I had high hopes for this dental office - I really (really) wanted to like them. In this day and age, its upsetting that its so hard to find good, honest, decent Dentists and Doctors. It seems that many practices care about one thing, and its not the patient. After my previous dentist moved out of state, I went looking for for a replacement. My teeth have always been fairly routinely cared for. With the exception of not flossing as much as I know I should, my teeth are in average condition. Before my initial visit was even complete, I was told I needed a deep cleaning, and several thousand dollars worth of services. Just like a used car, there are always services you *can* perform, they just arent always a necessity. I *can* get my fluids in my 6 month old truck changed, but do I really need to? - no. After explaining my budgetary concerns - and, requesting they give me a list of the more important dental services I needed - we settled on just the deep cleaning for the day. Let me interject by stating, not all dentists charge the same amount of money. In fact - as Im learning - the cost variances can be quite vast. Places like this are part of the reason health and dental insurance premiums have gotten so out of control. For example, with my current insurance, my out-of-pocket cost for a "deep cleaning" at my beloved old dental office would have been $150-200. At Happy Valley Family Dentistry, I was told my out of pocket cost for the very same procedure were going to be $1241. I understand that not all dental offices are created equal, but over $1000 more out of pocket? After politely declining services, the Office Manager got involved and immediately cut the bill in half. Keep in mind, the bill was was she cut in half, not the services. Even at half, that was simply out of my budget. As I was about to get out of the hygienist chair, the Office Manager (yet again) reduced the price. I was told she could do $430 and I could make payments, and I could have services performed right this second, but I would need to make a decision now. Being that I was tired and just wanted to find a regular dentist again, I went ahead with the service. I was given six months to pay the bill, which I did in full. In the next couple months, I also had a couple cavities filled, as well as a routine, basic cleaning. The amount that I paid was about quadruple was my old office would have charged. Not wanting to switch dental offices again, I paid in full at the time services were rendered. Fast forward another six months, to when I received a very large bill in the mail from HVFD. Not only was I told that I actually owed another $50 on my initial deep cleaning, but that I owed several hundred dollars more for my couple cavities - the same cavities I had already paid $120 each for out of pocket. These outrageous bills arent commonplace. The reason these happen is because practices such as HVPD try to charge the insurance companies exorbitant amounts of money for services that dont warrant such a high price point. They will try to sneak in minuscule, inexpensive services and increase the price to such levels, that the insurance company has no choice but to deny payment. I understand that theyre a business and trying to make money, but at what cost? If you take anything from this review, let it be to do your homework before settling on a dental office. Compare them with other practices. There are still decent Dentists out there, this just unfortunately isnt one of them.

I like Dr. Mirkhah a lot, but after being offered a discount on customer appreciation week and having the front desk staff confront me months later about my insurance refusing to pay the added cost, I must say I am very disappointed. In addition, they offer prizes for each person you refer to their office. I brought 3 other family members in for cleanings and care, yet was told I could only get one prize. Not the biggest deal, but the fact that I am being charged $250 extra months later due to their errors, is a bit ridiculous. I didnt feel like arguing with staff, so I left and now Im being billed, even though Ive always paid for all of mine and my childrens services upfront. I have the best insurance in the state and was told by my insurance company that the added fees came after they paid for the actual services provided. Also, I did not appreciate the pressure of having to schedule my children for their next check ups in August, now. I cant guarantee to be available that far in advance and explained this to the office staff, yet she insisted that I had to make an appointment that far in advance in order to have my children seen. Im only giving them a 3 star because I actually like the dentist.

Happy Valley Dentistry is just a name, but the people who work there make it the go-to place if you want your teeth nice and shiny. Youve got Tina & Tracy at the front desk; two of the nicest ladies youll ever meet. Lennon/McCartney...yea theyre ok. Jagger/Richards...getting warmer. Tina/Tracy...now theres a partnership for the ages. In all seriousness though, they really do hook you up. Dr. Kuo is a cool guy with a legit passion for dentistry. He knows his stuff, and you definitely pick up on that right away. To top it all off, theres Hacida (might be spelling that wrong) and Jessica, two really knowledgeable, talented, and laid-back people who take care of you every step of the way. I called this place because it was the closest business I could find, but after several much-needed visits I left feeling as though I was lucky to find Happy Valley Dentistry. .

After spending over $20k worth of dental work at this office, I called with a dental emergency ( top front veneer fell off) last week and I was told the dentist was too busy to see me same day and was offered a next day appointment which is totally unacceptable. The receptionist showed no concern nor empathy towards my situation and sounded surprised that I expected to see the dentist same day. After not showing up to the scheduled next day appointment, the receptionist called to ask me why I didnt show up to the appointment, which is comical to say the least. This office expected me to continue with my daily activities while missing my front tooth, patiently waiting to be seen by a dentist who was far to busy to be bothered with my emergency. Happy Valley Dentistry, Im shocked and appalled with how you treated me, a loyal patient for over 10 years.

Wonderful dental staff who took great care of my teeth and professional customer service. I caught a difference in billing between the office and insurance which took two visits to resolve the issue due to a change with a staffer, but it was resolved & credited on the spot. Id recommend them to anyone with dental insurance who keeps tabs on claims.
