rocky for slightly more than 12 wonderful years and on those occasions, besides regular annual check-ups, when we needed a quick appointment and care we (and Rocky) knew we had caring medical professionals and staff taking care of Rocky.Its 2015 and our family is lost without our Rocky, but when the pain eases with time and if we decide to open our home and hearts to another loving pet - SVH will continue to be the trusted place we seek medical services! I have been going to Smitaven Animal Hospital for nearly 25 years, when Dr. Conarck owned the hospital. Over the years and now with Dr. Baldino, I have trusted Smithaven Animal Hospital with the care of my four dogs. Having taken my dogs there from their puppyhood through their old age and demise, I can say with certainty that the hospital is the best in the Hauppauge/Smithtown/Lake Grove area The hospital is clean, some workers have been there from years back, the staff is compassionate and accommodating. The fees are reasonable and the dedication is exceptional. Dr. Baldino is a remarkable and astute vet who provides targeted care and takes the time to explain all options. He is great with follow up care and gentle with the animals. I couldnt express the gratitude that I have to the staff and doctors enough, and I couldnt recommend a more professional, consistent and competent facility to bring your family member.

The Best in the area in my opinion. We have had several pets under Dr. Coiros / Dr. Baldinis care over the past several years. I brought my cat in several years with symptoms that were a mystery to me, she was clearly in pain but couldnt understand why. Dr. Coiro felt around her abdomen, gave a small squeeze and discovered an internal abscess most likely from a cat bite and it was infected causing her fever. After a round of antibiotic, she was back to normal. We also received the kindest care by the whole staff several years ago when we had to put down our beloved beagle of 14 years, Nala. Several days later we received a sympathy card in the mail that meant the world to us. We now have a German Shepherd that was a bit difficult last week for shots and Dr. Coiro and staff were wonderful and patient with her. If you want a caring and professional staff and very experienced Vets, take your pets to Smithaven!

For the 14 years I had my baby boy they took the best care of him. Even at the end when my Husband and I had to set him free the family here at Smithaven were so great. They were always good to him and he loved them all. They got him through not only his annual physicals and shots, but mange when I rescued him, 4 surgeries, 2 biopsies, 1 horrible spider bite, allergies, xrays, infections, upset tummies and ultimately the dignified and humane way to end his suffering from cancer. The Drs both care so much and the staff are all animal lovers! I was very blessed to have them with me to care for Max during his life, and to make sure he was taken care of after it. Cant say enough good things. Just, thank you! You made all the difference in his life and when I am emotionally ready to rescue my next baby, this will be our vet again for sure. I would recommend them to anyone.
