I brought my dog in because she had an ear infection. When I made the appointment they mentioned she was due for her annual vaccines. I said Yes, I know but she has an ear infection and has scratched a scab off the top of her head which was bleeding. They made an appointment for that afternoon which was great. I took her in and was greeted immediately and everyone was very nice. While we waited, they kept apologizing that they did not have a room yet but I did not mind. Someone came out and said she was going to take her and weigh her. (I assumed that was to save time as they were busy) They brought her back and soon we were called to a room. The Vet walked in with a clipboard full of shots and started to give her an injection while telling me she was fecal and heart worm negative. I said Wait a minute!! We are here for her ear. She was not tested for heart worms or fecal testing. She then told me "Oh we did that when we weighed her!" WHAT!!?? Then she proceeds to tell me it is fine to give her her annual vaccines as she is giving them. Sheesh! She then looked at her but did not use an otoscope or anything. She asked if she could "trim a little fur" from the scabbed area on her head (about the size of a dime) to look at it. They took her out of the room and returned her. She handed me some medicine and told me to use it twice a day. I asked her if she had cleaned out the fur and debris from her ear and was told yes. Got her home. Checked her ear, it was still a mess! Fur all matted down in it and crusty discharge all over the outside. Then I looked at her head. They easily shaved off a silver dollars worth of her fur...ON TOP OF HER HEAD, to look at a healing scab... $196.00 for all this! They even charged me for the tag from the county! WOW... I am not used to my dog being taken out of the exam room, ever. I do not like it, nor do I like being lied to. I do not appreciate tests being performed without my knowledge or permission, either. We will be transferring our care ASAP.

Hi all, I just want to put his out there because I am very upset about Hillcrest Animal Hospital. I will never use them again. This is my second bad experience at this overpriced establishment. I and another motorist who happened to be a nurse stopped on 1-630 to help a dog that just got hit by a car twice. He managed to make it to the side of the road after we stopped the cars to let him get to safety. He was loaded in my car badly hurt, bleeding, and not moving and scared to death as you can imagine. The closest vet I knew of was Hillcrest Animal Hospital. I called for help at the door and not one of the 5 assistants came to help-not even open the door. We finally got him into a room and the vet would hardly touch him even though the girl that stopped with me and I signed paperwork. The vet actually look disgusted and it took forever to get the dog pain medicine since it was suffering. She just poked at his legs and that was that. She took no interest in comforting him or talking to him. It took forever to get him xrayed and then when she came out she presented us with a bill for $431 and said sorry she was not going to work with us. I have never seen a vet more uncaring. I know it is not a charity hospital but she would not budge on any of the bill. I am happy to say that the dog is going to make it a one of the people who saw the wreck called many vets trying to find the dog and offered to adopt it. He has hairline fractures in his hip but has started eating. He is the sweetest dog- about 2 or 3 years old. We called Parkhill Pet Clinic and they were more than happy to work with us as I know there are many good vets out there that would have helped.

EDIT/UPDATE: After a few calls back and forth, the doctor who saw us could not have been more upset with this situation. She, and the office manager, completely resolved this issue and went out of their way to let me know that they want our business and care about our experience with them. I can say that they turned a complete negative into a positive and we will give them another shot. ================================== Based on our one and only visit, and the reviews here, I am sure this vet clinic does a good job. However this review is to voice my disgust with their recent FaceBook promotion. It offers a free wellness exam with rabies shots. We claimed the offer and we happy to give them a chance to earn our business. The visit went well and then they gave me a bill for $150. When I protested they told me that the free wellness exam only covered the office visit cost, not the exam. BAIT AND SWITCH. They lied to us and cheated us and offered no excuse except to say that we should have known better and that you should always be skeptical of a free offer. This shows a complete lack of moral fiber and I wish they were as good with people as they were with animals. We will not be back.

We have used Hillcrest Animal Hospital and Dr. Joan and Dr. Larry Nafe for over 15 years. They have always been friendly, caring, kind and honest. Little Rock is most fortunate to have a vet with the vast training and experience of Dr. Larry Nafe. He is truly a miracle worker. This past year our 3 lb. Yorkie had a severe neck/spinal injury that left us with no hope of survival without surgery and quality of life issues with surgery. They were very honest and kind when explaining the risks and odds involved. They were very thorough in explaining the costs of the surgery and long term follow up after surgery. We chose surgery and prayed for a miracle. Because of Dr. Larrys deft touch and excellent skills we have our miracle. The accident was a year ago Valentines Day. Our Yorkie can walk again and move his neck. We are most thankful for Hillcrest Animal Hospital and will continue to highly recommend them.

When my cat had to have life-saving surgery, this was the only place I could go. Every person I spoke to was extremely nice, friendly, warm and comforting. They reassured me very well my cat would be okay and told me I could call as many times as I needed to feel better and I could come visit him any time I wanted. Every time I called, I was able to speak directly to a doctor (and once to the surgeon who performed his surgery), and I never had to be put on hold for very long to do so. Being able to speak directly to the doctor - and right away, no less! - makes a very big difference! I was so worried about my cat when we dropped him off, but now I can see why they really are called "the best of the best" and I wish more practices would follow in their footsteps. This is a very capable hospital and all its staff are great for soothing frayed nerves. I cannot thank the staff enough!
