The ER staff in my sons room (catty Male RN known as Eli, tall, short-haired female- lets call her Liza Minelli- who says poor taste things with a perma smile thats supposed to make it all ok and a small, aged doctor who thought my sons misfortune was a great platform for his lackluster humor..although Liza thinks hes hilarious) was unprofessional. They engaged one another with basic disregard for the fact that a mother and injured son were in the room...dealing with being in the ER....for an EMERGENCY...so, yeah. Humor is great in times of crisis; lack of manners and/or human compassion, however...is crap. Aside from this, they handled the procedure poorly. They unsuccessfully drugged him for pain. They forgot about him needing an xray for an hour so I had to seek it out myself. They gave us no discharge papers. NOT COOL WITH OUR EXPERIENCE. The RN, "Eli" even took the time to say a catty remark on our way out....and I never even gave him a reason to do so. My disdain was kept inside, where it would not jeopardize my sons quality of care:) Eli was just that catty. When you ignore your patients and make fun of them, seeing them as a nuisance and not truly caring for their state of being, you are giving crap care and doing a crap job. Thus, CHARLOTTE HUNGERFORD HOSPITAL HAS A CRAP ER ...(or at least they did this past Saturday on the day shift). A few of the staff (2 female nurses and a male aide, and the lady who took our insurance info) were genuinely kind, attentive and very professional, which is why there are 2 stars in my review. Otherwise....CRAP. CATTY CRAP. That is all. :)

I have the same situation as Steve Ross. Years before I met my wife she visited the E.R. for a a sliced finger trying to remove an avocado pit. She paid the bill, but they claim it was never paid...fast forward...We are now married and my wife visits the E.R. for a similar reason. Minor cut that they glued shut. I paid the bill since shes on my insurance. Months later they claim it has not been paid. I called them and got nowhere with the billing people. I sent paperwork from my insurance showing I paid CH in full. They said, "we will look into this and put your account on hold until we figure it out." Never heard anything from them until months later they send a letter saying our account has been sent to collections! I called my HSA provider and they 3 wayed the call with CH. Again paperwork was sent from my HSA provider and the call was also documented by them...Same result. THEY PROMISED TO LOOK INTO IT, AND THEN 2 MONTHS LATER I RECEIVE A LETTER SAYING OUR ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SENT TO COLLECTIONS!!!! THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR COMPLETELY DYSFUNCTIONAL BILLING AND FINANCIAL DEPARTMENT. PLEASE DONT SUBJECT YOURSELF TO THIS KIND OF TREATMENT. THEY WILL TRY THEIR BEST TO RUIN THE CREDIT OF PAYING CUSTOMERS INSTEAD OF ATTEMPTING TO RECONCILE. THEY WILL BE HEARING FROM MY ATTORNEY, AND I DONT EVEN WANT MONEY...JUST JUSTICE FOR HONEST PEOPLE WHO STRIVE TO PAY BILLS AND GET SCREWED DESPITE IT!!! WORST HOSPITAL I OR MY WIFE HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH!!!

Had to bring my mother here jan 23 at 5 in the morning .. She is suffering from Chronic Sinusitis , she told the doctor who was on that night , that she had thrush and that she had had it many times before and KNEW the signs and how it felt in her throat. What does he do ? Says he doesnt see it . Not to mention when he first walked in he said she had been there " too many times " You know something my mom doesnt go to the E.R much and would very much rather not go but for a doctor to pull in one ear and out the other is disgusting . It is reprehensible. She is still suffering from the thrush and it has gotten progressively worse . She doesnt even feel like she can go to the E. R now even if she really needs to. My mother is going to be 58 years old . I do not appreciate some snot nosed wet behind the ears whelp emotionally manipulating her into feeling like she cant even go to an emergency room when she needs to simply because they think shes been there " too many times " . Frankly as far as I am concerned it is malpractice , shame I didnt think to record each time she went there over the years where a doctor ignored what she was telling them and screwed up anyway.. I find it sickening that it was this very hospital that saved my life years ago. Makes me sicker than hell. Id rather go to Hartford than Charlotte at this point . Doctors who do not listen to the patient ought to not practice at all.

I had some positive experiences here, but also some really devastatingly bad experiences. After I got out of the crisis center on the seventh floor I entered the Partial Hospital Program, which was helpful, but then once I finished there, still very suicidal and in desperate need of support, a therapist could not see me again for over a month. And they insisted it be them and not elsewhere. This was really dangerous and made me feel like Id been forgotten about, like nothing would ever get better. It was really scary, and in hindsight negligent of them. I also had an X-ray done because it was suspected that I had multiple broken ribs and they did the X-ray and told me I had NO broken ribs. I was distraught because I was in an overwhelming amount of pain and they would not give me time off of work where I lifted heavy things the entire shift. So I got another X-ray from someone else and turns out I had THREE broken ribs. Kind of impossible to trust them now.

This hospital doesnt know what being professional is. They give someone a room, then kick them out to a hallway. And then have the nerve to tell a woman who had a stillborn, could be hemerging from her c-section, has a whole medical history, that what she is feeling is all in her head. Like, you cant be bothered to run a test? What is it bothering you? Thats what you get PAID to do! Not to sit there and tell someone what they are feeling in their head. Thatd be like all of America saying your degree is in your head considering you dont know what sanitation is. And then when you call to let the supervisor know how rude their staff is, she transfers you to patient experience care. This is why nothing gets fixed, they dont want to hear how bad they are so they can fix themselves... Severely disappointed, and highly suggest anyone going through something traumatic not to seek help from Charlotte. Itll just be in your head.

This is the worst hospital. We arrived at the emergency on a Saturday night ,the nurse that checked us in was very rude. She didnt ask why we were there, just said what us you first name and then told us to go sit down. After trying to ask her a question she just said go sit down. This hospital is only 4 mins from my house. It is convenient by I will avoid this hospital if all possible. I left the hospital that night and went to Bristol Hospital. As soon as I arrived in Bristol, they ask us what we were there for and took us right in. (They have the best service) I will never go to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital or recommend anyone to go there. Go to the walk in clinic in Torrington they are better with good service. Remember you are paying for this service ,dont waste your money for bad treatment
