Dont come here if you busted a wisdom tooth and developed an infection. I busted my wisdom tooth to the point where the entire tooth from the gumline was completely gone. I have developed an infection and the pain was pretty severe. I had already scheduled a dental appointment but needed antibiotics because my dentist will not extract an infected tooth. Spent hours in the waiting room. The entire lobby was jammed pack. No biggie, I thought, They are just busy. However, the way they handle the ER department is about 40 years too old. The way they have the check in, triage, and the registration is them calling out your last name. Well, in a room of about 60 people that doesnt work too well. Pagers just arent the thing I guess. So I am seen by a physician assistant in training. I explained my pain was an 8 out of 10. I felt like someone was jamming a nail in my gums and I was swollen. Five minutes later another physician assistant came back in and told me to take ibuprofen and tylenol interchangeably every 4 hours for the next four days (which is my appointment), I just stared at her. Ive been taking over the counter tylenol, ibuprofen and motrin. I told them it does nothing for me. They responded that their doctor is a dentist and he wont do anything higher. They saw the gapping hold in my jaw and the infection. They wouldnt even prescribed my antibiotics. She then had the nerve to ask me if I wanted him to extract the tooth tomorrow for me rather than waiting for my dentist. HELL NO. The man probably wouldnt even Novacaine much less any aftercare pain management. This hospital...stay away from it. I guess they treat everyone like drug seekers.......even when they see a bleeding hole where the top half of your wisdom tooth used to be,

Mid=June my husband developed severe back pain which continued to worsen. He saw an orthopedist connected with the hospital who brushed him off with a booklet of exercises. Went to our PCP who referred him for PT which did nothing plus gave him and RX for Aleve and made an appt for an MRI but couldnt get in for it for seven weeks. As his pain continued until one morning he had trouble walking, I said lets go to the ER and maybe they can get you in sooner for the MRI. The ER doctor gave him a perfunctory exam, an RX for Prednisone and Ocycontin and said he saw no reason to "bump" someone to get an MRI sooner. We were totally disheartened as he was unable to walk or sit. The medicine did absolutely nothing. He tried to get an appt with a pain mgt doctor but YHs website said he wasnt taking new patients. Our PCP got him an appt but he wouldnt see him until he had the MRI which took seven weeks. It is a disgrace. I will never see YH again in the same light. He had the MRI, saw the pain doctor who gave him a shot of cortisone and he got immediate relief. There was no reason for three and a half months of such pain.

Mom decompensated rapidly after lunch, on our way to a short stay in Ogunquit. My sister and I went through various stages of "what do we do? as we were trying to get home to Moms caregivers. As Mom became increasingly unstable, we called 911 and they directed us to York Hospital. Initially fearful that: A). small hospital, B) unfamiliar practitioners, C) small hospital...we were quickly awed by the unconditional excellence we saw in EVERYONES professionalism, caring, compassion, and thoroughness of treatment. I have worked in hospitals, seen many versions...aware of the stresses of providing cost-efficient yet excellent care. I would without any hesitancy whatsoever endorse and refer anyone to tell me that they have received better care anywhere else!!!

Generally considered by people in the area as an excellent, small hospital (not so small any more). Have been there numerous times over the years, for self and family members, and the level of care and personal attention has always been close to excellent. We generally chose York Hospital over other hospitals in the area for our care.

The OBGYN of york hospital is definitely the best hospital I have ever been. Especially the midwife there is so professional and so helpful. I really considered to buy house in York, and one main factor is York Hospital. I love this one, the best ever.

Went to some old office space in back of a Savers store to see my doctor for a prescription and got $105 charged facility fee for going to a hospital. Medicare paid 80 percent! Sounds like fraud to me.

York Hospital is staffed by caring people. They take an interest in the quality of care they give. They listen. This facility is like a home away from home
