Ever since this hospital became part of St. Peters, it has really gone down hill. Even many of the nurses there admit they hate it now also. Its truly disgusting how patients are treated there, and how they get away with it, they just dont care. Calling Patient Relations is a joke, I had done this twice, and when they research into the issue you had with their docs/nurses, they just lie and deny anything happened, so why even bother pretending to care when nothing will be done because they believe the lies their staff tell. The ER is also a joke, I have seen patients lined up in the hallway waiting for hours, and hours before they are seen. Th idiots at St Peters did not think it thru when they closed St Marys hospital. Samaritan can not handle the amount of people that go thru their doors, and once again, I have to say, even their employees will admit to this also. You know it must be pretty bad when most of the staff there admit how horrible St Peters is. Unfortunately, my health isnt the greatest and I have spent a lot of time in the hospital over the past few years, but I am done going to St Peters. I go to Albany Medical now, they are much better, and care a lot more about their patients.

Went in at 4am on a random Thursday for rabies vaccination (bats), after 3 hours of waiting total, I was neglected treatment. Literally nothing was done, still cost me copay. After visiting the department of public health, who subsequently freaked out on Samaritan for not starting treatment immediately, I was on my way back for the treatment. After 1.5 hours of waiting, they took my blood pressure and explained to me how "they usually dont do rabies vaccination" (my thoughts - is this a legitamate hospital?), I proceeded to wait another hour for the treatment to begin. All in all, I spent 6 hours paying 2 copays and getting 5 shots. One star execution on their part. Wouldnt recommend, and I cant believe this is what taxes pay for. Low quality

Wifes back surgery on November 30th 2015 / ICU for 12 days/ multible problems according to staff/ breathing / kidney / heart / copd / aortic valve stenosis/ blood clot/ haullinations / no reconititon of anyone. Moved to PCU and appeared to be somewhat better, had infection at surgery site, same day, and sent back to surgery for second operation, no notice to family, then back to ICU where everyday was down hill after that, till she passed on December 21st 20016. 73 years old getting a back surgery and ending up dead in a matter of days! Rule states: one must give at least one rating to post, but mine would be a minus many times over!

I am most disappointed at the service. The staff was not as responsive as I had anticipated. Also one of the doctor discharged a patient who was not in any position to be released. I can say however, one of the nurses on staff was very attentive and gave me some assurance that the patient is in good hands. Overall, rating is a one out of five due to the treatment of the patient on behalf of the staff. Also the main desk was not being utilized and the security was not in the office when I went to post an inquiry (that would have gone to the main desk if someone was actually there).

They kept me there for an entire week despite me being fine a few hours after I was brought into the emergency room. The normal staff doesnt come in on the weekends, because apparently people dont get sick or get better during the weekend. The nurses/doctors apparently didnt take notes because I had to keep telling them why I was there. Nurses were fine, and the emergency room was quick (but I was dying so I probably had priority). Staff outside of the emergency room were gruff and unhelpful. Emergency room gets 5 stars, the rest gets 1.

Worst experience ever, doctor was very rude and seemed like he had better things to do... Had me waiting in a room for over an hour and when I went to the nurses station to find out how long it would be, I found the doctor sitting back flirting with a nurse... I expressed my disgust and asked to see another doctor and was told the only other person I could see was the receptionist for my discharge papers... That hospital is a joke and I recommend St. Marys which is not far away

My mother had a stroke. After 1 day of being there, a lady constantly pushed her to go to Sunnyview Rehab. So my mother said yes. They had an ambulance bring her from Samaritan to Sunnyview. And because the lady (I wish I could get in contact with) did not inform my mothers Health Ins Provider to get it pre-approved, she has a substantial medical bill gor the ambulance service plus mileage. There were also tests done at Samaritan that were not covered. What a nightmare!

The original Samaritan Staff is fabulous. Since the merger I believe the new staff cant handle the ER or the floors. I will always go here, but always pray i dont deal with new people. The origanal ER staff has always been amazing. I know many of them. The new staff from the other hospital need to realize compassion respect and efficiency goes a long way.. learn from the senior staff... this is a great place being ruined by a hand full of crabby apples.

I think one of the worst experiences a person can have is to be paralyzed with pain and at the mercy of a lazy, unhappy, cranky, and mostly incompetent team of caretakers--including doctors. I was recently discharged from a 5-day stay and I still wake up with nightmares. I rarely write reviews; its even rarer for me to write negative ones. But this was a REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE and I feel the need to share.

My Mom spent a week in room 6003. The nursing team and everyone whom came into contact with my Mom were at their best...Medical attention round the clock, IV preps, medications, meals right down to the bed linens changed. I am forever grateful to the 6th Floor nursing team for the care and professionalism they showed my Mom.
