I took my 6 month old rescue kitten Buster to this clinic on the recommendation of Dr. Ward from Springhill, Ark. My kitten when I found him was between 4-6 weeks old and had a broken pelvis. Almost everyone of my friends told me I needed to just go ahead and put him down then, but I just couldnt. During the 6 months Buster had issues with urinating, Dr. Ward did all he could to help Buster, but as Buster got older, he got worse. Dr. Ward called Dr. Beard and told him about Buster and wanted him to take a look at Buster to see what he could do to help him. I could tell when I met Dr. Beard and his assistants that they were concerned and wanted to do what they could for Buster. I left him there so they could do tests and come up with a solution for Buster. When I went to pick Buster up, Dr. Beard said he needed to discuss some things with me. He showed me the x-rays and explained in detail what he found and what he did and what options were available for Buster, none of which was good. He gave Buster a 50/50 chance of surviving surgery and even said if he did, he would be in pain practically all the time. I couldnt do that to Buster and it was the hardest decision I had to make. But they brought Buster in and so I could have time with him and make the decision of what was best for Buster. They did not rush me, they let me have the time I needed to say my goodbye and ask forgiveness from Buster. Dr. Beard explained the process and kept saying Buster would be grateful for what you are doing for him. After it was over, Dr. Beard hugged me and told me that God is smiling now that he has Buster in his arms. His assistant took Buster and wrapped him up for me and placed him in the pet carrier so I could take him home. But she made sure I was able to drive as I was really doing some crying and was so upset. She took Buster out to the car for me and asked me if I was okay enough to drive and I said yes. She said its hard to let them go, but in Busters case it was the best for him. He is pain free now. I just want to say that this experience was not the best for me emotionally but for Buster and seeing how the Dr. Beard and his staff was truly concerned for him and me, I am truly thankful. I would take any of my four-legged family members to him any time.

WPAH and Dr Beard are simply wonderful. Highly recommended by our friends who have many (older) dogs, we made an appointment for a second opinion for our aging girl. The staff were highly aware of our emotional state and distress about our girl. Dr Beard and both staff that were there were extremely empathetic to us, to our girl. Dr Beard is cheerful, thorough and best of all straight forward and no nonsense. He wont sugar coat or beat around the bush. Dr Beard will tell you in definite terms whether your prolonging your pet for you, or for them. Our girl has cancer in her sinus. Theres no running away from it. Yes, the biopsy and stuff will be expensive. No, theres absolutely no way we can afford it. Im pretty sure they know this. We have learned that aside from the tumor/s our girl is in really good condition for an elderly lass, and even if we were to get the biopsy and following surgery to remove her cancer its a high probability that it would reoccur in 18mo or so. Shes an old lady. 14yrs of love and a cush life. Shes still loved and pampered and will be till shes out on the property under a tree forever. What Dr Beard has done for us is to help us know that Yes, shes sick. No, shes not in pain (yet). So prolonging her life is for Her. We will be taking all 3 of our dogs to Dr Beard now. Some people just dont realize that vets need an extra layer of detachment from pets than human docs do. Humans are just people. Pets run differently through our lives. Thank you to everyone at WPAH. You do it right. What scares the daylights out of me is our boy just started coughing this morning. Just chuffing coughs. But almost constant. WPAH is closed till Monday and we cant afford Maumelles ER clinic right now. Dr Beard, well be seeing you again Very Soon.

When I lived in Conway, I brought my 2yo cat to this clinic because I noticed the day before that his lymphnodes were swollen, which can mean very bad things. I was a college student working part-time and didnt have a ton of money, but was willing to pay to take care of my poor kitty. When the vet came in, he looked the cat over, listed several terminal conditions he could have based on the symptom and said it would be $300 JUST TO RUN BLOODWORK TO TEST HIM. That was my rent payment at the time, and it was made clear to me that it would cost more inevitably and of course then theres treatment...The worst part was what the vet said to me: "I know its sad - of course, if it was our father or our aunt or something, wed just treat him but it costs a lot more to keep an animal alive." No, seriously...thats what he said. I left BAWLING, holding my sweet little Harley, and paid the $30 for the visit [for what? IDK]. A week later I was able to save up enough to take him to another more affordable clinic that was 50 miles away [they did NOT charge $300 for bloodwork] but at that point Harley was so sick...he died on the way to the clinic. His health spiralled downward SO fast, but when I took him to Dr. Beard, he was still in great condition and spirits. It turns out he had acute kidney failure, which might or might not have been manageable...Ill never know now. It was one of the hardest things to deal with. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET, DO NOT GO TO THIS COLD, HEARTLESS PLACE. I MISS MY SWEET HARLEY EVEN NOW, AND RETELLING THIS STORY HAS BROUGHT ME TO TEARS. THE VET I GO TO NOW HAS DONE ALL KINDS OF THINGS FOR MY PETS AND IVE NEVER BEEN QUOTED RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS. THERE ARE BETTER CLINICS OUT THERE. DONT LOSE A MEMBER OF YOUR FAMILY TO THEIR MONEY-GRUBBING COLD-HEARTEDNESS.

Dr. Beard and his staff are a blessing from God! I highly recommend to everyone! They took good care of OREO for me. I had been to many vets in Conway, and they could not tell me what was wrong with my puppy (weird huh). I was going BROKE and I was about to give him up because I couldnt afford to keep taking him to the vet and them telling me the same thing. I took him to Dr. Beard and he gave me an answer other vets in Conway couldnt and it was SIMPLE, he was low on sugar. My puppy would not eat for some reason. They told me exactly what to do to help him become better, and To build up his appetite to eat regular dog food, they told me I had to hand feed him baby food ( and it WORKED). If Oreo got low on energy and stopped Being himself, I simply gave him sugar and he was back to normal. I was a college student and working student, and they were kind enough some days to nurse Oreo back to normal while I was at school. These people at this clinic are a blessing! The staff was so nice and so helpful! They even called some days to check on Oreo and ask how hes doing. I thank God he sent me to this clinic because they saved my puppy. I am forever thankful for what they did at this clinic, they dont know how much they impacted my life and helped me in my time of need.
