Went to see Lakeway Ortho for a consult on my daughters ortho. She has several adult teeth that cant drop because her mouth is small. Lakeway Said she needs expanders and it would be $2380 just for expanders and then need braces later also, and she still might need to have several teeth pulled anyway. My husband couldnt get ahold of me (I was at work) so he accepted it and put down $500 deposit. Came home and we talked and determined our budget wouldnt support that right now and further, for that kind of money, we need to get another opinion. Called Lakeway the very next day and explained. They offered a longer period to pay off the debt, but we really just needed more time to review our options. Then they said the treatment wasnt to save teeth from being pulled but because her bite was so bad. It felt like a push to keep the business rather than understanding that we needed time to consider further alternatives in light of the fact that we would probably be spending $8000 just on her teeth when you consider braces down the road, too. Long story short they finally agreed to refund our money but then called back and said there would be a $35 administrative fee because we changed our mind. We have 7 children, three have already had braces and one (thank the lord!) didnt need them. We still have three more kids that need braces but we wont be going to Lakeway ortho to get them - felt very much like they were just angry that we wanted to explore other options and they totally didnt get how freakin expensive it was and right before Christmas, too. Sorry we are not made of money!

I cant express how great Dr. Dykes is. I was his patient in Houston before he opened his practice in Austin. Even back then he was extremely professional and courteous. After only about a year and a half of braces I had a beautiful smile and perfectly straight teeth. Flash forward a couple of years. Im in school at UT and break my retainer. Remembering that Dr. Dykes mentioned he wanted to open his practice in Austin, I decide to look him up. The whole process was very professional and efficient. His staff is extremely friendly and professional. Moreover, his office is high tech yet inviting! I felt very comfortable there. In addition, the patients who were there at the same time seemed to be very relaxed and comfortable. The best part is Dr. Dykes remembered me! He had saved all my information and was able to pull up all my old molds, pictures and photos! In no time he had me fitted for a brand new retainer! When you invest in braces or invisalign you are really investing in the doctor. If I could do it all over again, I would go to Dr. Dykes in a heartbeat. Hes that good.

I came to Dr. Dykes office looking for a second opinion on my 9 year old daughters teeth and left with a new orthodontist. His office staff is wonderful and he is just AMAZING. He took time to sit and visit with my child to make sure she was comfortable, which is super nice as she was very nervous going into it . After a quick examination he shared his thoughts and answered any and every question I could think of, without ever making me feel rushed. I sat and waited for the typical rundown of all the work and money I was about to spend only to have him tell me she needed nothing for now. How often does that happen! Simply put, Dr. Dykes is very very personable with the kids and does not recommend unnecessary work (definitely not the same experience I had 2 weeks ago at another local orthodontist office). We will be back in a couple years for braces and I totally look forward to it.

We moved to the Lakeway area from Dallas in 2010 and my son was almost done with his orthodontic treatment. Our Dallas orthodontist was horrible about our move and insisted that we travel 6 hours round trip for appointments rather than refund us any of our almost $6000 that we had paid him to finish treatment close to home. Well, that wasnt going to work so we came to Lakeway Orthodontics. Dr. Dykes offered us a "more than fair" rate to take his braces off, deal with retainer issues and periodic checkups. He even noticed a slight shift on his lower teeth recently and offered to put braces on for 6 months at NO additional cost! He is awesome and his staff is beyond, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. My daughter is now a patient and I couldnt be happier with her treatment so far!! I would give Dr. Dykes 10 stars if I could :-)

" My family and I moved to Lakeway not too long ago, and knew that eventually all four of our daughters would need orthodontic care, but had no idea we would need to so soon. I visited many orthodontists both in Austin and in our previous city of Houston. Dr. Dykes and his staff took their time to explain everything in detail because they knew I was hesitant about starting work on my 10 year old. I think that is very important for parents to not feel "scared", or pressured. At many of the other practices I felt pressured and it was not a positive experience, but Dr. Dykes was honest yet understanding which made all the difference for us! Our daughters have been patients not for 3 months and we are very happy with our decision to have Dr. Dykes and his staff as our girls orthodontic team! "

During the course of my treatment I always had an amazing experience with everyone at Lakeway Orthodontics. The doctor was always punctual and friendly. The staff was very professional and always had a smile on their face. I felt right at home. I always tried to make sure I did everything I was instructed to do & the nurses and doctor always took notice of my progress but were also very kind in any additional recommendations they saw that would make my treatment progress more smoothly. The office has great decor and televisions at each station. I have recommended many friends to Dr. Dykes as well as my husband who is currently doing his Invisalign treatment. Dr. Dykes and his team are by far the best Orthodontic team out there! Not to mention that their very posh office is fabulously Austin, which I love! Anyway, I had a pretty rough experience when I was a teenager with my old Orthodontist that left me, now 12 years later, slightly unsatisfied with my smile. However, when I visited Dr. Dykes and his team, they assured me that there were options. They helped me feel comforted that no matter what I chose to do, I would feel much more satisfied and content with my smile. I would highly recommend them over and over again! Keep up the great work yall!

Dr. Dykes and his staff make every effort to ensure the best patient care possible! Braces for young adults and even adults can be hard but leave it to Lakeway Orthodontics staff to make it fun with various games, activities and rewards! Dr. Dykes does not recommend any unnecessary work and is a perfectionist in all he does! Our daughter not only has straight "A"s, she now has straight teeth and a gorgeous smile! This makes 3 out of 6 in our family that have gone to Dr. Dykes and when and if the other half of the family needs braces, we couldnt trust anyone else but Lakeway Orthodontics.
