After waiting months to get into Dr. Plotnik, this mornings office visit was definitely the worst I have experienced. At check in, my husband was forced to sign a financial responsibility form for each of our twin Granddaughters, who we have temporary guardianship of. After explaining to Emily that we are not financially responsible, I was called up to the desk. I was handed the phone and told the office manager wanted to explain things to me. The office was full and I basically had to explain our situation to Maria Dupree, office manager. There was no privacy at all and I felt as though I shouldnt have to air my dirty laundry to an office full of strangers that probably also didnt want to hear my story. Our choice was to cancel and reschedule the appointment or to sign the form. Not many options. Im certain that this office, who deals with pediatrics has to have experience with either Foster families or Grandparents. We surely arent the only ones. Maria was only concerned about getting the form signed, which as she stated was a matter of policy. Nothing else mattered. After this horrible experience, as we were waiting in the waiting room to see the Dr., A woman came out to the waiting room, holding a kleenex and and a bottle of eye drops. She never even introduced herself. I found out later her name was Arnella and she is a medical assistant. She asked the babies names and said she "was going to put the drops in to dilate their eyes." She knelt down next to one of the twins, both were sitting in their carseats. She used her hand to steady herself, placing her hand on the floor. With the same hand, she placed on the floor....she pried the babies eyes open to place the drops. She didnt wear gloves. The baby was screaming. She then started going towards the other baby. I told her she needed to wash her hands. She left and came back and placed the drops in the other twins eyes. Probably the same bottle of drops. When did it become appropriate to give medical treatment like this in a dirty waiting room? Giving medications without obtaining any medical history or allergy info? No hand sanitizer, no sink. No gloves. These babies are micro preemies that were born at 25 weeks and have lots of health problems. Its flu season. And...btw....the baby you touched without gloves or washing your hands....has been Hospitalized twice in the past month and just got released from the PICU a few days ago. After a long wait in the office, we got called back to the exam room by the same woman. She asked "do you have any concerns?" I explained to her that this was follow up appointments from being in the NICU. She replied "I know". She was completely rude!!! I asked her name and title. She told us her name was Arnella and she was a medical assistant. Dr. Plotnik came in. Hes very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. He was highly recommended by our Pediatrician and he followed the girls in the NICU. This is the only reason I even stayed after all the office problems. I did tell him the issues we had. He assured us he would speak to Arnella. However, its concerning to me that Dr. Plotniks office had no paperwork for us to fill out and this was the first time they have been seen in his office. He followed them in the NICU, 10 months ago. He did say that they are not considered new patients because he saw them in the NICU. Usually they update medical information, as it changes constantly.

Dr. Plotnick is great. But the staff is so inexperienced. I was told they will call me with the time for my childs eye surgery. They didnt, so the day before I was going crazy trying to contact them all they with no luck. Finally a couple of minutes before they closed they gave me a call after multiple voice-mail. So 2 days after the surgery they call me saying I had an appointment that day and I had just missed it and if I wanted to reschedule. Of course I rescheduled and told her I was not aware of the appointment. She apologized for the staff not calling to let me know about an appointment they had scheduled with me knowing. I go in today for the rescheduled appointment and surprise surprise!!!! I walk in to the office just to find out the appointment had been cancelled because the Dr. said my son didnt need to be seen anymore. Again no call from the staff.

Dr. Plotnik was quite nice, however....Dr. Plotnik wrote a prescription for me; when my new eyeglasses arrived they werent even close to being correct (like they were written for somebody else). Called the office to validate the prescription against what the eyeglass makers stated etc. In order for me to have Dr. Plotnik review the prescription and validate it was correct in the first place, the office wanted another $150. NOT ACCEPTABLE....will never recommend a Dr. who will not stand by his own work....

Im in my 40s and had a operation on one of my eyes (3 yrs ago) the operation went pretty well. My main interest (?) is in eventually getting the LASIK surgery. Ill need to have another follow up operation, to fine tune my LAZY or crossed eyes. Dr. Plotnick is very good, and the staff is very knowledgeable about my issue with my eyes. (To be continued)
