My wife was referred to Dr. Maddux by my GP. Upon arriving in the office, we completed the forms necessary, presented my wifes drivers license and BCBS Insurance card, paid the co-pay, and sat back to wait for the nurse to call. I did not give my SS Number on the form since we have had our identity stolen before, but all else was filled out on the forms. The receptionist, after reviewing the forms, handed it back and told me to fill in the SSN. I told her of my experience and asked why she needed this number to which she replied, "She does not make the rules, the Federal government does". "If you dont fill in this number, we cant treat you". To which I replied, I have other doctors who do not require this info and have treated us fine for many years and you should be no different since it is not relevant at all to my wifes medical treatment. She then said again that they would not treat my wife and handed back my co-pay which she had already put up and gave me a receipt. She asked for the receipt back and my wife and I then left the office without seeing this doctor. I am very disappointed at this service. Our tax and social security number is not relevant since my wife has her our own insurance policy and is not on medicare or any other government help. It seems that a drivers license and insurance card should suffice for the service. This policy cannot stand! We will find another doctors office with some common sense and share this instance with all who care about our rights!

Of all the different factors you could share in a review of a physician, the only one that REALLY matters to me is an accurate diagnosis, treatment that worked, and those kinds of issues. The other things might be nice pluses, but definitely not the deciding factor for me! Dr. Maddux is very thorough, very skilled and knowledgeable. Hes been our family physician for over 15 years, and we wouldnt go forward with any serious problem without him on board. We take our "colds and flu" to a doctor close by, but for serious stuff, we drive an hour to see Dr. Maddux. Its well worth the time and gas! For those reasons, we highly recommend him!
