THIS IS THE WORST sleep studies facility!!! My experience with University North was horrible. 1. Blueshield of California and Sante Medical Group allows University North to monopolize the sleep apenia care. The insurance allows a patient to go to this facility only. The problem with this is that the facility is very crowed with patients (lots of patients with sleep apenia, COPD, other respiratory problems that they serve) and the waiting area is very small. 2. I had to spend the night hooked up to wires that were glued to my head. How could the staff get a good reading of my sleep if I couldnt sleep by being wired up or in my own bed. It was like if I was sleeping with curlers on my head. 3. They sent me to Respicare on 7560 N Del Mar Ave (if you search with Yahoo, you will see that Respicare has one star ratings). Respircare did not replace my hose, or face mask according to health law. Respircare did not update check with me on my progress (neither did Lynn Keenan, MD). 4. Lynn Keenan sent me to a sleep class at Community Ghetto Hospital in downtown Fresno. 5. After I voiced my concern of the horrible service, Lynn Keenan, MD stopped her patient care with me. Because of Sante Medical Group, University North, and Respicares inept patient service. I took my paycheck and transferred to Kaiser Permanente. I can testify that Kaiser Permanente has the BEST sleep apenia facility with great patient service. They are contracted with Apria and my sleep apenia patient service is a lot better! With Kaiser Permanente, they use a pulse oximeter, and a wrist device to test if you have sleep apenia at home in your own bed. After, patients take a class and are taught how to use the monitor. Then Kaiser Permanente has the patient(s) take an APAP machine home to get your air pressure check for 5 days? After that, they give you your results via the Kaiser Internet Website or through a smartphone app. You get your APAP machine delivered to your door. Then the staff at Kaiser Permanente has another class you attend to teach a patient how to use, clean, and inform a patient when to get replacement supplies for your APAP (This is something that University North did not care to keep track for me nor did Dr. Lynn Keenan ask. I had a tech tell me from University North to wash my mask, and hose on the floor of my shower! If you really want 5 star patient care, enroll with Kaiser Permanente if you can. But dont go to university north, unless you have to. I got 1 star care from the get with University North.

I had my sleep study done last November. They had just opened their new facility. The facility itself is very difficult to find and I had difficulty finding it on my follow up too. My Sleep Study experience was absolutely wonderful! I seriously dreaded having it done and had procrastinated and didnt think Id be able to sleep especially because I suffer from severe insomnia. The staff was absolutely amazing of explaining everything that was going to happen and making sure I was comfortable. Where Im not quite sure about the doctor I saw and when I was told to follow up in a year. As a nurse, the follow up in a year with me having been diagnosed with "severe sleep apnea". I needing to make some major changes in my medications… It just seemed a ways out there for a follow up. However, Kathy at the sleep center has been absolutely phenomenal in answering any questions I have and making me feel very comfortable that I am being "watched" and adjustments with my CPAP are being made as needed and also as Per my request. So overall I really feel comfortable and highly recommend University North medical sleep specialty center!
